The fifth film made many, MANY mistakes, but Salazar's theme was not one of them. It certainly fit his character well, combining a merciless, regal theme with ghostly undertones provided by rattling chains and bass choir. It's actually one of my top five favorite villain themes, and I for one am very glad that of the few trends carried on by all five films, the excellent soundtrack was one of them.
I think my favourite part about your Suite videos is how mercilessly brilliant the transitions between two songs can be! I would absolutely love to hear a Barbossa suite if you're ever up for that!
Salazar had so much potential as a villain, he could have been almost as good as Davy Jones. I don't know why people dislike Dead Men Tell No Tales so much...
@@marshallbernarte8216 exactly salazar could have been such an awesome villain and he is but the movie ruins it all it barely even feels like pirates of the caribbean anymore
Best themes in my opinion: 1. Davy Jones. 2. The Kraken. 3. Salazar. 4. Jack Sparrow. 5. Hector Barbossa. 6. Black Beard. 7. Beckett. 8. Will & Elizabeth. 9. Spaniard. 10. Calypso.
If they fleshed out his character and introduced him in a properly written movie, maybe he could have been a recurring villain that chases Jack every now and then like the force of nature he was meant to be or has become... Either way, lost potential for sure.
I don't get the hate about Potc5. I loved it when I watched it for the first time back in 2017 in a movie theater(which was also the last time i went to a movie theater to this day) and i still love it to this day(they removed too much stuff from the previous movies in Potc4 hence why I hate that movie and prefer Potc5).
The fourth and fifth movie where not as good as the first three, they lost feels, but did give off heavy sequel vibes, they made a fine continuation for years later. Maybe if will and bill were in them it would be funner. profoundly dissapointed they did not make a sixth movie after the post credit scene.
POTC5 retconned a lot of things and changed a wrote a pretty horrible story... But, I agree. A sixth installment would have been welcomed. POTC5 could have been a great flick if they fleshed out Salazar and actually wrote gold instead of bronze.
@@Aron34698, I agree! Not to mention that both ships are cursed, the Dutchman was cursed because of a deviation from the pact with the sea witch, and as for the Silent Mary, was cursed because of a certain young “Sparrow” Literally tricked them into following him, and thus being sent to the Devil’s Triangle, forever doomed to be trapped there forever. Well at least it would have, has he not given up the compass, Which in turn released them onto the world of the living!
@@Aron34698 I mean I suppose Jones could just wait until the day he could step on land and then, if he made sure the fight happened near land he could just pick salazars up and run to land still holding him, and then just drop him onto sand and laugh menacingly
Man, they did Javier Bardem dirty. Salazar was a great villian concept and Bardem acted the sh*t out of the role. He nailed it. Just sad he was a one-off in a otherwise pretty shitty movie.
@@harmonphoebe7708 I could provide counter-arguments but I will instead explain myself; Salazar was poorly written and designed. As a character concept, I like him and they cast a good actor for the role. The design almost works, with the main exception being that most of the time his face is obscured and we rarely see the nuances of his expressions - something which I am sure we would have gotten from the actor. An intense, aggressive pirate-hunter would have been amazing to see if written properly. That is, if he didn't spend most of his lines muttering "Jack Sparrow". If it was a more fleshed-out obsession I would be a lot happier but tbh, I feel like this was the fault of the writers and an underwhelming script overall; to reiterate I like the character on paper but not in execution. The theme is awesome and the only thing I could have wanted more from it is to have taken a motif from the Spanish themes from Stranger Tides. But that is a nitpick on a great track.
His character on paper, choice of actor and the theme are perfectly matched but the movie's writing and direction don't do much justice to these aspects and it's just a let down to me but that's all personal opinion. If you enjoy Salazar as he is in the movie, and he works for you personally, then I am happy for you. That is a completely valid opinion and I am simply responding to flack.

Ur mom made many mistakes
Such a shame that Salazar's theme outqualifies the actual villain.
@@sunandshadow6593 No it didn't, lol

The only mistake they made is killing off Salazar. He really deserves a second film.
I love the clean uniform he wears in the flashback I don't know if it's at all accurate to Spanish pirate hunters but I love it
It's not.
Nah, the Aramda Real wore blue uniforms with red facings
