Think it's worth mentioning the lead engineer on this gun when asked if it was dry fire safe said "you can dry fire the heck out of it". The TX22 has to be dry fired to be disassembled, it does not hurt the gun to dry fire it. Taurus themselves will directly say this

"8 years in, let's keep going" one of my favorite GB Guns highlights!
If it's your 1st time here, stick around, and check out some older videos, it'll be well worth your time (man or woman)... that is if you're at all interested in learning about a particular firearm whose video title you tuned into. IMO, you will find a very comprehensive and unbiased and detailed and entertaining review.

I have the full size TX22, it is the best .22 semi pistol I've shot, it eats almost all the ammo I put in it with very few exceptions & has great ammo capacity for a 22 & is a much better pistol than the Glock 22 which I tried & had a very disappointing experience with, the Glock was very finicky with its ammo. The TX22 ate almost everything, I did experience some issues with lower velocity ammo but it still did ok with them. I love mine, it embarrassed the Glock & cost much less.

Yes, as a fan of Bubbits designs I was hoping we'd get the Taurus (clone?/licensed?) version in the US, but Taurus USA tells me they won't bring it in because it would compete against other current offerings. Sorta like VW no bringing the Scirocco to the US because it would compete with theh GTI.

It's eminently reliable and if it ever does crap out, I'm only missing a Taurus and $200.

I picked up a TX22 a few months ago for plinking and introducing new shooters. A fun little pistol that’s accurate and comfortable to shoot. Loading the mags hasn’t been a problem, just observe the flip-flop. Supposedly they had a problem in early runs of the pistol with rifling out of alignment. Check for concentric grooves in the bore, not wobbled.

The only thing I’m concern about the compact is theres a little material left on the slide cut that show the barrel hood. Thats the only part holding the slide together . My gun came with a none centered barrel (sits very low) so any suppressor added cause drag on the slide (wear marks and malfunctions). Sent back to Taurus, they put 26 round through it none suppressed (knowing already that it functioned with no suppressor, and that it only had issues when suppressed). I called after receiving the pistol back and was told that if it functions without a suppressor, they don’t care

Hello, thank you for making this video. it was extremely beginner friendly which is why I enjoyed watching it way more than other reviewers. I noticed you used snap caps for dry firing, is this required or can you dry fire without snap caps for the TX22 compact? I am a first time buyer and after much research I think I would like to go with the tx22 compact as my first firearm. As far as shooting, I heard that 22lr pistols can suffer for leading/fouling, I am not entirely sure if that is a big problem that I should consider when purchasing this firearm. What are your thoughts on leading and fouling? Thanks again. Really enjoyed the video.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  Год назад

Snap caps are always a good idea for dryfiring rimfire guns like a .22lr. "leading" is the result of shooting a lot of exposed-lead round, the lead scrapes off in the barrel. To avoid issues with that you can either clena your gun religously or stick to jacketed bullets. If you carry a firearm to protect your life then carry a round in the chamber. You won’t have time to chamber a round in 1 second. Your life depends on the choices you make about carrying a pistol for self defense.

I've read the thin aluminum slide develops cracks after a time because of a defect in the spring. Does the Lakeline rod and spring solve the problem, or can the spring can be modified or has Taurus itself remedied the issue? On the basis of numerous reviews and claims that Taurus had "improved their game," one of my early acquisitions was a G3, but I was unimpressed and sold it. I guess I'm a bit leery of Taurus. I think there are better guns for similar or slightly more money.

Shotgun barrels are the only barrels with chrome lining. They cannot chrome line a rifles barrel. It would reduce the ID of the bore and cause issues like bullets getting stuck. Then later the chrome would peal. So no chrome lining on a rifled barreled.

    • @GBGuns

I'm afraid you're terribly misinformed. Rifle barrels have been chrome-lined for decades (eaver heard of the M16?). It is true that chrome lining adds material which then wears down, but as far as internal diameter, the barrels are machined with an allowance for the thickness chrome lining adds.

Every AK made abroad is chrome lined. One fifth of all small arms is AK. Let it sink in.

It's literally a basic rifle barrel coating, shotguns are almost never chrome lined. Chroming rifle barrels has been done since the 1950s

I have had SKS rifles, basically the forerunner to AK rifles, and they had chrome lined barrels.

The Taurus TX22 magazines suck. The spring inside gets weak after time. The gun itself is reliable. I have a red dot and light on mine. I really like mine.

You could use it for SD of course, but it's not ideal. Rimfire ammo is just less reliable than center fire, for instance.
