In this week’s woodworking build we make the Ultimate Drill Press table with 3 ways to collect dust. I use a unique sliding table design to keep the dust collection working no matter where the fence is. There’s a dust collection wand, dust collection in the fence and the table. The table hole works as a vacuum hold down as well. There is a-track in the fence for the Katz-Moses Stop Block and a t-track in the table for hold downs. I really can’t wait to see what you create! Let me know what you’d like to see next. Thanks for watching! Please like, comment and subscribe. Cheers!

Jonathan Katz-Moses do you have a file for sale for your cnc’d plywood corner jigs?
Jonathan Katz-Moses: top of the line tools everywhere and a very professionally built shop
Also Jonathan Katz-Moses: black and decker jigsaw
You get my thumbs up for the “that’s what she said reference!” Just ordered two of your stop blocks and a dovetail guide earlier this week. They should arrive tomorrow, so stoked! Keep making sawdust, love what you’re doing!
Building it as we speak, or as I type, whatever, you know what I'm saying...Simplistic and fun build , can't wait to use it!
7:37 - It's snowing in Cali! Best design I've seen, it may even convince me to build a drill press table! Keep 'em coming.
Next on the project list: dust collection for your plunge router ;)
Now if you just build extendable side wings that slide out on square tubing, you will have the Ultimate Drill Press Table. Great job.
got the thumbs up for the LOL with Michael saying "that's what she said"! great job.
That michael scott reference was seamlessly perfect lol.
Hahahaha so good
It was most certainly a thing of beauty.
Now I want a drill press even more... Well done sir, well done!
Ey dude!! I really enjoy your explanations, and we have the same kind of footages too.. is amazing how we can enjoy the same work (woodworking) with cool camera shots, it turns the video very enjoyable.
Muchos gracias mi amigo. Me gusto tu canal. Mi espanol es malo jajaja
@@katzmosestools hahahaha, as bad as My English??? It doesn't matter buddy, we speak with our hands the universal maker language 🤟😎... I'll be looking forward for more content
Thanks for the great video! I've been wanting to do this with my drill press! Thanks , man!
Just the inspiration I needed! Lovely job
Thank you!
Yep, one of the best shop builds I've seen. Excellent design Johnathan.
Thanks bud!
Great video Jonathan a must make when I get around to building my new shop after the house renovation
Dust collection for the win!
God damn that thing is nice looking! Love the features too
Very beautiful project!!
Very beautiful, learned, we do it by traditional techniques
Another excellent video! You've been a huge help to me as a beginner!
I really appreciate it my friend!
Another fantastic video and build. Thanks for sharing. I think grooving or putting a bunk of holes or grids into that middle replaceable plate will improve dust collection like a mini down draft table but with bigger holes for the curls. Love your videos!
Turning shavings into TP tutorial would really be your best shop project yet.
Rob Cosman just did haha
Turned out awesome Jonathan, great job! 😃👍🏻👊🏻 ..... Thanks for the info too, you really made baffling less baffling! 😉
Thanks Freddy!
Nicely done man! Love it!
Moses is using all these high quality tools then pull out the Black & Decker jigsaw.
One of these things is not like the other!
Love Danny D in the background!!!
Brilliant idea & multipurpose
Thank You!
Awesome build!
Just waiting for the day Danny becomes a real boy!
Awesome build.
Very Nice Build. Really like it.
Great video and great music!
Very nice!
Looks sweet! I would love to see some working examples, particularly of how that sliding top is used.
Same here, I am wondering what the benefit of that could be...
I just came across this video of your drill press adjustable top. Now I am rethinking my project and installing drawers. I found two Craftsman work benches that need some work and a better top. I have a heavy desk top that is going across both benches at a 90 degrees. I was going to put in a simple 5 foot box for storage and built in lights. After seeing your drawers you built I going to change my plan around.
Love the b-roll
Just checking in. Nice set up.
Great Video Bud👍
Beautifully done. I mean, that's no surprise to anyone, though, right? :)
Cool stuff!
Thanks Ron!
i have that same track saw. a hose and some tape over hole on side and dust collection is Incredible
I love that thing

As someone who is interested in horology in addition to woodworking, you have made a good choice with your SEIKO 5 SNK805 watch. 👍⌚
Nice build bud
😂😂😂2.10, love it. Even if the project was bad (which it of course isn't! 😉) It's totally worth watching the video for that clip! Great work as always.
Lol
Very nice. I know you are a pro but as a novice it would be helpful if I knew how long it took you to make a project. It would give me a baseline, something to shoot for after the quality is up to par. I enjoy all your videos. Thanks and keep 'em coming.
about 12 hours
8:51 are you saying that it's going to be the cherry on top????
Ba Dum Tsssssss!
Love your vibes man. Instant sub
Welcome my friend!
I just came over here after seeing you on Farrington's channel. Your video is great. I really appreciate the editing and quality of work. Thanks!
Welcome my friend
Moses pulling out all these high priced tools then wipes out the B&D jigsaw!
One of these things is not like the other! 😂
Very cool and timely. I've been wanting to make one but never found a design I liked. Thanks for posting. Wanted to tell you that if you give Danny a chance the next time he may be flipping the bird instead of the peace sign. Just sayin'...
Hahaha I want the one where he starts blasting
"Did you make a start on those cupboards dear?" "No, but I have ANOTHER table, jig, bench, etc..."
Would have liked to see your plumbing for vacuum hoses Thanks for sharing
It did show it. It's just a 2.5" hole in the back left side and a tee fitting. The center cavity is where the air passes.
Wow
Hey Jonathan this table is great. Do you intend on putting a set of plans out for this at some point?
Howdy Danny !!!!!!
Have you looked at a dust shroud typically used for hammer drills or angle grinders for silica dust collection? Might work better than your directed hose.
Actually, your idea of a dust shroud is most likely THE best, most practical dust collection idea I've seen yet. I have the Festool OF1400 router and the dust shroud that comes with that would be perfect for a drill table application. You'd just need to fasten it to a piece of flat mdf or plywood or Plexiglas with an adequate hole cut out of it and go. I think it would work substantially better and in most if not all cases than anything I 've seen on RUclips.
Look up 'Bernoulli's Law of Fluid Dynamics'. The Venturi effect. That's the principle you were trying to describe about the airflow at the beginning.
I will. Thank you
Steve Carel, Danny DeVito, and Jonathan Katz-Moses in one video!
Another project that sucks
With the zero clearance insert, could / would a “peg board” style insert work with dust collection like for sanding boxes, OR would the extra holes decrease collection??
It would cost nothing to test it. Could work
very nice looking saw dust hair gel @7:45 lol
hahahaha
I love that table, and I also love that drill press. I have a drill press table on my to-do list, but mine is tiny compared to yours, and I won't have room for draws which means I probably won't be able to have an extract system beneath the table. That drill is crying out for a new chuck btw. I'm guessing it uses a #3 Morse taper, and a 16mm (5/8") keyless chuck is about US$50 on Amazon.
Watch my auction video. I got that drill press for $150
Using that. Matchfit Dovetail Clamps to secure from the bottom was a genius idea - I might have seen that somewhere before - maybe, but can't remember where (hahaha). Now in the routing scene that was taking the "sawdust is man glitter" thing to the extreme! Great build. Just a couple of questions: I think my drill press table handle for raising and lowering might be hampered by the unit your built - how did that work out for the design of your drill press - okay, apparently? Having the large drawers on there, does that limit your ability to lower the drilling surface so you can put taller items under the bit? Maybe that is only a problem for the benchtop drill presses that most of us have.
i know the T-track is Al so it's fine, but it still hurts my soul to see you cut it with a japanese saw.
It's an old used blade I keep around for doing those kind of things
All the blades in my shop are USED ones...and.....I don't abuse them !!!
What is that production quality? Holy hell. And I'm loving the 4K.
Right!?! Marc crushes it!
Newbie question here ... what is the purpose of the lower t-track that allows the upper table to slide foward & back?
Just received your stop block for my crosscut sled. Game changer! Great stuff, keep up the good work.
Great build. I’m just not clear of the advantage of the sliding top compared to having just the fence slide.
Great project , I am disappointed the classics craftsman drill press is being replace . Threat thing wa cool !
Looks awesome. I think I'll do a much slimmed down version for my bench top drill press. I need a wider table with a fence for that anyway. I just have a regular shopvac for dust collection, would I need to modify the air channel a whole lot since I probably have significantly less CFM?
Lol. "Happy Little Accident".
Shout out to Bob Ross. R.I.P.
Interesting design but could you add some demonstration of how to use it. Specifically, explain how to use the sliding/reversible insert.
I'm making a _much_ smaller table and was thinking about a sliding insert routed with a dovetail bit. That would let it slide but not lift out. Any thoughts on that design? Thanks for the great video!
Sounds like you wouldn't be able to remove it. Not sure why you'd want that
Oh hi Danny.
Great build! Do you have a link to the hold down clamps you are using? I bought the t track you linked for my cross cut sled, but the power Tec hold down clamps I bought don't fit the t track. Most of what I'm finding is 5/16" 18 thread and I don't think any of them will work.
Great looking table. Good job with the build video. Where did you get that thick block of cherry.
Thanks. Mayan Hardwood in Oxnard
What is the squaring jig (5:08 in the video) made from? Cool design - are the holes just to lighten it up or are they for clamps? Seems like they would be great for square casework with clamps
I really like this design, are there plans for sale in the works
Can you do a video over nails and nail guns? I noticed you used two different guns and nails. Since I just started in woodworking I Would love to find out proper use and application.
Good idea
Hey JKM, I’m about to build your dust collecting drill press table. I know it’s been two years since you built yours, do you have any changes you would make after using for a while?
Have you done a video on those corner blocks you use? Did you cut them on the CNC or by hand using the table saw?
I haven't. It's a design by fireball tools.
i have the same drill press and it is a work horse, the only problem is that since the machine is moreo f a machinist drill press, the table doesn't have through holes to mount anything and there aren't many options other than clamping the new table to it.
What no dovetails on the drawers? Awesome job
Grain matching is pretty
This press has worked like a charm for my projects ruclips.net/user/postUgkxajoEbapTfqWaadnqb04h6U576yxXp-FE . I didn't even secure it to my table top, mainly due to the fact that I was using a 15 lbs drill vise. It's not flimsy at all as to what others have claimed it to be. Make sure the locking nuts and levers are secured and there won't be any issues with light pressure and patience. I was able to drill through aluminum, plastic, and steel (steel took a while) with no problems at all. Yeah it took a little longer than a regular drill press, but I don't have the space OR the money for one.The instruction manual was worthless, but luckily assembling the press was intuitive. However, the manual would be good for ordering replacement parts if needed. There is a nice breakdown of the parts that are included in the kit. Before ordering, make sure it is compatible with your unit, it is clearly stated what models the press is compatible with. This was an excellent purchase for $40!!
Nice job, was that a Jess em router lift ?
Hello there, I really like your drill press box. Could you please let me know where you get your red T-track?
Thanks very much.

Hey Jonathan. What video editing software do you use? I'm interested in the ability where you add the text labels with lines to show what different items are
That's either done in premiere or after effects.
@@katzmosestools Gotcha, thanks. Man premier is expensive!
@@katzmosestools Lol, well I can get a free student license for 2 months before I graduate!
Quick question: I just bought my first drill press and wanted to make a table for it. It's a 12" bench top one. Doesn't making a table take up a bunch of the clearance on a drill press? Am I missing something? Maybe my drill press is so small that making a table for it doesn't make much sense.
It does. Mine has almost 5 feet of up and down travel though.
Did I just see you cut Aluminium T Track with a Ryoba?
You would happen to have plans would ya?
Great job. What type of face mask are you using?
Aaaaaand, how do you adjust the table hight without dismounting the table?
There's a crank on the back. Very easy
Is Pine Good for countertops?
How do you rate the Mikita track saw? I have been looking it vs the dewalt. Thanks
love it
Jonathan Katz-Moses thank you, going to buy one now.
Hi Jonathan, I really appreciate the workmanship and design in this project but for people with a benchtop drill press, it is not of any use. If you come up with one for a benchtop I would buy the plans if it would fit my small workshop. Cheers, Huw
Where do you buy your baltic birch plywood?
Channel City Lumber in Goleta
My drill press table doesn't have through holes/slots either and I was wondering how I'd attach a table that was still easily removable
I am making a small removable table for my tiny bench-top drill. Mine is basically a top, pieces to guide the steel table below, and caul-like clamps to grab the table. I loosen the knobs below and my table slides off. I've also got a simple fence that clamps on the top. It's nowhere near Jonathan's table, but my little drill would tip over with his beautiful beast of a table.
Those match fit clamps work great
Is that one of those fancy Matt Estlea marking knifes?
Yep. It's the best
@@katzmosestools hey thx for the reply, do you have any problems with accuracy using a double bevel knife vs a single?
@@WatchWilliamTV nope
It's killing me that the dust collection slot on the fence does not line up with the zero clearance insert 😱😱😱😱
2 things: first, I was literally look up how to do something like this last week! Crazy coincidence
Secondly; what’s up with Danny debits being in the background of your videos now?
Drunk Christmas shopping
Jonathan Katz-Moses a wonderful purchase, if I may say so! You guys safe in Cali? NYC is a S@$T show.
