Thank you for helping people. when I was younger my mom's depression made are home look like this. I was to young to help and I had no one to help me. Things to do videos like yours I learned how to clean and my house may not be the cleanest but it's livable now. Unfortunately my mom is abusive, so I ended up in a homeless shelter for 6 months but I had to return and I had to start all over again on the cleaning. your videos helped to give me the motivation to do so. I'll be getting out of here in a few months but until then I will live in a semi clean space.

You did an amazing job cleaning. Even when there are dirty spots left on the floors. But i hope the home owner will continue to clean the rest and keep it clean and tidy. I have a suggestion, why you don't use a plastic broom to scrap the floors instead of a mop. Trust me it will help you a lot. You have to buy one.

My son died at the end of 2019 and I’m currently going through this. I haven’t had anyone over since then. My house is a mess because of the depression. Nobody seem to truly understand the struggle I go through minute by minute, hour to hour. I finally starting to clean little by little one room at time. It can be daunting at times. So much so that I have set backs. I keep trying. I hope to see my home back to normal eventually. I’ve also gotten the “Oh, I thought you were just lazy” comment. The effects of depression can appear in many different ways each individual. I glad to see that information coming to forefront. Thank you for you compassion and being free of judgements.

Everytime you do the only "little" thing you can do now, like just organizing some clothes, is a HUGE progress and know that here, far far away, there's people very proud of you. this too shall pass. we don't have to forget the ones we lost or the things that wounded us, but we can (TRUST ME) go out of this eventually. baby steps are huge ones for people that struggle everyday. If you aren’t able to take care of your living space, giving the cat to a family member is the best thing you can do for it, until you can take it back. Cats naturally get into things and eat stuff that they shouldn’t. That’s why to own a cat, you should have a clean environment for them to live to ensure they don’t get into anything and eat anything that could hurt them. You come first but your animal is also as really important! Remember, animals have feelings too and cats like to be clean! I’m so glad you have gotten better and I hope you improve and grow! You then run out of all clean clothes. So what do you do when you have no more clean clothes or underwear and you can’t wash it or take it to a laundromat? You order new clothes, have them delivered to your doorstep and put them on straight away. And this is just one example. Can be 100 different reasons. Depression isn’t black and white. Definitely monetized. I also watch landscapers who clean up overgrown yards (gardens) and charge nothing to the homeowner because they’ll get 2 million views on yt and that more than pays for the job. Good for all. Generally speaking, the recipients could not pay for the work & the worker has earned the compensation. The landscapers are not shy about the monetization.

Sometimes I do one or two things, then feel like I just did massive amounts of work. The only reason my home hasn’t gotten this bad is because I do have support, my mom would whoop my butt and take my kids...and my hubby lives here too and wouldn’t let it get this bad.

But I found that if you don't let it get too out of hand, you can keep the place relatively tidy even if isn't spotless. It's taken me weeks to even get the energy to dust our place. I’m crying so much hearing this story. My mother was so well put together, no one would know she was going through something like this as well. I am still working hard to get her home in good shape 3 years after her passing. Sometimes it’s even hard for me to let go of her clutter without her permission. Have you read Marie Kondo's first book? A lot of people think it's about just keeping what sparks joy and throwing everything away, but I find it to be so much more than that. For example she says every item has a purpose in someone's life. She then tells you to ask yourself whether something sparks joy and if not, that said purpose has been served so that you can let go if it more easily. In this case: your mother's items have served their purpose when your mother bought them, either because they sparked joy the moment she bought them or they sparked joy the time she got to enjoy them. I find it difficult to explain things in English, but I hope you get what I'm trying to say and that it maybe helps you discarding her clutter - knowing that they have served their purpose.❤️ I wish you all the best getting her home in a good shape and giving her loss a place in your heart❤️

It is so underrated to let water and dish-soap do the work for you. I keep preaching to my kids "work smart, not hard" so they understand what a difference a little prep work does for most projects.
When you're tidying up I recommend you have one table/place where you put all the things that need to be put away instead of putting all the things away individually as you find them. It is much easier to gather up form the table all the things that should go back to the bathroom or kitchen instead of having to make 15 different trips with single items.

My parents divorced when i was 19. Daddy was the one who cooked and did a deep cleaning every Sunday. He also cleaned all week.. never dirty dishes or trash. I moved out at 18, not realizing how deeply depressed he was becoming. He always put on a " happy face." I showed up at the home i grew up in & was mind blown by the hoarding & the mess was unbelievable. So I just started cleaning. It took a few days ( i had to work & still attend to my home and animals). i started in the kitchen; then bathroom, so on & so forth. Threw out everything molded.. but replaced it all. Fast forward a year & it was 10 times worse. I was actually very upset. But never said a word & cleaned again. He wouldn't let me go over.. I knew why. Then dad's home caught on fire. Thank goodness for insurance. He rebuilt. He has his home; a whole new layout, all new items & I'm going to sound like a horrible daughter. I'm glad it happened in a way. It was so far gone from filth. Im beyond grateful he made it out with his dog. He finally, for the first time in 20 years, looked forward to something..i helped decorate his home & he's so proud of his clean home. He isn't in the best of health. So I've always worried he would get sick & no one could get to him. On march 22nd, 2021, his home burned down. On March 21st 2022, my daddy was declared gone for 19 minutes. This man came back. His outblook on life is spectacular now. It all started from depression, and men didn't get help. Not like they should. He doesn't do strenuous stuff. My husband and i do all that. Please be kind... you never know. This could be you or a loved one. Sorry for the long post. Auri just reminds me never to give up on those struggling. Much love to all! Tami

I grew up in a hoarding house, I have struggled with it myself but now my house is just messy. This video made me cry so much. I am so used to hearing such hateful, cruel words about people who suffer from this. I wish people knew that there's absolutely nothing you could ever say that could make someone feel worse than they already do when living like this. Imagine feeling so worthless that you don't even feel like you deserve to waste the oxygen that you breathe. Life just passes you by. The amount of compassion and empathy that you have is so beautiful. Thank you so much for what you do, I am so grateful that there are people like you in the world. And for anyone who is suffering with this issue and reading this: you aren't lazy, you aren't alone, you deserve to be alive, and you deserve to live in a beautifully clean and safe home. Keep trying, even if all you can manage is one small thing per day, do not give up. The people who say mean things are just showing you what it feels like to be them, hopefully they will find compassion and peace in their lives too.

I hope you will seek help for your depression. Everything you mentioned in your comment is correct. I get so depressed at times; I wonder why I keep living. But I find something, anything to motivate myself & combat the depression. I also got help from my doctor. I will probably seek a therapist if I continue to have debilitating days of depression. Right now, I'm doing really good. But it can change so quickly, as you probably know.
I hope you will talk to your doctor about how you feel & get some help. You are worth the air you are breathing & you are worthy of getting help from an outside source, like your doctor or therapy. Good luck to you

im also messy because of arthritis making it unbearable to move from time to time and severe depression. i only say this to say i sympathize with you and what you have been through.
I am currently working on the one or two things a day if I have lots of energy. it's helping some if that helps you to know. I also found that if I tell myself that just that is Enough and to stop and make myself stop i have a bit more emotional energy for the next day.
anyway I agree with you everyone deserves compassion for mental illness. also good luck with your cleaning goals. you deserve a happy life too. I hope you have good influences in your life now and all the help you need to stay on track to a happy life.
