    Great video as always Sir... I love cleaning my boots. Although I am lazy with under the soles I don't use the toothbrush just have the jetwash on a gentle pressure and quickly get the mud out the treads that way haha.

    Going to get some scarpa gtx at the weekend hopefully. Sick of fabric shoes goretex break down had wet feet this weekend way so not good.
    Great video though. Would you recommend the g wax over scarpas own cream? Or even dubbin?

      Hi Andy, good luck with the new boots. I went from Leather to Gortex back to leather again and I am happy with the Scarpa.
      Personally I use the G wax. I heat it a bit before use. but the others would be fine, I think it’s more a point of caring for your leather. ATB. Grays

    I suggest applying the wax indoors. If you are wearing a winter coat, it is too cold. After waxing, heat up the boots with a hairdryer to really let the wax melt in. Let dry overnight and then buff the boots with a brush or soft cloth. Works great !

    That's the proper way to maintain your boots in my opinion. As for myself, I tend to use different types of wax to treat the boots: more fluid wax for the leather and more viscous wax for the seams (like meindl wax, which is more persistent).

    • @GraysOutdoors
      @GraysOutdoors  3 года назад +2

      Cheers for watching Thomas. Another wax that is also recommended is the Neatsfoot oil. The horse riders use it on their saddles. I am going to try it next time. ATB. Grays.

    • @GraysOutdoors
      @GraysOutdoors  Год назад +1

      Hi StoicM. I haven’t done a review on the Scarpa boots, boots are very personal relating to foot shape so I am not going there😁. I only use the wax and sometimes I heat it a bit. The wax does the waterproofing really well.

    Hi, great video. I’ve recently purchased a set of Scarpa terra GTX and the G wax with them and I was wondering if you need to wax them before you use them? They are brand new. Do they need waxing straight out the box or should you use them first? If so… how many times before first wax? Thanks!!

    • @GraysOutdoors
      @GraysOutdoors  3 года назад +1

      Hi Tom. Thanks for the question. I have never polished my new boots but after a bit of use ( not a science and every boot gets different amount of use) especially if there are any scratches give them a polish. ATB. Grays

      I suggest using a leather conditioner on new boots to assist with the break-in. A lotion or cream is more readily absorbed than a dubbin. Save the dubbin for after first saddle soap cleaning.

    • @GraysOutdoors

      Hi Wayne, I wouldn’t wax suede however I do wax the softer tongue of my Deltas which is a soft leather, you can get a special brush to clean suede. Good luck.

    I use That same G-wax on my Itturi boots and it's a pig to apply, I used a hair dryer several times but when you get it right it's good stuff, just don't expect a shiny boot afterwards because you won't get one.
    I tried Neats foot oil on a pair of Zamberlan boots but they stay sticky for ever so not for me I'm afraid.

    • @GraysOutdoors

      Sorry mate I was not getting at you it is just that beeswax is a nightmare to apply, IMO.
      I am looking for a Lanolin, beeswax, mink oil mix for some Alt-berg boots I have coming next week and as they are very expensive, they need to last.
