Beckenbauer is one of the greats, my grandfather said the best of his era. His respect for Bobby Moore is pure class and sums up his greatness.
As an Englishman i was so moved by Franz Beckenbauer`s tribute to the great Bobby Moore. I also remember Beckenbauer`s graceful and incisive play on the pitch, also one of the worlds greats. It just gives me a warm glow when one so great speaks well of another great player.
2 greats from an era when we had real heroes who were great ambassadors too
Many years ago travelled from London to Leeds via kings cross,Bobby was working for a radio station and we said hello to the great man,he invited me and a friend to sit with him,we support Leeds and wasn’t sure how he would be towards us,we sat with him for the whole journey and what an absolute gentleman he was,so humble,so much class, remember he was dressed impeccably, just telling us old stories about football it’ll live with me forever, can’t speak highly enough of the man, absolute diamond of a man,Leeds forever.
Brilliant. Thank you for sharing. Bobby you immaculate and such a kind and modest person.
A gentleman speaking about another gentleman, alas football as life in general doesn't produce people like that anymore
Spoken like the respectful gentleman that Beckenbauer is. That Bobby Moore was only fully acknowledged after his death by the FA for his service to the game is disgraceful. The Captain of English football. R.I.P.
Beckenbauer is a true gentleman and the best midfielder/playmaker I have ever seen. (Even though I’m English)
Hard to disagree.
If you’re a fan of Beckenbauer’s play style watch Frenkie De Jong especially from when he was Ajax and they played him much deeper.
I’m not saying he’s better or worse but he is the closest player I’ve seen to the way he plays since.
Hopefully he comes to the Premier League one day.
@@the_uncle_ted i hope so too.😀
Franz was one of most brilliantly gifted players in the history of football.
Beckenbauer was also a terrific player probably the Greatest Sweeper in the game.Bobby Moore was a great defender also the game misses them.
Along with Beckenbauer, Bobby Moore was the greatest defender of all time.Legendary.
Paulo Maldini as well.
If I had to pick an all time World XI,Franz and Bobby would be at the heart of my defence.Great players but also great leader,RIP to these legends of the game.
Which Bobby? 😅😅😅
@@boomerang8909 lol Moore obviously!😂
Beckenbauer is a class act through and through...
Absolute quality on every level
A wonderful tribute to Bobby Moore. When Franz Beckenbauer says you are the greatest defender in football history, you MUST BE the greatest defender in football history. Rest in peace, Bobby and Franz.
Overall. Bobby Moore was a great defender, His defensive skills were simply superb,!!!!!
And he was a brilliant reader of the game.
Germanys organisation and dedication with England's determination and spirit would of been the most formidable team
What a legend, very modest for such a great player.
When the KAISER says you're the best... You're the best
absolutely
Brilliant player, brilliant nick name, "Der Kaiser" very apt.
A great one says goodbye to another great one. RIP legends, you will not be forgotten.
A gentleman and one of the greatest players I watched sheer class and in my world team along with a Moore of course.
Franz was a very special player and he’s still a great ambassador. Bobby should have been paid for being a great ambassador. It was an absolute disgrace the FA abandoned him.
great sportsmanship great footballer thanks for posting this
Beckenbauer and Moore virtually the same player... master footballers who saw the pitch like a chess board... and both won a world cup as Captain in the home tournament 👌
True greats the both of them. Great comments. JG
They both can swap positions as a sweeper and defensive midfielder.
Der Kaiser - one of the few class acts in football.
Franz is a class act.
Probably one of the defenders in football history 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Probably; who is better?
I think you should class yourself as a gentleman Franz,a very elegant player.🐓
He was great. And still a gentleman
Class
What a chair that is!!
We did the interview in a posh hotel 🏨
Franz is not wrong .
Bobby and Franz 👍👌
Becks is a gentleman!
absolutely. and a great player
Love hearing these comments from Beckenbauer
He’s a real ambassador and legend
@@VISIONSPORTTV we can separate his life as administrator, from his life as a player.
When he speaks about Bobby Moore, its beautiful
Franz Pele and Shankly they all said Bobby was the best defender ever, so I rest my case. Brian LFC YNWA
Always a gentleman
4:32 Yeah that goalkeeper since WC ‘82 was a piece of work for what he did against France, and his rough past got back at his own ass in Euro ‘84, with only Franz able to tell him off then. RIP, win-at-not-so-all-cost Kaiser
Gentleman.
Can you imagine F Beckenbauer and Bobby Moore playing together in Defence not sure most forwards would get a look in
And the FA treated him like shit after he retired... ppl talk about blacks not given a chance in management... bobby was thrown on the trash heap, longing for a chance of a top job..an absolute disgrace.. England’s greatest ever captain not even knighted by the queen 🙄 JOKE!!
Absolutely right. The way the FA ignored Bobby was a bloody disgrace.
I think he would have got knighted but absolutely agree the FA treated him like crap he should of been the ambassador for English football
The FA treated Bobby atrociously. They could so easily given him a job within the FA, maybe as a ambassador. When you see Trevor Brooking being knighted and doing a similar job Bobby would have been a natural.
I'm english, and while I adore Bobby Moore, and know that he's one of the greatest defenders of all time, this must have been shot before Baresi and Maldini came to the fore. There's no doubt in my mind those two are the greatest of all time, with probably Baresi edging it over his teammate
and Beckenbauer was quite probably the best all round footballer ever, able to play anywhere on the pitch, plus he scored plenty of goals
@@martinarcher1503 Jimmy Armfield one said of Beckenbauer: "There are people who will tell you that Franz Beckenbauer is the best footballer ever to play the game - and they may well be right."
Yes & Franco Baresi was a late bloomer. Baresi had been around since the very late 1970s but throughout the 1980s he doesn’t get a look into the Italian national side even though he was part of the 1982 winning squad. Also AC Milan were not dominant until the late 1980s even being relegated twice prior to the successful period.
Charlie hurley was considered Moores equal in the voting hurley came second behind Moore by 2 votes
Kaiser 'Frank?!'
What a player!
What a gent!
For me. And it's close, Beckenbauer was just a touch better than Bobby Moore. Bobby near the end of his England career had some shocking games. Against Germany in.the euros ,1972 I think it was at Wembley. And against poland in a world cup qualifier in poland in 1973. He held onto the ball very nonchalantly and was robbed by the polish striker lubanski who scored and the poles won 2-0.
He was subsequently dropped for the Wembley match. I think Norman hunter took his place. And England ended up not qualifying for the 74 WC
A neutral here: It is a shame some only remember Bobby Moore for the few errors he made whilst playing for England. I saw him play many times for both West Ham and the national team and he was normally perfection.
@@northlincsfox243 He normally was yh, 66 he was great, 1970 arguably at his peak. The Brazil match he had a blinder.
@@mazzgoldie9149 Well said Mazz 😊
@@mazzgoldie9149 I watched the Brazil game and that was the best defensive display i have ever seen, he read that game so well, it was genius
In 1970 England played possibly the best team ever in that Brazil team. For most of the match Moore controlled the defence but eventually they conceded. Him and Pele exchanged shirts at the end and had obvious respect for each other. I think that was probably his peak.
Pronouncing Virgil Van Dijk wrong.
van dijk could never lace the boots of baresi cannavaro beckenbauer maldini vidic ferdinand Terry etc
@@blacks5787you forget Nesta
Duncan Edwards was. If big Duncan did not die moor would have not got in to the national side
Agree Duncan and the babes would have changed course of history for both England and Man Utd
@@VISIONSPORTTV how can you agree with such utter rubbish? Bobby Moore is rated as one of if not the greatest English defenders of all time, and as Beckenbauer says, one of the greatest English footballers full stop. Pele agreed. And you can say with certainty that if Duncan Edwards did not die Bobby Moore would not have played for England? Are you out of your mind? Why would he have had to play instead of Moore? Why not instead of Jack Charlton? Anyway, Duncan Edwards played left half, (wide midfield or defensive midfield) not centre half and frankly could have played anywhere for England. If you want to argue hypotheticals perhaps Nobby Styles would’ve missed out - in the meantime please do not assist in the propagation of such arrant nonsense.
@@frankmachin5438 because I've interviewed many football greats and others who saw Duncan play and they all told me exactly that. Certainly that Duncan would have been captain and not Mooro. By the way I used to go drinking with Bobby Moore, i've made films about him and I think he was awesome. But I'm also a director of the Duncan Edwards Foundation and although he was killed the year before I was born, everything I've found out about Duncan tells me he was the greatest. Where you are in agreement with everyone I've ever spoken to who saw Duncan play is that while he wore the No.6 he was good enough to play absolutely anywhere.
Come on, Stephen. I'm sorry but that's silly. First of all why would England decide because they'd chosen Duncan Edwards that they would not choose Bobby Moore? Why would you restrict yourself in that way? I think part of the problem is that you consider Edwards as a defender. If so, I have to tell you that he wasn't. His position was midfield. He was a brilliant defender when needed but it wasn't his prime position.
Bobby Moore was a great player and I will go with Beckenbauer, when he says Moore was (probably?) the greatest defender.
@@VISIONSPORTTV How can you be so certain, Frank? I would agree that Edwards probably would have been the greatest English (British?) player of all time. But why does that mean he would be the captain? Maybe, maybe not. But how anyone can be certain I find bemusing.
Frank Beckenbauer? 😂
Germany’s greatest ever defender Franz was a big pal of Mooro. Days when there was genuine respect between our top players.
