The woman who was acting crazy in the immigration office was not Nina. It was Yvonne Krause, the German character, who turned out not to be who she claimed to be because the real Yvonne Krause was murdered in Mexico by the Communists so this other woman could assume her identity.
By the way, the actress playing "Yvonne" was Betty Lou Gerson, who is best remembered as the voice of the wicked Cruella De Vil in the Walt Disney film "101 Dalmatians" (1961).

      @@antoniod "Anti-Communism was not pro-Fascism!"
Oh, really? Tell that to Hitler and Mussolini, both Fascists -- and both Anti-Communists!
Tell that to the South American right-wing dictators and death squads, who raped, tortured, and murdered innocent people, including women and children, including members of the clergy, even including United States citizens -- all in the name of Anti-Communism!
Tell that to the CIA, which supported many of these tyrants and death squads, and in some cases, put them into power, and taught their armies and their secret police forces how to oppress their enemies, how to terrorize, torture, and murder them -- again, in the name of Anti-Communism!
Tell that to these racist organizations like the Ku Klux Klan, the Aryan Nations, the Aryan Brotherhood, etc, who persecute, terrorize, and murder people whose race, skin color, religion, nationality, language, sexual orientation, etc, is different from what they are -- because they equate race mixing and racial equality with Communism! (significantly enough, many people have called the KKK "America's Nazis"; in fact, back in the late 1930s through the early '40s, there was a brief alliance between the Klan and the pro-Nazi German-American Bund; and let's not forget that many of the bigots of this land thought the Civil Rights movement was Communist-inspired, and that Martin Luther King was a Communist)
Tell that to the professional hatemongers and red-baiters who labeled innocent people as Communists just because their political beliefs were different and/or unpopular, thereby ruining their lives, and setting their friends and neighbors against them! Is that any different from what happened in the Fascist countries like Mussolini's Italy, or Hitler's Germany, or some of those South American countries? And don't forget what happened in 1949 in Peekskill, N.Y., when a mob of so-called "patriots" attacked black singer Paul Robeson and other folk singers during a concert there, supposedly because of his sympathies towards the Soviet Union, whose leaders had treated Robeson much better than his "fellow Americans" had, in spite of the color of his skin. The truth is that the Peekskill riot was not so much about Communism or Anti-Communism, as it was about RACISM! This, after all, was a black man who dared to suggest that the Soviets were much kinder to people of color than the allegedly "free" United States, and who was performing with mainly black and Jewish singers. Not surprisingly, the people who assaulted Robeson and company included members of the KKK, and even some Neo-Nazis, who shouted racial slurs like "Nigger," "Kike," "Nigger lover," etc.
And what about how the CIA and the FBI used to spy on people, including those who were never accused, or even suspected of having committed a crime, just because they THOUGHT they were "Reds" or "subversives" (including a particularly vicious campaign to harass and discredit Dr. Martin Luther King)? Was that any different from the way that Hitler's Gestapo (Secret Police) used to persecute the enemies of the Third Reich, again because they THOUGHT they were Communists (especially if some of the suspects happened to be Jewish)?
Then, there was the way that our own government, in the days after the end of the Second World War, helped thousands of former Nazi officials, including some accused of War Crimes, to escape from justice -- because they needed their help in fighting the Soviets, even though Russia was one of our most important allies during the war! ("Operation Paperclip" it was called) A lot of these Nazis went to work for our government, which is probably why the government has been acting more and more like a Fascist police state, spying on us all, invading our privacy at every turn, especially through agencies like the National Security Administration (NSA), the CIA, Homeland Security, etc. Some other ex-Nazis helped to form some of the right-wing death squads of Central and South America, in some cases, with the assistance of the CIA! Once again, this was all in the name of Anti-Communism!
      Anti-Communism ISN'T pro-Fascism? Well, sometimes IT IS!

@@winstonsmith3433 I know that millions of people were killed, or at least oppressed, by the Communists. I was just pointing out that being anti-Communist doesn't necessarily make someone pro-freedom. As I pointed out in my previous post, it sometimes means being pro-Nazi, pro-Fascist, pro-racism, pro-segregation, pro-KKK, anti-Semitic, anti-black, anti-gay, anti-political dissent (i.e. McCarthyism, HUAC, etc,) anti-world peace, sometimes even anti-Universal Healthcare (i.e. the Tea Party people, who equate Healthcare with Socialism).

"In 250 years of existence as a nation, the US has fought against 29 sovereign countries. (In Fact, since 1785, we have been involved, for 231 years, in some kind of war. @@jamesoneil1388 Even assuming that what you are saying is true, there is no proof of any correlation between former President Obama allegedly advocating that calendar months be increased to 34 days and the number 34 being Karl Marx's "lucky number." It could be a coincidence, you know.
And where did you hear this story about Obama being "on a private island training a force of 250,000 to invade the United States so he can establish a communist dictatorship"? You don't give any source for this fantastic tale. Why would a former President of the United States of America do something like that? Unless you're just making the whole thing up because you don't like black people.
It wouldn't be the first time that some right-wing maniac invented a phony "Red plot" to further a personal agenda. The CIA was great at that very thing. They dreamed up so-called "Communist threats" in countries like Iran in 1953, in Guatemala in 1954, in Chile in 1973, etc, and used them as an excuse to overthrow the governments of those countries and replace them with military dictatorships. The only trouble was there were no "Red conspiracies" in any of those places, and that the real reason for getting rid of their legally elected governments was to protect U.S.-owned corporate interests.
In Southeast Asia in the 1950s-60s, the CIA also had a habit of commiting terrorist acts and blaming them on the Communists, so they could use them as justifications for getting America further and more deeply involved in the fighting in that remote part of the world, which inevitably led us into the farce of the Vietnam War, and we all know what a blunder that was.
The agency probably learned these "dirty tricks" from the former Nazis that they smuggled out of Germany through the so-called "Operation Paperclip." After all, the Nazis first came into full power in Germany after the burning of the Reichstag (Parliament) building in Berlin in 1933. Adolf Hitler charged that the fire had been caused by the Communists, and immediately declared a state of emergency, assuming dictatorial powers, suspending all civil liberties (especially of the Jews), banning all political parties except the Nazi Party, and effectively turning "the Fatherland" into the totalitarian regime it became, which led to Hitler's attempt at world conquest, the Second World War, and of course, the Holocaust.
Ironically, some historians say that the Nazis themselves started the Reichstag fire (probably under Hitler's orders), so they could make it look like the country was in danger of a "Red revolution," which would have led the people to willingly accept Hitler as their absolute ruler, believing him (AND ONLY HIM) to be their friend and protector.
If they can invent Communist threats that never existed, couldn't somebody also invent a "Commie" plot supposedly involving an ex-president like Obama?

There's a fascinating review on IMDb of this movie by the great-nephew of its director. It reads: 'My uncle told me this was the WORST film he ever directed. He was a contract director and the studio wanted him to make a movie about Communism. "This McCarthy thing seems to be catching on," he said they told him, "and we need a film quick." They gave him six weeks and $100,000 budget - an unheard-of pittance for a feature film, even in 1949. He didn't have a cast, a crew, a script, or even a story line. So he called friends who had very little screen time, knowing no ‘Name’ actor would commit to a project like this. Besides, most of Uncle Gordon's actor friends were Western stars, like Roy Rogers.
Gordon got a writer from the studio to pen the script, but he quit half-way through filming. So he and another actor had to complete the script, adding to it as they went. At the start of each day's filming, they had no idea what they were going to do.
But, as promised, Uncle Gordon got this movie made on time and on budget.
It saddened him a little, knowing that with all his directing credits, he would probably be most remembered for the worst film he ever made. He was proud of the rest of his filmography, and enjoyed directing well into his 70's.
As for me, well, I think its kinda cool that my Great Uncle had a lot to do with the making of a cult classic. Its no Rocky Horror, Reefer Madness, or even Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, but in the genre of ridiculously bad films, Red Menace can hold its celluloid head high.
Just remember, Bud Springsteen had to work under extreme conditions to churn out a film this bad.’

Only a handful of companies wrote most of its software, driven by profit, and managed most of its traffic. But not even in its conception as a system of decentralized networks does it fit with the definition of communism. You need capital to even access it because you need a server to set up a website and a modem to dial-up and stop by. The second it started, some hosts and connections were better than others, which in part explains why we have the internet we have today. The original intent behind why it was created had nothing to do with anything resembling communism and more to do difficulties of finding information stored on different computers. The reason communism hasn't been done is because it is completely impossible to make a collective decision about the workings of anything without some proper delegation of power or majority rule, once you are in a group setting. I encourage you to look up the definitions of social choice problems and collective action problems. It might give you some insights into why it always ends up being state-ran, and why it could never be anything other than state-ran, single-party or worker-union ran. Great movie. It is amazing how much of this was going on in the USA. We, in the USA, hadn't a clue. We were told, by a handful of people, that the USSR's subversive work in the USA was extensive. But, main stream media covered it up. And any politician that discussed the issue was labeled a McCarthyist. After the released documents from the former USSR, that is when I seen just how bad it was …. and found out that McCarthy Was Right!

    • @michaelpalmieri7335
      @michaelpalmieri7335 5 лет назад +5

Exactly why would the "main stream media" cover up a story like that? The fact is that during the height of the Cold War, the newspapers were full of stories about spy scandals (Alger Hiss, the Rosenbergs, etc.) and Soviet espionage and subversion in the United States and other countries. Some of these stories may or may not have been exaggerated, but they seemed to confirm the fears and suspicions that many people felt at the time about "the Red Menace."
As for your contention that Senator Joseph McCarthy was "right," I somehow doubt that.

Marx did for all the social sciences what Darwin did for biology. Albert Einstein was an open communist collaborator and sympathized with the Soviet Union. He never capitulated to the pressure he was under to bad-mouth the Soviet Union. Perhaps he appreciated the Red Army of the Soviet Union for driving Hitler to suicide. Read his 1948 essay "WHY SOCIALISM?" in the late 1930's Einstein met with his friend and colleague, discoverer of Radium, French Communist Party Member Marie Curie in his office at Princeton. Topic of the meeting: building support for the Communist-led war in Spain against Hitler's protege General Franco. Let's tip our hats to the CP USA. We sent 3,000 comrades to Spain to fight fascism, half of them died there. Happy ending. The Communist and Socialist Parties of Spain are now the elected government of Spain.

It would take the demise of Sen. McCarthy before less ridiculously stereotyped movies appeared, such as the excellent Storm Center (1956) Nevertheless, it is important to see these early Red Scare movies as a testimony how spasmodic democracy and especially (ultra) capitamism reacted in those days against whoever asked serious questions about exploitation, and in stead only emphasizes all the shortcomings of communism. The same unhealthy approach could be found in the asphyxiating My Son John (again with priests waving with the cross) or the British movie Sabotage, in which norty and ultra stereotype pipesmoking communists with a weak spot for unmelodic avant)garde music want to blow up Battersea power station. Today, a US president who can't admit he lost the elections thinks that the current leader in Moscow is a "smart" guy, and so is the party boss of North Corea... I wonder what "Joe" McCarthy would have thought about that....

The threat of communist infiltration in our government, particularly in our atomic weapons development facilities, was very real in the 40s and 50s. The Soviets stole our nuclear weapons data which allowed them to develop their own weapons far faster and at much less cost than if they hadn’t stolen the data. But ridiculous films like this one and several others of that era make it seem like these people were everywhere. In reality, they never had much luck in fielding political candidates, nobody in large numbers wanted what they were selling, which makes the hysteria over the “reds under every bed” so humorous. The effects of the red scare, however, aren’t funny in the least. They were witch hunts that destroyed many people’s lives in Hollywood on the flimsiest of evidence and innuendo. And, of course, there was a desire to paint democrats as “pink” by the GOP who had been reduced to minority status for 20 years, and they’d do (and did) anything to change that, including painting their loyal opposition as traitors to America.

I think it's reasonable to be against communism, so long as you understand what communism is. Obama was not a communist and neither are liberals. Communism is an authoritarian leftist ideology, while liberalism is a liberal leftist ideology which usually isn't nearly as left wing as communism.

Liberals tend to be for welfare programs, universal education, universal healthcare, etc. which are technically left wing ideas. It's true that they don't believe in every left wing idea, but they are certainly on the left wing spectrum at least in the context of America and Canada. I understand that communism is more complicated and diverse than I made it seem, I just didn't want to write an essay in the comment section. The main point of my comment was to disagree with the other people who are saying that liberals and Obama (who isn't very liberal) are communists.

    • @sobitasadullah4517
      @sobitasadullah4517 7 лет назад +4

Yes but leftism derives from the workers in the left side of the Estates general. Liberalism comes from the rich pissing their pants when real leftists who want worker control came to revolutionize. Centrist doctrine wants the bourgeoisie in power, in distinct opposition with the leftist belief in at least financial equity. You see it now, in fact with 50% of the world's wealth in control of the 1%.

It seems we disagree about the point of liberalism, but regardless that wasn't the main point of my original comment. Whether or not you agree with my opinions on communism, the main point of my comment was that Obama, other Democrats, and liberals are not communists. If I made my original comment as simple as possible, it was so the right wingers in the comments might be able to get their heads at least half way out their asses, not to start an argument over the origins of political labels.

Lewis Carroll put Humpty in his Alice in Wonderland tale and this a quote from the big egg:
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean-neither more nor less."
One can see another connection with Trumpty in this very special quote. I am willing to say that I believe Trumpty Dumpty will live up to another line in the rhyme:
".... and Humpty had a great fall." I don't think Putin will be able to put him back together again. :(

From going against the Sultan of Morocco, to invading the tiny island of Grenada, 1983. Well, this means that in our entire history, we have only had 17 years of peace, and even fewer, cuz here the almost 5 years of our Civil War (Union/Confed 1861‒1865), are Not counted, since this war was not with another country, but against us. Who authorizes us to violate all International Laws and enter any country to ABUSE them? What's so "Proud" about being a nation of Looters and Criminals? .
