What do you end up doing when you're busy doing something else? For me, it was observing the things my coworkers did in meetings to "appear smart." A few years later, those observations turned into a blog post that went viral around the world and became the subject of my first book. I ultimately ended up leaving my job at Google and starting my own brand based on these everyday observations. This talk is all about observations; how to find the humor in them, but also how to observe yourself in order to discover what it is you truly love doing.
Sarah Cooper is a writer, comedian, and creator of satirical blog TheCooperReview.com, which attracts 200K+ page views per month. Her work has appeared on The Washington Post, Fast Company, Business Insider, and Huffington Post. Previously at Google, Sarah has over 15 years of experience in the corporate world, leading to her first viral article, “10 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings” and the subject of her first book, 100 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings, to be published in Fall 2016. Sarah also speaks about adding humor to your writing, as well as performs stand-up comedy around San Francisco.

I have the deepest respect for this young woman. Her genuineness shines so strongly, so humbly, so joyfully. I've seen her in several interviews now, since her wider public acknowledgement, and she is insightful, intelligent, warm, strong, unique and ever that joyful, wonderful spirit shines caringly. I feel she is a gift to the world. I say all this from a highly critical perspective: it is not mere affectation. She is a unique, genuine treasure and my sincere hope for her is that she takes long walks, cuddles her dog, or any number of equivalent moments to remain in control of the terrible side-effects of her upcoming fame.

I’m 57 and this is so me. I’ve started and stopped so many great ideas and projects. I get sad just thinking about it. I don’t know if it’s too late for me or not. What I do know is, I didn't want my children to have doubts about their abilities. I encouraged my children all while they were growing up. I didn’t say great ideal to everything they thought up but what I did do was have them talk it out and list the pros and cons and research it. I’m so proud of them and all 4 are successful. They don’t have that seed of doubt in themselves as I do. I’m so incredibly proud of my babies/adult children.😁

I caught onto her after she became popular; these older videos are fascinating. It’s really interesting seeing her growth. She’s developed her craft into a brilliant intelligent comedian and truly earned her popularity.

In 2020, we should count ourselves very lucky that Sarah Cooper had left her desk job and turned to writing, impersonation (of a unique kind), and acting. She is terrific at getting under Trump's thin skin, and I should think that her niche is observing and following the pull of her unique, odd, zany humor. You are a fantastic comedian, Sarah Cooper, and thank you for it.
