I've truly never seen a show quite like this. The actors, writers, directors, costume designers, even the intimacy coordinator... They all did such a wonderful job! And don't even get me started on the representation. It's so so good, really hope it gets a season 2!

Exactly! It has such a beautiful flow to it, they don’t rub their sexualities to our faces and of course, Wilhelm and Simon’s chemistry is out of the world! The sexual tension in every scene is palpable. I hope there’s a season 2. There should be!

While Omar Rudberg is outstanding in his debut role as Simon, Edvin Ryding’s Wilhelm is an Emmy-worthy performance. Ryding is charismatic and riveting in his portrayal of the young crown prince. He emotes brilliantly through nuanced non-verbal communication … a glance, a look, a smile, a furrowed brow … a simple gesture, a touch, an expression, body language … all portrayed with a natural subtlety. The audience knows exactly Wilhelm’s thoughts, feelings, frustration, confusion, angst, anxiety … all without the utterance of a word. A brilliant performance.
I agree. But how do we get the American Emmy audience to see this show? It is not yet trending in the US! 😩
I will go ahead and give my standing ovation for OMAR’s Oscar worthy performance. His awareness of the ways class, privilege, and race intersect with identity feels incredibly forward-looking. He understood his supporting role drawing the audience to his realistic human emotions displayed episode through episode. His portrayal of Simon was exceptionally naturalistic and gripping, that it made this Swedish import transcend the cliché it could have been and becomes something more unusual: a teen drama that actually feels like it could be telling a true story. His acting in the series was phenomenal! Well done
You could understand the scene completely even without dialogues, by looking at edvyn's face

This is the most accurate and realistic show if ever seen and honestly since the moment I’ve watched this it has surpassed all the other series and movies I’ve ever seen. It would be a pity not to renew something as unique, promising and special as this ! It’s truly a revolution ; representation on different races, ethnicities, sexuality’s and what not. The characters personality is not any of these, they have an actual depth in them and are written so damn god well !Thank you for this amazing show ! This is a huge step forward and an amazing example going forward for other shows.

Yes!!! Skam is so good. I like them both….. equally. but I’m obsessed with young royals rn
I loved that the actors looked like normal teenagers. So many shows have these perfect-skinned, perfectly coiffed, perfectly fit actors that you can’t relate. I think that’s why YR is resonating with so many people. The characters are normal, even within their more elite economic status. Wilhelm has anxiety, and perhaps a bit of a depressive disorder too. August very clearly has body dysmorphia and a perfection complex. Felice is trying to be the daughter her mother wants rather than being the person she actually is. My niece is mixed like Felice. I suspect Felice’s hair would look better in its natural curl than it does with Felice’s attempts at straightening it. Sarah wants to be “normal”. Madison is that friend who just doesn’t care what people think. We all need one of those. Simon is a problem solver, even though it does cause him problems as he solves other people’s problems. Alexander allows himself to be taken advantage of in so many ways because he wants the connections of old money, though he is clearly new money. We all knew/know people like this in school. Maybe we were one of those people. Add in the enchanting love story between Wilhelm and Simon and we were all hooked. I rarely watch a movie/series in anything other than its native language. It just drives me nuts to listen to dubbing, but the YR story is sooooo good I watched with the English audio. It definitely helped that it was the actual actors’ voices, but I could still tell the difference at times. Yet, it didn’t drive me insane. I didn’t feel like anything was lost by listening to it dubbed in English, which is my feeling with most dubs of any language. Wilhelm and Simon’s story is just too good. We definitely need a season 2 because I want to know what that look from Wilhelm on the word “revolution” is going to mean.

@@adeleennis2255 totally agree with everything you said and I could go days and days talking about this ; the show provides amazing representation ! I personally watched the show in Swedish with English subtitles in an attempt to keep it as close to the original as possible, but of course the fact the actors dubbed it themselves is wow.
Not doing a second season would be crime against humanity! This show is so important for many viewers. It adresses issues like classes, anxiety or representation, in the right way.

I do think that the demographic doesn’t do well with foreign shows and films because they’re more subtle than what’s on the American screen. And I’m from the US. I’m not proud of Americans’ lack of good taste.

My 78 year old mom, me, hubby, teens (17 and 15) all absolutely adored this show. It is not just a teen show, it’s a show for every age group.
Such amazing scenes, real representation, a beautiful language. Love Young Royals so much and I have tremendous respect for the screen writers, directors and the intimacy coordinator 🙌❤️👑
I'm a 65 year old mom and grandma and I totally agree with you. I loved the show so much, the acting is brillant , it is actually a show for every group of age. Regards from France

The show has been TOP 10 here in Norway ever since July 1., and I think one of the reasons being that a broader audience is watching it here. I don’t know if I’m right, but the press here has been very positive to it. We had SKAM, also a show that « everybody » watched at the time. We have two kids with adhd and one with Asperger, so for my husband the representation of that was important.

Edvin is incredible
The way he can show us emotions is beyond amazing. It's very subtle but he does it effortlessly.
When he is taking to Erik for the last time you can see the simple gestures he does with his face or hands that show how embarrassed and uncomfortable he gets when Erik figures out he has a crush.
When he is on royal functions or special gatherings he is upright with an air of nobility about him, which is what you'd expect from a royal.
He shifts between how he needs to behave as a royal and who he is naturally within the show with such ease its astounding to me. Truly an incredible actor.
I swear if they don't give me another season, I'll cry for the rest of my life💔

This is one of the best series that Netflix has ever aired this series needs a second season
The beginning scene of episode 5 is beautifully shot - with Wilhelm and Simon waking up under the orange sunlight. The way Wilhelm looked at Simon during his sleep - there is so much emotion and desire. They started to kiss with the morning breath - that is true passion and a realistic portrayal of people who are in love so intensely.
I also really love how they were sneaking behind the bodyguards and kissing in the woods. Adorable 🥰

Edvin and Omar's chemistry is awesome. I'm just drawn towards Omar's character and personality. His portrayal of Simon is so emotional and real. Heartwarming throughout yet aches the heart to watch such end.

Being adorable is an understatement. It is the chemistry among these two boys, that made it all so delightfully performed. They both deserve to be recognized. My hat goes off to NETFLIX for giving us this authentic Gem.

The fact that every time Wilhelm and Simon are together is when they are at their happiest and its a beautiful sight to see.Both Edwin and Omar bring such nuance to their performance,they make their characters love for each other believable which makes you want them to be together.❤❤

What a remarkable show! The writing, the direction, the casting of relatable young people, the acting, the costumes, the sets, the lighting - honestly, YR hits all the marks. Its subtle yet effective treatment of so many of today’s social issues - mental health, learning issues, sexuality (LGBTQ, straight, & elsewhere on the spectrum), friendships, love, siblings, parents, school, class, and more - make it perfect for the target demographic.
As an older woman and an educator, I really enjoyed its honest portrayal of life as a teenager and I can’t wait for season 2. Your demographic is certainly ready for it. I look forward to the announcement that season 2 is in the works.

The way Wilhelm looked at Omar with a serious yet with such passion in eyes was so beautiful, this is a show that depicted queer/same sex love as equally beautiful to love and passion between straight people.

what makes this show so special are the different acting characters and their perfect casting. the actors aren’t only playing youngsters, the are still young. So though it’s just fiction it’s all played in a very natural way. The viewer can even feel the special chemistry between Will and Simon. Regardless the actors own private sexually orientation you can see that both Edwin and Omar likes each other and having fun to act together. No matter if straight or gay the romance between Will and Simon is showed in an emotionally very gently way so that everyone of us can find himself again in his own experiences (even this may happen decades of years ago). I hope there will be more than just one season.
This show is so natural and fantastic, with very talented people, it will break your heart and it will be worth it, WE DEFINITELY NEED SEASON 2 plsss!!!!!
