I think his organ argument is pretty weak. I think the idea that we do not have autonomy over our bodies is a terrible premise to argue from. I think having body autonomy isn't an argument in support of pro choice but of pro life. Pretty much all rights derive from the concept of private property and the first piece of property you own is your own body. The fetus has a right to life because of this premise. And this can get pretty deep into positive/negative rights and hierarchy of rights etc. Anyway my point is I just think his starting position isn't a great starting point. Basically this idea that our bodies are owned by God. I admit in any discussion of rights you eventually get to a point where you have to submit to the concept of natural law but this doesn't mean the divine owns us.

This is the first time I've heard that some people think there should be mandatory organ donation. Yikes! Yeah, what could possibly go wrong with that?! I used to be an organ donor until I recently nearly died in the hospital, and I heard my family telling me how strongly the staff wanted them to just "let me go". I used to be an organ donor until I recently nearly died in the hospital, and I heard my family telling me how strongly the staff wanted them to just "let me go". There are people out there who would like to decide whether your life is worth saving, and I don't want to give them another reason to "let me go".
