I’m glad the latest version also supports 96mm. It could potentially be used to make an entire MFT top. Will you guys ever make a larger template for making tops?
I don't understand the need for this? I'd guessed the benefit of the hinge system was that it just slots into the existing dog hole pattern - do you actually need to make additional holes?
Hi, well this all depends on where your holes are relative to the edge of the mft top, as there are a lot of home made tops the holes are generally different on each board.
I like the fact that the rail guide will be automatically square to the table dog holes, but what if I don’t own a plunge router, can these be safely & accurately drilled using a hand held drill?
I bought one of these and used it but struggled to get holes that had no play in them. Just to add I used the recommended router bit and still struggled.
The problem with routers for holes with a 20mm bit is generally down to the routers that have run out. This changes depending on the router used. The quad dogs expand a little to help with this. I would also recommend to dull the bit down first by making a number of hole in some scrap material.
@@Benchdogtoolsthanks for the tip, the bit was brand new and I only tested it on a few holes. It’s kind of ok but is slightly off, maybe about 1/2mm. I ordered one of your hinges in the sale so it shouldn’t be an issue now 😃 Thanks for the reply on Boxing Day 😮
1 - Can it use the template for 96mm x 96mm Trend type benchdog grid? 2 - Can I use the template with my Dewalt router? don't remember it has a 30mm guide... Thanks
Received yesterday. Fantastically made, well presented and well packaged. Only 1 slight issue unless I’m doing something wrong. Copied what holes you used(the second ones) and it doesn’t go down past the ally surround of the mft itself. May have to file the nuts off a bit as I’m not sure if the last hole setting will give me enough support, as it’s proper close the the edge of the table. This was on the mw1000 so just got the big table to do next.
Hi glad you have received your item and happy that you like what you have received. would you be able to email me some photos to contact@benchdogs.co.uk also we have the instruction manual on the website for download if this helps.

Poor quality video....so disappointed. Please ask Peter Millard to help with video/sound production.
And what to do when jig doesn't fit in existing holes?
Will the "346 Hinge System Hole Jig" be available for purchase by itself?
Yes it’s available on our website. Check the shop menu for hinge system.
@@Benchdogtools Will you be offering an anodized version sometime in the future?

@@box0xB9 All the parts are anodised, this was a prototype version. full instructions will be shown with the anodised version.
Could you not have shown the new holes you have just routed? Ditto the other side and the fitting and working of the hinge?
Ill be making a new video for the jigs soon
I didn't understand what this was for.
This is for making the additional holes for our hinge system

you would need to be able to make either 32mm or 48mm in between the 96mm grid
