So glad I found you. Been looking for a tut form editing like this. You speak slowly and clearly and I can follow and understand. Now to see if my Photoshop Elements 2018 is similar. Thanks a bunch.

Thank you Kris! I have been using my iPad photos editor but I love this Photoshop option. The stamp feature is really cool!

Yes!! The Clone Stamp Tool is really cool. I remember the first time I used it. It blew my mind. :-) It's great for removing those distracting elements from the reference picture. I'm glad you found this helpful. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

I’ve played a little with an older version of Photoshop but never really got it. This was very helpful. Have loads of similar “out the window” photos I’ve wanted to try to paint. Now I have some steps to help me get my reference photo more useable. Thanks for sharing!

As a beginner...well everything 😂 I have to say thank you a million times over for taking something so daunting and complicated and breaking it down into an easy to understand step by step 10 minute video. Amazing! I can't tell you how many hours of videos I've logged and subscribed to of some really great artist but sometimes I think they forget what it feels like not to know well anything. It feels like they skim over things or miss the crucial steps sometimes until I felt kind of hopeless trying to do the tutorials that feel more geared towards people that have at least some experience so they can just follow along on these heavily edited down videos while I can't. So again thank you! I found you with a 2 year old video about the 7 lessons which was very timely as I've been logging the hours of videos and stopped even trying to follow along since it never works anyway. 😂 Since that video was perfectly timed for where I'm at I went searching for more and while I might not comment on every one I just wanted you to know what you are doing really matters. In the time of watching videos on TV'S I'm thinking creators aren't getting as much feedback and likes as they should because it isn't as easy as on the phone or at least that's what I'm assuming is happening because otherwise I don't understand how I can be the only like with thousands of views time and time again. I'd rather assume that than think the world is becoming so self centered that the little bit of feedback and appreciation that cost a fraction of a second to say thank you didn't even enter their mind. Sigh. Sorry delirious with pain and meds and got sidetracked this went way too long and way off course but all this to just say thank you! Oh, and sorry for the rambling!😂

Well, thank you Christina for your generous feedback and encouragement. I am actually a public school teacher by profession and spend my days trying to take complex subjects and processes, and simplify them down into easy to use steps for my high school students to follow. I think this has helped me a bit on this channel too. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Have a great day!

@@KrisDeBruineStudio Well, you certainly nailed it so all that teaching paid off. I guess teaching us adults isn't too much different than the kids. 😁 I'm currently taking your free beginner's class and am really enjoying it and the paper pdf is awesome already ordered some paper. I was happy to subscribe to your channel and making my way through your videos! Wishing you much success!

I must admit, there are some benefits to the commercial software. I think Adobe has a free trial if you want to try Photoshop before purchasing.

That's what I'll use photoshop (mine is cracked but it works) for. I'll then draw using the reference image on krita. Krita can have jpg or png pictures open for reference on a drawing wich is a great tool to have in a drawing program. Though, the main thing I love about krita is its pop-up palette. I use this all the time as I change brush's size, colour or just changing brushes to another one.
Edit : photoshop doesn't have that and that's why I don't paint on it or draw on it.

Never heard of Krita. Sounds cool. Thanks for sharing.

@@KrisDeBruineStudio YOu're welcome. Krita is an open source program that's free to download on linux, IOS and windows. It was specifically made for drawing and photoshop brushes can be imported to krita (I have some cloud brushes from Photoshop on krita). There's been a lot of improvement since it started. The devs are very few and the program runs on community as people can provide help to make the brushes more like real mediums. Watercolour brushes on krita looks like real watercolour.
