Great review Terry. Like always, I appreciate your detailed reviews, especially when the cost to acquire this ship is high. For me, I think I’ll just stick with my Tirpitz, or with the Richi, if teaming with a CV.
Thanks, much appreciated. It's a tech tree ship, so you free to unlock once the line is out. T8 is a difficult tier for BBs, Richie, Roma - but I still love my Tirpitz as well :)
it's a big tank, that's for sure. But I feel like it's kinda balanced over the guns - slow reload, and the ballistics make them tricky to use against BBs. Given the prevalence of HE spam, it's nice to see another damage-over-time sponge aside from the USN line.
I think Amagi would still land more shells on a target per minute at range than Vladivostok would. The dispersion on Amagi is not bad, and quite consistent. Definitely looking forward to trying out Vladivostok once the line is released. Great video, Terry!
The guns suffer a bit, either from the ballistics or from the shell penetration (or both). The flat arcs make them deadly against cruisers, but they can feel average against battleships, since they mostly tend to hit the belt, as opposed to the deck on higher-flying shells. They work best at long ranges, where you get higher arcs, but still can be a bit frustrating. I like the placement of the line, although I feel like the IJN BB line is getting powercrept by this - tanks with good armour, good damage-over-time defence and excellent range precision. I'll have to play some higher-tier IJN ships to see how the guns compare.
No, that pretty much invalidated all previous builds. That's a bit of a problem with reviews, they do have a "best before" date, e.g. when ships get rebalanced, new information becomes available, the meta changes etc.
@@FunandGameswithTerry so just stick with fire and flood resistance for the captain skill if appropriate and for elite bonus and modules choose something else?
what equipment you used like i want medium tank but the best damage with citadel pure menace help me out recommend me something like this in equipment to choose thank you
I use the technique that terry described in the Piotr Vielski video. Turn the ship broadside on to the enemy and pound them. I find that the bow in armor is not good and you can get citadeled. Try sitting broadside on. The enemy will pour fire on you, but you will survive and they won’t
I haven't, but one of my biggest complaints at the time was the concealment, so that's definitely a good change. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the "supercruisers" - too easy to take down with battleships, not very useful against DDs - for a multirole ship I'd prefer a rapid-firing heavy cruiser.
Dispersion looks like everything inside the firing range should be broadsiding to do some more damages somehow better dispersion than the north carolina
After playing lots of matches against the Vladivostok, i found out that my North Carolina has the ability to citadel the Vlad even in long range... and it also eats lots of full pens
@@FunandGameswithTerry Aw that sucks 😔. That vlad is my favourite ship. Btw, I really appreciate that you still reply to comments. Most youtubers dont do that.
It's a very common misconception that you stay at long range you hit the deck and close range all you have to shoot at is the belt. That's not true at all. You can shoot at the enemy ships guns which also increases your chance of getting a citadel which is why I definitely think CQC is an option with Russian BBs against enemy battleships
Based on my test games so far, I get better results at medium to long range, with higher arcs. At brawling distance, even when aiming at the superstructure, my shells tend to plonk right into the main belt, way below my aim. I'll experiment a bit with aiming actually above the target, but that's not an issue I have with e.g German BBs, which I commonly play at those ranges.
I've actually been playing IJN BBs to see how they compare. Sad Nagato noises... although her base dispersion seems better. And the secondary angles on her are just way better than on the Soviets - not a problem I ever thought I'd have. Need to get myself an Amagi and see what she can do.
Good review...maybe I ll do the soviet bb line or try to get this one... the sinop look good for t7 but not saw any in difference with the vladivostok... this last one I been mmed with and against... I don't think she ll be overpopulated in game at midd time but she looks interesting...
It's a hard choice, since you have to weigh it against the extinguisher skill. I'd consider AR for German BBs, who can make full use of it, but I'm not sure how often you'd find yourself in auto-secondary range in a Soviet BB :) That said, the Germans pay a high price, because they burn so easily, whereas this thing has a bit more defence against fires naturally, but unless you're planning on a full brawler build, I probably wouldn't bother, and stick with extinguisher.
@@FunandGameswithTerry but again in close quarters where I find myself quite often, the ship who can shoot the salvo quicker wins generally And with long 22.3s reload its gonna suffer against Bismarck in CQC I think
Hello Terry good day- can you make video on how to make use of gold efficiently I mean most of my gold will be for buying new slots for ships (so no gold for shipyard ships)and also how to change captain bcoz captains less than no of ships. So plz help. Also like your detailed review of ships thank you
I generally use gold only for ship slots, historical camos or bargains. If you're running low on slots, you can also sell ships you no longer need to free some space. With captains, I generally have one that progresses through the line, i.e. retrains when I unlock the next tier, and some secondary ones that train on ships I keep, like Cleveland, for example. You can move captains around freely between premiums and black ships, so these can work as trainers.
I'm really hoping there will be at least 1 "keeper" somewhere between tier 7-9 in the Russian battleship tech tree. I just tried my luck with the "legendary commander crate", with odds of success at only 5%. I bought 3 crates for 550 gold, & got him in my 1st crate! I got Beatty in my 2nd crate a few weeks ago. Problem is I don't own ANY Russian destroyers. I own a Shchors, already with a level 8 commander, along with the tier 5 premium cruiser and it's tier 4 sister ship Svietlana. I rage-sold Chapayev due to it's TERRIBLE maneuverability, and don't plan on bothering with the tier 9-10 in that line either. So I need just 1 worthy Russian ship for Kuznetzov to command.....
I have to do a review of the legendary commanders :) can't quite remember what Kuznetsov has for skills, but the Vladivostok is not a bad ship. Not Roma-level, but good at what she does.
@@FunandGameswithTerry BTW, you did a tier 7 cruiser review for me about a year ago(Patrick McLeod), but my LG phone went down not long after, and this is the RUclips account I use most now. I lost my original WOWSB account when trying to login with my new phone, after entering the wrong login info and ending up starting over with a new account entirely in WOWSB! My old WR was 49.7%. My WR now is 66% with 1,700+ games, so I don't miss the old account! Anyway, I read that Kuznetzov has the -4% torp damage, 6th Sense, +20% repair kit boost, +20% turret traverse and 4% dispersion when above 75% health, etc. To be honest, I don't know how effective 6th sense is in WOWSB, because I literally forgot it existed with Beatty in the few games I've played with him in my Monarch!
yeah, the lower belt looks weird. This doesn't match 100% with the ship in-game, but is the closest I could find among the plans that match description and time period. The secondary layout is certainly not the same, she has two superfiring ones in the upper deck, whereas in-game, only one is on the upper, and two on the lower deck. I need to get my hands on some more literature on Russian & Soviet ship designs. Most of it is in Russian, which isn't easily searchable for me.

Roma is special in T8. I'm struggling to get full pens with these guns, and usually end up around 70k dmg. She's interesting though in her role, and with the precise aim, absolutely deadly to cruisers at long range.

The angles are relatively flat, making it actually harder to pen BBs at close range. I wonder if the dispersion got carried over from PC, and doesn't work the same way here due to lack of angling mechanics - in PC, you want to hit the broadside, in Blitz, mostly the deck of enemy BBs.

That's the Indomitable, tier 8 RN premium CV. They're carpet bombers, dropping 3 instead of 1 per plane I think, but no torps in return.
