I don't agree with all of her beliefs but she says throughout the video stuff like "just for me" and about how SHE'S comfortable I didn't hear her shaming anyone.
I don't dress quite this modestly (like I wouldn't feel the need to wear a short-sleeve under that dress, or a pair of shorts with my swimsuit), but I feel like I dress more modestly than some people do. For me, I dress modestly because it makes me feel more comfortable and confident when I go out. I don't think there's anything wrong with people who don't dress as modestly as I do, though!
I hope you don't take what I'm saying personally I'm just expressing what I think.
I actually like this video. I appreciate how Kristen isn't bringing down other women for the way they dress. And I appreciate how she doesn't call other women "raunchy" or "indecent" in this video. It's a nice shift in attitude and I'm happy to see it.
exactly !! everyone’s being so rude but she always included the phrases “whatever you’re comfortable with” and “based on your preference” she’s just giving people tips that do want to dress modestly and if they do that’s totally fine. she’s not forcing it on everyone. i don’t get why people are being rude. if she did say some things in the past, this shows that she’s learning and changing.

i’m christian but i think that men shouldn’t be looking at women like objects and they should respect us???
I think men should be taught to “bounce” their eyes when they see something that’s causing them to stumble; however, the clothing choices we make can make it either easier or more difficult to do that. I hold men and women equally responsible.

Great tips! I also find that looking for vintage or vintage inspired bathing suits have a little more coverage as well. I'm okay with wearing a two piece as long as the bottoms are high waisted, and a lot of vintage swimwear has high waisted bottoms or even a cute swim skirt.

Fast Fashion companies such as Old Navy still use factories that have horrific working conditions for their employees, which are mostly women just trying to earn a living wage. Perhaps research companies for a future video that have ethical fashion practices or use your platform to address companies such as Old Navy to do better and be more transparent about how their clothes are made. If Christians would care more about topics such as these and take action - then real change could happen.

Alejandra Tovar people comment because there are such young impressionable girls on this platform who are being told how to dress. We want them to know you should never let someone make you feel bad or “impure” for the clothes you wear. That is a destructive and unhealthy message to send.
Amanda Daly An example: "want to dress more vintage, wear this". Is that forcing someone to do that?no, it's just a recommendation on how to dress a specific way. Same thing here, she's showing people who are looking to dress modest some options. She never came for anyone or said ur "impure" for not wearing what she wears.

It’s so weird how it’s always a specific strain of Christian girl who acts like ‘dressing modestly’ is like this 24/7 challenge when there are literally THOUSANDS of basic-but-stylish loose linen shifts on Amazon alone. At a zillion different lengths so you can show as much leg as you want (or don’t want, as the case may be).
And there are all kinds of sites where you can buy modest running shorts (with the built in skirts over top).
Or it’s targeted more towards women/girls who are newly finding their way into modest attire. It’s not hard but not everyone has the imagination to start on their own.
But sometimes it’s hard to find outfits that suit the weather, look cute, and are a length that is correct for them

Definitely not Christian, but I relate to wanting to be a little more modest in the summertime. Most of these suggestions were more modest than I'd wear, but I appreciate the discussion.
I don't understand why sometimes people have to always twist things and make it about them, like you don't have to watch the video. These are her practical tips, most times the one who leaves the negative comments are the ones who disagrees with you. Why can't they disagree in love and then leave the video.

I have found Girl Defined to be a blessing. My issue is with the the trolls who always have negative input. They don’t have to watch the channel, just keep on moving. We have enough negativity in our world as it is.

Personally I don't agree with the obligation for women to dress modestly, but those who wanna dress modestly and that's what makes you happy then go for it girl.. although I kind of like the idea of dressing modestly in a way since it shows that women don't need to show skin to feel beautiful and feel confident in themselves
Even better than wearing a full tshirt underneath, is a crop t-shirt, or even a crop tank that has a higher neckline. Then you only have an extra layer down to just above your waist. It’s way cooler on hot summer days.

Looking at these comments, I don’t understand why you are watching a video on modesty if you have no interest in it. Clearly, the video is aimed at women who want to be modest, so let them be. You wouldn’t go on a vegetarian video and comment “or how about everyone just eat what they want”. Everyone can do what they want, that’s exactly the point, so if this is isn’t what you want, mind your business and keep it moving.
The criticism doesn’t come from a place of making women not be “modest”. They criticize the channel because this women are weaponizing religion so that they can sell you their book.

Always a hot topic (pun intended) 😂 but yes I personally don’t like wearing shorts so I’ve found some really cute flowy/breezy pants that are perfect for summer! I also still wear jeans but I try to find cotton jeans that are not thick

Great video! If you want modest bathing suits and you're from outside the US, check out Decathlon, they have one pieces with extended shorts. Decathlon is pretty much located all over the world, except for the US.

As a curvy girl, and now pregnant, it's harder to find modest summer clothes, so even finding ways to make some of my old summer clothes more modest is super helpful! I want to balance comfort and modesty.
When it comes to wearing the shirt under the dress, you can cut it into a crop top so you only have one layer on your back and tummy if you tend to overheat!!! No one can tell the shirt is cut from the outside :)

I love that this video gives practical advice for women and girls who want to have the choice to dress how they want. Modern fashion tends to take that choice away because they assume everyone wants the same thing.

i dress quite conservatively myself, but I have learned to do it like a hijabi (without judging other women, and with an actual sense of style) instead of like an evangelical christian

Try looking at Zulily. They have very thin and breezy tshirts that cant see through and very modest and not low and super cute. Along with adorable skirts that go below the knee that are perfect for the summer.

Quick tip: if you have a low cut top and you want some coverage, get bandeau tops with the lace to wear over your bra (I got three from Amazon for like $10). It’ll look like a cami without the extra full layer.

I love wearing dresses in the summer! Definitely cooler than even wearing shorts and a tanktop because there isn't much fabric pressing against you. For bathing suit, I do the one piece with some shorts and it works great! Sporty/Surf swimsuits are definitely the best in terms of support and coverage.

They just don't understand but grace is what we're under now and a little grace goes a long way. You never know where the Holy Spirit begins in convicting others and an aggressive exclamation point isn't edifying. Maybe they're just interested. They can say their opinion, you can listen but that doesn't mean you have to agree just because you listen and you can start a dialogue where honestly they may have not had an interaction and really just don't understand. But an angry spirit is not Godly and will turn them off.

Modesty is fine for an individual. It makes me uncomfortable that people preach modesty as something women do to prevent the “male” gaze. Men are not animals, and women are not here to please men.

Love this! My 8-year-old daughter seems to be struggling with why I won't let her wear the crop tops we see everywhere. We have had so many talks but there is still a fight. I need videos of modest/Christian girls to share their tips and wisdom on why we dress modest (pg version) and how to still feel stylish and confident. I don't want her to follow the world's view of stylish. I also am tired of fighting her. someone help this momma out and share a video for young girls or share a video that you might stumble across.
