Does Adding More RAM In Minecraft Increase FPS? (4GB/8GB Test)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 19 май 2019
- Today I am back on Minecraft to see if adding RAM increases FPS! I do a 4GB & 8GB RAM Test to see if there are noticeable performance gains!
(RAM will increase FPS but only marginally, it'll mostly help when using Mods, Shaders and Resource Packs)
MY SPECS:
* i5 8400 (6 Core Coffee Lake CPU)
* 16GB DDR4 RAM @2400Mhz
* GTX 1060 3GB (ASUS)

Note: if you have more than 4 GB of ram, you have to use the 64 bit version of your operating system, but that works only, when you have an 64 bit CPU
i have 64 bit cpu and operating system but 4 Gb ram
What do you mean by use the 64bit version of my os? Do you mean when i initially installed windows 11 because i chose 64x there.
i loved your intro, less than 10 secs, simply amazing

I haven’t seen the old launcher in like a zillion years.
Me with a dual core i3 and 4gb of ram built into laptop crying myself to sleep
I just have a i3-8145u with intel bud graphics 620 with 4g ram and If upgraded it to 16gb can I run Minecraft on it without dropping me to 20 FPS and still have some mods 😅 because now I need to wait half an hour and I’m curious if I have more ram I’m able to do basic gaming
Will adding more ram help stop lag stutters in multiplayer, I use the optifine and jack smith legacy texture pack and together it makes my game have a lot of stutters
RAM will improve FPS and studders, if you haven't dedicated more to Minecraft I'd recommend doing that (Can be changed in launcher)
But your PC specs could also be holding you back.
@@cameronvanhooft i see ur has forza
@@cameronvanhooft Ik I'm like 2 years late but if I added 4 more ram that what my laptop allocated what would happen
@@foolcool2584 Should basically improve stability
If I play Flight Simulator X on a Intel Core 2 Duo at medium-low graphics at like 15-27 fps, would adding 8 gigs (4gigs previous) help the frames at all?
If it’s using an integrated gpu it will improve it a bit because integrated gpus use system memory as vram. If you have a dedicated gpu you will most likely see an improvement in frame stutters, and maybe a minor bump in fps.
Does it also help with recording like when i record with obs my frames drop alot so if i get more ram does that help me with that ?
Ram doesn’t directly effect fps but it is still very useful because what it does instead is stabilize your framerate, if you some how use 100% of your allocated ram (prolly through mods) you’re game will temporarily freeze, this is because ram is meant to be refreshed, it’s refreshable memory, so if you have a good computer but you notice you’re game is temporarily freezing sometimes, might wanna check your ram (I learned this the hard way tryna play atm 9)
I like that video, also you sound like Tubbo
Hey what’s your power options on I think its on ho recommended put it to bitsum high performance it’s like overclocking

When I allocate 4GB of ram how much FPS do I get?
Also I have a cpu of intel core i3 - 7100 3.9 ghz
Tip: allocate a 1/4 of your ram to minecraft
Because allocating all of your ram makes your entire conputer lag
Vanilla only really needs 1.5-2GB RAM. Any more could actually lag your Minecraft.
Nigga check wtf
@@schoolofwizardry We are talking about RAM not storage.
@@Rayanial I know that now.
What Shaders do you use? And are they still compatible with 1.16.5? because they look sweet!
sildurs shader supports latest minecraft version
In regular Minecraft 4gb is plenty good, bit choppy but not as noticable, in MODDED however you MUST get more than 4 gb ram cause I play with 4 gbs and alot of lag spikes and stuttering is very noticable, when joining certain servers 4gb takes so long that it's impossible to join, when I switched to 12gb all my problems went away and no more lag stutter and I was able to join different servers without any problems
With the same thing be true but with 10gb?
Yes: my 1ST laptop have 4 gb ram with 1-10 fps and my 2ND laptop have 8 gb ram with 60 fps (vsync on) 100 fps + (vsync off )
What intel did u have with 8gb ram ?
Yeah, what is it?
Is it bad to allocate ram like what will it do to other apps
If you leave half your memory for Minecraft you shouldn't have any issues with background apps
I play modded Minecraft and for me in the top right it says I have about 60% allocated and it isn't entirely smooth. Should it be using 100% or does something else need to be done
If it uses 60% you are almost out of memory
@@QSRM nah that's 60% of his allocated memory and it's a good thing it's using that much, the more the better. If it's using less than 10% you either allocated way too much or something wrong.
Finally, someone who actually knows what they’re talking about smh
Minecraft usually should only have as much RAM as it *needs*, anything more and it’ll start stuttering and freaking out because the garbage collector doesn’t know how to deal with all that extra RAM.
Usually most modlists take about 4GB, bigger ones 6GB, and greedycraft specifically (which is every mod ever) 8GB. Vanilla should only have 1 or 2 accolated, 2 if you’re playing past 1.12.2
oof my i5 6400 with 8 GB of RAM (single channel) running at 2133 MHz is stuck at 90 fps with 12 mods even though i saw some people get more fps than mine with the same specs
and since 6th generation Intel CPUs are stuck at 2133 MHz(if you’re motherboard is budget one) maybe that the reason why
Maybe turn off vsync
what's the name of the shader pack? please
Ram increase will only increase memory, if it was fullt then fps is going brrrr 0-idk what fps, if full memory dead crash

I got my computer to run Minecraft at 3200 fps and my ram is the only bottleneck. CPU and GPU usage are very low 30% on GPU and 9% on CPU. Ram however was at 67% because I only have 9gb of ram allocated to Minecraft so increasing ram at unnecessary amounts of fps will help.

I have a 16gb computer and minecraft runs at 10fps, please someone help me!
Probably a bad cpu or gpu.
@@hereliesbaio Yeah, but if the cpu is mediocre then not having a dedicated card for graphics rendering puts way more pressure on the CPU which make sit less able to focus on the CPU side of minecraft. I remember 8 years ago putting a crappy gpu in my system with a decent cpu and I got 30 *more* fps. Going from 2gb ram to 8gb gave me more fps too and then so did 16gb. Upgraded the gpu again didn't increase fps so yeah there's a limit. CPU is everything in minecraft, ram speed is also more important than ram amount.

what i just bought more 8gb and my pc is even SLOWER idk what to do respond please
Slower RAM Speed? Only single channel? Could be a few reasons for this
You most likely didn’t place it in the correct slot, try taking a look at your manual and seeing the best place to put it
they say you should have bought a RAM Kit (a set of 2 RAM sticks i believe) instead of buying two individual sticks(if you’re building a new PC) or adding one more RAM sticks(if going to add more RAM capacity) because the RAM kits are made to go with each other but the reason so technical so i can’t explain it any further so the bottomline is RAM kits perform better than buying two individual sticks or adding one more RAM sticks because RAMs in the RAM kit are designed/configured to be used together unlike individual RAM sticks
