What young royals managed to do by portraying such a healthy and balanced relationship between two teenage boys is really such a victory honestly. I hope this show gets a second season because it really does mark the start of such genuine and honest portrayals of young love and we absolutely need more of that right now

I also like that they didn't make the main conflict of the show the fact that Wille is dating a boy but more so the aspect of royalty and him being the crown prince aka having to continue the bloodline. just the simple fact that they didn't include overt homophobia in the show was such a breath of fresh air and I'm rlly looking forward to seeing how theyre going to deal with this topic from here on. Wilhelm and Simon need to start their revolution of love ;-;

I fell in love with the series and have honestly watched nothing else on Netflix since July. I believe I’ve watched most all the reactions ( which I didn’t even know were a thing ) to this series. This series is so beautiful I watched it three times in a row because I wanted to focus on the details. I had the same feels watching it as the first time. This series is so beautifully made that it is capable of speaking to you. I place this alongside SKAM, Gameboys, and I Told Sunset About You.
What I love best is how they wrote Simon’s character. Such a strong character who knows his worth. He knows how to walk away when he is not getting valued. But also knows to open his mind given the right circumstances. Over time, I always believe that when love comes, I will succumb to it and it wil cloud my judgement. Simon balances both being caring and loving and understanding self-worth.
The actors, the music, the storyline, the production... everything. Thank you Netflix for bringing this to us. Here’s to waiting for the second season.

The trailer for this series was terrible but luckily I thought I'd give it a try. Thank goodness or I would have missed a masterpiece . The connection between the two leads is amazing, the emotion is so real. Edvin gives such a sensitive and convincing portrayal of the turmoil that Wilhelm feels when torn between his love for Simon and the pressures and expectations of his role as Crown prince. If this does not get a second (+3rd and 4th) series I will lose all faith in Netflix. Compared to the majority of vacuous offerings that Netflix churns out this series is in a league of it's own.
i thought the same!! the trailer gave me suchhh elite vibes: rich kids and their problems... i only started watching because i liked the fact the actors are real teenagers / look like teenagers and they act like someone of that age. but it was so cute the trailer could be better

idk if you know or not but netflix renewed young royals for a season 2, it was renewed in september last year, but they announced that they had started filming in february.we dont have an ETA for season 2, but with the rough time netflix takes to release new shows, we could be seeing an autumn 2022 release, but depending on if they had s2 planned, contracts and all that we could see s2 as early as the summer.

Lesbian movies/tv shows need to be more like this. Peaceful. Relaxing. Gentle acting. But still enough drama to keep you hooked. I don't get why all the lesbian stuff advertised these days have to be so intense; like it's annoying enough when your life doesn't reflect the kind of intense, passionate affairs represented on screen, they gotta make it as hot and click baity as porn!! Stop it. Just build a relationship that's attainable, thank you. Like this. I don't know about anyone else but I'd want a relationship where we just know intrinsically how we feel about each other and we don't have to chase each other or prove our love, it's just natural and grounded. I totally agree it’s completely frustrating!! I 100% recommend Skam France season 6 it’s all on RUclips with English subtitles you don’t need to watch the previous seasons beforehand as each season is a limited character study. Season 6 follows Lola who suffers with mental health issues and ends up in bad and abuse relationships but falls for Maya who teachers Lola to love and respect herself. It’s a beautiful filmed and written story showing a teens life suffering with mental health and working their way through love.
Skam is a great show, started in Norway with 4 seasons but has been remade by the French, Italians, Dutch, Spanish, German and I’m sure they’ve done more. Some counties have added extra seasons with new story lines like Skam France season 6.
Personally I believe the French, Belgium and Norwegian seasons are the best. Skam does a character study on a different teen each season and displays real issues that teens go through-
-Season 1 relationships, friendship being cheated on
-Season 2 feminism, relationship with being a feminist, body positivity, sexual assault, etc
-Season 3 figuring out sexuality, internalised homophobia and mental health (MLM)
-Season 4 racism, religion (Islam) relationships
Skam France have added seasons on disability (season 5), WLW (season 6) and teen pregnancy (season 7) as well. All shows and seasons but Norway’s can be found on RUclips and all the characters have instagrams which is super cool as well!!

This story is the best example of a healthy and honest relationship that Netflix has ever made. Especially Simon, it's incredible his level of self-acceptance, commitment to his family, friends, studies, his beloved Wilhelm, and especially, his commitment to stay focused on directing his life to a better future, despite the mistakes he has made...

I dare to say that every love story, every romance that I see after Young Royals always seems like two actors are acting and just performing but in Young Royals their chemistry is so Surreal it doesn't feel like they are acting!!!!!! I love how the show focuses on the love story itself and not particulary on that it is a gay lovestory. The chemistry between the actors is immaculat and the entire cast is so talented. I really really hope we get a second season

I loved it. The chemistry between Wilhelm and Simon felt so real and i lived every moment with them. Both high and lows. I found that the show taught me more about life in Sweden like the St. Lucia festival which I hadn't previously known about. Another thing I loved about the show was that the actors were real. In a lot of teen dramas, the actors can be twice their characters age and have flawless skin. This show had actors who had acne and the show didn't shy away from the realities of being a teenager. It was so beautifully woven together and I loved it so much! I was broken at the final scene and need a season 2! 10/10, it is absolutely AMAZING!!

I need a well written season two where the characters STAY THE SAME and slowly evolve in a normal, healthy way! I don't want to see any rushed actions, just for the fun of it. The audience feels deeply connected to the two protagonists and if that stays, this will be a very successful series
I believe in Lisa Ambjörn (the creator) and the creative writing team. They did absolutely an amazing job for season 1. I strongly think that they will do the same in upcoming season(s). Lisa told that she has a clear storyline in her mind, so she knows where will the story lead. She also told that she will not do unnecessary seasons. It means that we will watch some few quality seasons instead of mediocre many seasons. I am sooooo up for it. I believe she has 3 seasons in mind, but we will see. This show is really really good.

what i love the most about this series is when they were exposed to the public because of that damn leaked videos, Wilhelm never left Simon behind.Despite being a Crown Prince he fight together with Simon to faced the public. Even though there are not together at the end of the episode, I still feel the warmth of Wilhelm and SImon together in a locker room after the leaked incident. Pray for Season 2.

And yes you're so right, Prince Wilhelm didn't desert the commoner Simon after the video leaking - he could have well done that - but they fought together instead. This showed the qualities of his heart.
Unfortunately, Wilhelm then did the opposite of what he had told Simon, affirming that it wasn't him in the video. He decided to treat Simon like somebody who he would love, but only away from others' eyes. As if Simon were a vice, an infection, a sore.
So sensitive and beautiful. Perfect!

I feel like COMMUNICATION is really important in relationships, otherwise it won't work. I think YR has done amazing when it comes to showing COMMUNICATION between the characters. Other shows that i've watched have lacked that. For example: When Simon and Wilhelm talk/fight, they COMMUNICATE by telling eachother how they feel. Not many shows do that!!! I think this is one of the best shows Netflix has ever made. They finally did something right with this show by showing that not everybody is comfortable with their sexuality and that they'll come out when they're ready. They also showed that Simon didn't pressure Wille come out and knew that he would tell the world when he's ready. Instead of being his secret, he decided to step back and let him figure it out by himself, which was the right thing to do. This show is also fast paced which is really good!!! Normally you have to wait until the last episode of the 1 season for a first kiss but their first kiss happened in episode 2, which is very unusual for some shows. Plus, Omar and Edvin's chemistry is through the roof, which is also what makes the show worth watching. I can't wait for season 2.

I've never seen a romance play out on the screen this genuine or heartfelt in my life. I love this show. I need more, and not just 2 more seasons. I want The Crown level stuff, I want to see their lives through the decades. I want to see Will and Simon have to deal with their feelings for each other with the pressures of society and a crown.
If Netflix isn't going to make second season happen I'm going to make a kickstarter and film it on my own. I need it in my life.
This show stole my heart. It's so moving, gentle and intimate. I'll watch it a hundred times and those hundred times I'll get the chills. I need more! So, i hope with my soul it gets renewed because it's honestly everything that is okay right now.

The football soccer scene is the truest form of love that happened between Wilhelm and Simon. The fact that Wilhelm memorized Simon number after getting high and deleting it shows how much he loves him. Simon showed up and toke care of Wilhelm no matter what.
