    17 years ago... Wow, to think that this video came out at a time when even before Brawl was released, and 64 and Melee were all people had to play. Crazy.

      Brawl was a disappointment even to my 11 year old self... even as a young casual i could tell we had lost out on all the speed from melee

    It is in fact a Tool Assisted Run. Meaning it uses the computer to make frame-perfect calculations, hits, and movements for flawless game play

      Isn't it funny how so many people are acting like it's the user who played this without any assistance?

    This isn't an actual person playing its a computer program that allows the computer to manipulate the character so that it makes perfect moves at the perfect time. There is also one of perfect fox.

      Davichi 283 yea it is called a tas or otherwise known as a tool assisted speedrun which allows you to make a string of inputs to make a perfect run or game in this case check them out they are really cool especially the super smash bros melee ones

    This was the game I was trying to get when I was a young teen when I work over the summer and earn 100 dollars and try to purchased this game. my dad made me put it back and get my money back and get something more constructive. I still haven't played it but I think I would be a beast on it.

      TAS means tool-assisted. Doesn't mean a bot did it, it means he used tools to either slow down frames/help with timing(s). He still has to construct the battle and execute/compile it all himself.

  • @DanTehSamuraiMan

  • @DTX0217
    @DTX0217 12 лет назад

    @DTX0217 *Link being lighter and more nimble than he is in Brawl and Melee w/out having to be as weak as Young/Toon Link is another aspect to be greatly appreciated. There are more reasons than that, but this is certainly enough to illustrate the point that the first SSB title had its advantages and was excellent in its own right.

    @meni5678 TAS can also mean Tool Assisted Superplay. And he did do this by himself, he was just allowed to use restarts along with slowdown and frame by frame actions. (Though it doesn't look like he did many of those at all) And Isai's Link seems better :P

  • @SuperBonk64
    @SuperBonk64 11 лет назад

    Well, there kinda is a difference.
    This is a TAS Video, Tool Assisted SuperRun/Speedrun, which means he probably played the game at 1 FPS to make sure he got all the button commands correct and accurate, which explains Link's fast responses.

    I'm going to have to mostly agree with you. While I admit that I personally think Melee and Brawl are overall better, in terms of art, music, features, sheer number of stages, larger and more varied character roster (and more alternate costume colors to boot), and miscellaneous implementations of creative design, the first SSB was quite incredible in its own right. Mostly for the reasons you mentioned, but also because of approach and presentation. Sure it's a bit dated, but not too b

    I see so many comments saying it was tool assisted. The CPs are extremely predictable in smash 64. They have blind spots when you come at them from different altitude and are weak to projectiles that set up easy combos. You have to contend with the randomness of 2 of them though, the up b recovery that put you in front of pikachu is imperfect and left you wide open. Once you get it down to one CPU it is not difficult to defeat them without getting hit once.

  • @DTX0217
    @DTX0217 12 лет назад

    @DTX0217 *Sure, it's a bit dated, but not too badly. One could even say that the ways in which it is simpler than Melee and Brawl were actually aspects that made it more robust. To put it another way, if you view everything in a more narrowed scope, it will be much easier to focus on what's essential.

  • @BruteRazloga
    @BruteRazloga 12 лет назад

    This guy is doing fine.. I play as Captain Falcon vs 3 level 9 donkey kongs and usually beat them easily enough. 1 donkey kong and 1 pikachu isn't so difficult. But using the boomerang isn't the greatest move. Link has some of the hardest hits as a character, but the boomerang is weak. Using the 360 spin might be better because it repels the characters away so you can focus on one to take out...

  • @JarvidO
    @JarvidO 12 лет назад

    It's a TAS, so basically he played it on an emulator in super slow mo and used save states so it would be absolutely perfect
