My Dad had the exact same model. It broke down after 2 years. There seems to be a problem with Jeep Commander engines. My Dad loved that car, but had to give it up instead.
I miss our 2006 w/the 4.7, although I will say the day after we traded it for the Ranger...it mysteriously developed a deep low end knock. Pray that the U-Joints on the driveshaft never take a dump, because the U-Joints aren't replaceable and you literally have to replace the entire driveshaft. Thanks, Mercedes!
Robert Schneider The Commander is the first out of all my parents cars we've kept over 50,000 miles. My Dad has always been one to sell before 50k miles because after that, value just significantly plummets (unless its an Acura or Lexus product). We've been very pleased with our Altima but honestly, we purchased it as a disposable vehicle knowing we would only keep it a few years.
your difference between the 5.7 and the 4.7 allows for an extra 2000Lbs towing capability. thats pretty much your main difference. 5.7 has a little more HP and about 130 more FTlb of torque. the issue, unfortunately with the HO 4.7 engines is they where prone to early failure do you water pumps, valve retainers and cam sprocket issues. the 5.7 didn't have any of these problems. The Earlier version 4.7 where dang near bullet proof. (My 07 4.7 command is now 220K with no issues. I got her new) Also when it comes to cleaning under the hood. I've have a number of imports and luxury dealers screw people. It's not the maker that the problem it's the running of the dealerships. They all do what they can to limit costs. My Jeep Dealer runs every car though a wash and vacuum anytime any work is done on any car.
Have you had any issues with the lift hatch not wanting to stay open? I went to open mine manually and ever since if i push the auto opener - it opens and then when it should stop it closes.
It's not body-on-frame. It's the same platform as the Grand Cherokee WK, which is Unibody, just a little bit wider and longer. I'm not sure why the cargo floor is elevated like that. Perhaps so it will be flat when all seats are folded.
I'm frankly amazed that Chrysler paid for the engine on warranty. FCA has a tendency to rip off customers by not paying fro repairs or defects on vehicles from before the bailout.
I have a 2007 Commander and it is my first car so I may not know a lot about cars and their noises, but I know that my Commander makes noise that cars shouldn't sometimes. I'm legitimately scared to bring it in and see all of the codes. And as you said about the V6 being "gutless", that is for damn sure. My car is the slowest thing I have ever driven and it gets the worst gas mileage I have ever seen on a vehicle (16.4). My uncles V8 4Runner gets better gas mileage than mine does.
@thinkoutsidethecube 1 question what phone case was on your phone in this video? I saw your Civic hiding in the back Lol and I'm guessing the Altima might be replaced with an Accord
The new one is a pretty nice car, but I knew it would be a complete failure. Chrysler sells to many to rental fleets, and also it has a bad reputation so people don't want to buy it.
I'm waiting to see what the new rear wheel drive mid sized dodge is going to look like. Hopefully they don't ruin its reputation and call it the avenger again, they might call it the barracuda but others rumors say that the barracuda name will be reserved for the next challenger...
If you guys get rid of that truck maybe you should get a chevy tahoe my sister's birthday was yesterday day and as her suprise scince were all adults now and dad still treats her likes she's 3 our father decided to buy her a 2015 chevy Tahoe LTZ and it is fully loaded like loaded with options but you know what I'm happy for her 84,000$ price tag is going to bite him in the but sooner or later.
Looks cool, but of course the quality turned out to be absolute shit, like all jeeps... should have gone with a japanese car and saved money in the long term. I came here to find out why you can now buy new looking commanders for around 5000$ here in Sweden, I knew something had to be seriously wrong with them haha
2009 Jeep Commander Limited, 57,430 miles
I like how it looks like a bigger version of the Jeep Patriot
hi 😈
One of my favorite Jeeps. Wished they continued this.
The Jeep Commander Is a badass looking SUV straight up
Soccer Crew looks like a vehicle.for.Narcos
I would keep the Commander.. Use the hell out of that powertrain warranty!!
My Dad had the exact same model. It broke down after 2 years. There seems to be a problem with Jeep Commander engines. My Dad loved that car, but had to give it up instead.
this is not a reliable vehicle?
Wow
Thanks for the video. You are a mighty good salesman. Im looking at buying an 09.

Wow
Should of got the FJ, it would still be running
Great review of the interior. Despite the uhm's, better and more detailed than most. Thanks.
This was such an informative video, thank you
How high off the ground is it?
Great tour, definitely keep the commander thoses might be worth a lot in the future
6 years old video but good video quality
Was the lifetime powertrain warranty automatic with the vehicle (all 2009 Jeep commander limiteds) or was it part of the individual purchase ?
I'm willing to bet my life that you guys are going to replace that Altima for a used, ex-rental 2013 Sonata. That, or an Elio
Thinking of getting one of these in the UK. Looks great and brilliant review. Thanks
Did u get one
@@Countcho I did. Very expensive though to run in the UK.
Why are you getting rid of the Altima?

Is it the replacement of the GMC

Only took 4 years to make this vid. Congrats
Beautifull

Haven't had that issue yet, but I'm sure it might be down the road for us.
+ThinkOutsideTheCube how much are they
check the support struts that are attached to the lift gate. they are likely bad.
Good video ....good elaborataion
super late, but how was the car with gas?

What does it mean when a glove box is damped
_ ClassicChrome01 A damped glove box wont slam down, it will slowly lower.
Just sitting here waiting for Brooks sarcastic comment lol
lol... scroll down! 😂

My brother in law had a 2006 Commander Sport, he had the 4.7 and he said the same thing about the 3.7.
@thinkoutsidethecube 1 question what phone case was on your phone in this video? I saw your Civic hiding in the back Lol and I'm guessing the Altima might be replaced with an Accord
Lifeproof Fre
I'm looking for changing from my Grand Cherokee WK 3.0 Diesel 4x4 to a Commander 3.0 Diesel Limited 4x4
Any thoughts people?
unfortunately the diesel in the commanders had less power than the grand. I would stick with the grand.
Bighappy no, the commander diesel is the same power and torque output. You could be confused with the WK2 diesel which is a vm built engine.
Bighappy I decided to buy a Porsche cayenne with a V8... The build quality is stunning.
how reliable is this jeep?
Good review ty.
Great condition. Thumbs up.
Can't wait for the model X
I like my grand cherokee 5.7 more it's lighter, faster, no 3rd row gimmick, and better mpg
The Commander is built on the Grand Cherokee chassis. Lol
where is this located
When are u going to. Sell the Altima
Pujan Soni Before we have to put tires on it. Currently sitting it has around 35k on it so it'll probably be another year.
My best guess for the altima replacement is either a 2016 Mazda 6 or 2015 Mercedes C300
It's unstoppable off road😊😊
Wait for the 2020 Grand Wagoneer!!!
Lol
@@CountchoWas he right???
How much is gas on it
The interior is identical to my 2008
nice truck bro
Ok thanks
8000$ of engine work??? why?
Craig D he said its a brand new engine
And Jeeps are UNRELIABLE
I think your replacing it with a new 2015 200
+Brandon Wiley lol rip to the 200
Why did I say that, I hate my 200 🙅🏿🔫
Chrysler is supposedly axing it soon.

ThinkOutsideTheCube hahaha!!! you guys are always arguing in the comments. I am sure you guys are great friends. You both live in Georgia?
I think you should get the New Chevy Tahoe or the New GMC Yukon Denali
Gordon I think those are ugly.
Those hand rails on the back of the car, I've always questioned that
It's so you can climb up and get to the roof racks :)
This bloke uses them for bondage
"Big cup holders for an American car" Have you been outside the US? Most eurospec cars don't have cup holders at all...
