Totally agree with you Hiiro Seino. My first bmw saved my life and getting into mechanics; how cars and trucks work. Driving in general; whether that's performance driving, daily commutes, or steering an 18-wheeler. I'm glad and appreciative that this gentleman shared his story with the fight with cancer and what a great mentality. I miss my lovely close family friend who didn't make it. +ryanbhoy88 well said its not the specific car, its what you make of the car and who you do it with. Hell I had a grand am that had a torque converter blow out to the point i had metal shavings in my transmission pan, I had the oil sending switch blow out causing me to lose all my oil while driving down the highway and collapsing every lifter in the engine, I had ignition control modules go and leave me limping home on two or three cylinders while the car bogged it way down the road, I've had the intake manifold gasket leak and send coolant into my cylinder heads nearly wiping the motor, and also leaked on my crank position sensor burning it out and causing two engine bay fires, but you know what I loved it and never had more fun in a car.

This is something non-car people never understand, we love cars because they help us, they make us happy, they keep us dedicated. They go what's the point of making a car fast you never get to use it, but not only statement false. To just take it around the country bring around your make them crack a smile even to the sound of the engine, petrol engines will never properly go away because of car guys, all your city cars will be electric but they don't give you joy anyway so who gives a shit. Petrol will never disappear and Diesel for that matter, there some huge Jeep lovers (not the company jeep, jeep is another name for SUVs but I don't like SUV because of crossovers) my father has this old Nissan Patrol 1988 I think maybe 89 he has nothing for it except a chassis the body which missing all the doors and the best engine ever created in his mind unkillable, the 4.2. He loves telling stories about it and you see the joy in him and it's nice to see. My cousin had a Skyline r32 and he totalled it, un fixable earn a bit of money for scrapping it and selling the engine or buy another and engine swap, he still has the car though because it became part of him he adored it
Seeing this as a person who is fighting with very bad lyme disease after all the treatements I've been through makes me wanna fight even more, because cars is my life and I love working on them. The disease took that away from me and I want my life back! Thank God that this man survived this fight. I would love to shake his hand one day. Thats a hero right there.
This is beautiful...a man and his car, a struggle for survival, and a dream lit by a unextinguishable flame of passion. This is the stuff that makes me cry.
when my cousin had to have part of his spine removed due to cancer his M3 kept him going, he had to leave it behind when he came back to Ireland, poor bastard not only will live in a wheelchair forever but he got cancer again at the start of the year, had most of his bladder taken... fact of the matter is, its the dark jokes and the things you're passionate about that get you through, and every time I see him it really puts into perspective what life is, how fragile it can be and how quickly it can turn upside down...
Enthusiast2024 thanks a million, he's after beating the second bout of cancer and he's his old self again now but the doctors basically said that if he gets it again that'll be the last time

This car is Perfect, not just because it's so beautifull and so nicely built, it's because of the story of this car, I admire this guy's positivity. Respect for this man :)
this gentleman has the rare gift of a life full of inspired friends who love him unconditionally, his car made him cope and drove him to survival but his friends and mother were the people who saved him. Speechless..

There's a video of a guy who's wife killed their son that he was going to build cars with, he built a 240sx in the name of his son and it's a great video to watch
+Ahmet T .....Thank you mate, meant a lot to me reading your comment. My mam passed away in January, they are together now (Mam and Dad), looking down on us. I was very touched by watching the video. I just watched it again. Take care my friend !!!!!
+Amir Hussain I'm a gtr fanboy but I liked it because this man is a trooper he thought he was dieing so he put everything he could under his hood and that's a pretty sweet car even though it's a evo
Shit man. I was diagnosed with a Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma when I was thirteen. Been through a lot of shit as well so I can relate to this guy. Over five years with no relapse of the cancer so I'm quite grateful for that.
+George Wilkins All of those cars look exactly the same as the car on the assembly line next to it. This evo is a physical manifestation of the owners personality and is unique and beautiful because of that. Not because its made in limited number, outrageously expensive, or an antique.
+Evan D No Ferrari 250 GTO is exactly like the next one, they were hand built, and each is unique, from the factory. Same with the Miura, and MB 300sl gullwing. This car looks very similar to every other Evo I've ever seen; CF hood with obligatory vents, giant wing, huge turbo, a raspy exhaust, and spindley wheels with excessive negative camber. Yes, this guy did a good job building his car, but it's certainly not more impressive than a 250 GTO, and in no way is this car more unique. In the US, an Evo is not really hard to afford, and those aftermarket wings and hoods are everywhere, so this car isn't at all unique in Colorado, whereas a 250 GTO is unique everywhere. In all likelihood, you've seen a similar Evo in person, but never even seen a replica of a 250 GTO. I understand what you're saying about the car being more personalized, but how much on this car is a one-off, made for the car? Because, I have to say, only custom fabricated parts will set this Evo apart from any other.
+Sam Moon While logically you're correct, I still agree with Evan D. The parts may be easily acquired, as may the car itself. This man's heart and soul was poured into this car while he was dying, only to survive his illness in the end. Unless every craftsman on a 250 GTO was on their death bed and pouring their heart and soul into said GTO, your statement is false. While the actual Ferrari may be much more of a rare car, how many Evo's have this story? What you're failing to see is that it's not about the car, it's about the story. To clarify, by no means am I trying to sound offensive to you or assaulting you, only pointing out what I believe and what my interpretations of Evan D's comment was. Not everything's a debate :)
Ratchet L. That's the thing, the man's 'heart and soul' were poured into the car, meaning that was his personal coping mechanism to deal with illness. Since I actually have personal experience with how much cancer treatment costs, it's remarkable this man was able to afford the parts in the first place. While I accept you are just agreeing with Evan, I've only stated my opinion about this car, as well as facts about hand built cars. I'm sorry, nothing about this Evo, or the owner's story is exceptional to me. Many people have, or beat cancer. My coping mechanism was my dog, because I didn't have the money to pay for treatment and build a car. So, no, nothing I said was false, as my dog having saved my live doesn't automatically make her better than any other dog, especially as MANY dogs are used as therapy animals, so again, there is nothing exceptional about my dog, she's just mine. That being said, I can then move on to my impressions of the car itself, and I find it boringly similar to too many other cars I see daily. As a custom car ALWAYS has a story, there are a lot of cars built as coping mechanisms for tragedy, the next Mk4 Supra you see may very well be a tribute car, we are then allowed to give our opinion/impression of the car itself, and I apologize, but this Evo is pretty much identical to a lot of the Evos in Denver. I appreciate the story, but I don't find the car nearly as impressive as a Ferrari 250 GTO. To that end, please look up the 250 GTO yourself, it WAS a labor of love for the craftsmen who built them, as it was for Enzo himself.
4 Years later, this car is still one of the best looking cars in my book honestly. I can’t get my eyes off of the wheels and the carbon fiber parts, and how it sounds. Man I wish Evo’s were more popular in my country.
My Evo also saved my life. I had a stiff neck for years and a few 2nd gear pulls later, the pain went away for good. Jokes aside, very inspiring story!
Awesome video. Im currently fighting with Hodgkin's lymphoma and going threw the chemotherapy. What's keeping me going is building my turbo Miata. It's been a rough road but something about working on that car keeps me going. I understand and know what you're going threw or went threw. You have my prayers.
This makes me even more excited and determined for when I buy and build everything I need to create a Voltex Cyber kitted FQ340 Evo 8. It's what I live for, and what I love and want. I want to be known for what I drive and what I did with my life
I know deeply how it feels to be connected to your car. I'm 17, I don't even have a driving license, forget about owning a car, but I still know how good it feels to own a car. The amount of time you spend on customizing your car, making it your own, feeling every aspect, every edge, every detail of your car, that is the thing that makes you fall in love with it. In case you were wondering"how, even without a car", the credits go to video games, especially NFS series.
I wish more people understood that not everyone that builds cars like this are just doing it to impress others that mean nothing to them or just cuz they think it's cool. Building cars are a great way to get through whatever you're going through and for many it's very hard to deal with, but when you have a passion to focus on (which can be anything, but in this case it's building cars), it just makes life easier and takes the edge off and the satisfaction, sense of accomplishment and enjoyment you get from driving your project for the first time and then keeping it going, making it better, stronger and faster and pushing it to it's limits and then improving it to exceed those limits makes you realize that life is really worth living and enjoying the things you love to do. For some like Jon, it may be a terminal illness that pushes you into building and accomplishing your goals & dreams, for others it may be personal demons you're fighting and dealing with depression, or the loss of a loved one or something like that, either way there are many people out there like this and it makes me very happy to see someone like this with his issues plowing through them and realizing his dreams through his car. Thanks for posting and sharing this video, Jon's car and the story behind it are both very badass and I hope he keeps on going with it.
I mean I'm not old enough to drive and even if I could, I wouldn't be able to afford it because according to the insurers, I am liking to go racing around the streets at night, strap a paint can to the exhaust and deliberately try to crash my car into oncoming traffic....
i love that headlight intake though...

Get a raliart instead? or maybe tune the wastegate to make it almost equal to one.
In my opinion i prefer an evo over a Subaru mostly, because everyone has them in my block it's way to wide spread almost like roaches where i live.
but a raliart is way cheaper and only takes a few hundred dollars to get it to perform like an evo X
Get the galant vr4 it’s litterlely a cheap evo that’s older and lighter
that is one of the nicest evos i have ever seen that turbo intake through the headlight

Preying for his quick recovery. He can get back to normal. Love from USA
Enthusiast2024 thanks a million, he's after beating the second bout of cancer and he's his old self again now but the doctors basically said that if he gets it again that'll be the last time

Hey man I have Hodgkin's lymphoma too and have been fighting for 5 years straight already. You have been inspiring me to build my dream truck, a 91 Cummins. Hopefully as I restore my truck, my body will also be restored.
Hopefully Ill be able to say that my truck helped save my life one day too.
You do it man
You can do it. Everything is possible if you try. If you fail, try again. Good luck with your cancer. Prays for you.

this gentleman has the rare gift of a life full of inspired friends who love him unconditionally, his car made him cope and drove him to survival but his friends and mother were the people who saved him. Speechless..

At first I thought some how a semi truck was about to rear end him and the Evo launched just in time and was able to speed off before impact.

2020
How old are you guys?
this is one of the most beatiful cars i have ever seen.
really? Ferrari 458 Italia, Alfa Romeo 4c, maybe Jaguar f-type , Porsche 918, Ferrari 250 GTO, Lamborghini Miura, definitely Jaguar E Type, Mercedes-Benz 300S.
+George Wilkins All of those cars look exactly the same as the car on the assembly line next to it. This evo is a physical manifestation of the owners personality and is unique and beautiful because of that. Not because its made in limited number, outrageously expensive, or an antique.
+Evan D
No Ferrari 250 GTO is exactly like the next one, they were hand built, and each is unique, from the factory.
So much sentimental value in that Evo mate
I want at least a Evo,NSX or a R34 just one of them before I die
+Hariz Hafi Iconic, but quite a range! Into the older versions of the GTR or Scoobys??
BulletProofGaming mostly the R34 for me the fanboys destroy the R35
+Hariz Hafi you shall get one.......just not from me! :)
+Hariz Hafi R33 is all '34 is, but cheaper!
Looks like we have the same taste! Just add the Mk4 Supra :)
Jokes aside, very inspiring story!
fuck literally the only video that has made me cry and realize I love cars because of my family

Respect for the car and the owner!
Great guy. A man who had immense strength inside and outside.
