From your description I think you will love the full album. A vast creative combination of different instruments and melodies, magnificently composed and always with a unmistakable Earthside print. The drumming on this album is outstanding.

That's the great thing about instrumental tracks -- they're completely open to the listener's interpretation. I like what you came up with, shows me the track in a new light.
For me, the track tells a different story: that feeling of following a path with conviction only to realize much later that it was the wrong path. So not catastrophic on a grand scale, but in a more personally devastating way. Musically, to me the track starts with a hopeful excitement, but the mood gradually gets tenser and darker, with little hints of doubt starting to creep in more and more, slowly edging out the positive. And when the bright glockenspiel of the opening returns, to me that signifies the moment of false hope where you think you can shake off the doubt. But the doubt never fully leaves, until ultimately the it just turns into full-on dread when those strings enter after the bass fill, the moment they finally understand they were wrong and can't hide from that anymore. That feeling always makes me tear up at that string part, too. So good.
Anyway, glad you enjoyed it! Highly recommend checking the whole album out, plenty of tastiness to go around, even without Sandbox Percussion.

Ooooo, I like your interpretation! The false hope overlaid on doubt is a perfect read on that mid point.

As for my perception of the song ... I find it very meditative.
It gives me the feeling of being alone with myself and reflecting on (my) life. There is the constant flow of beauty, which somehow represents the value of positive energy and gratitude.
The heavier part represents doubt and perhaps some despair. Have I lost my way? So the initial certainty dissolves.
The end is like a rewind, like going backwards, regaining strength through the appreciation of beauty, but still not quite letting go of the "bitterness and doubt".
The very last notes are like a new light that appears. Like "don't give up, what if I can do it right".
