My first HoBao MT was actually branded Ofna and even back then the shocks were an issue and didn't let the chassis touch the ground, every MT I've had from HoBao has had this issue (I think). But since that Ofna truck, boy have they made some changes. Totally agree these trucks are super durable, it's definitely their forte, but tires and handling have been a weak point for a long time, and of course those shocks. If HoBao can fix those things, these trucks would be on a whole different level. Great review, really enjoyed it. Now I need to rip into mine and do some sends. 😁
Thanks for checking out the video! Hopefully Hobao listens and makes some minor changes, I have a couple of other suggestions, but those are the main things they should focus on IMO. Have fun with your new MTX!
The few negatives regarding durability are so easily fixed by the owner. The most important things however, the driveline and chassis are top qyality. I'm so sick and tired of maintaining arrma diffs for example. Hobao diffs are maintained once a year and you're set.
It's a great truck. I don't think it's caught on as of yet but she's a very tough RC. The only issue I don't like is the limited space for the motor. If you want to go big block your limited on length.
Great video, I wanted to update you on some of the design flaws you found on the mtx, I just bought one on the 12-27-22 and the shocks caps no longer rub against the shock holders, they extend out more with good room.
More of a long term durability item but good to know if things loosen up after a lot of use. Usually this comes down to materials and bearing size and size of pins and hinge points. For example I've got 2 years in on a slash 4x4 and there is so much slop I need to replace the whole chassis.
Savage has been around at least close to 20 years almost 20 years ago. I've built an SS kit not long after they first came out and I do think they had a ready to run version before the SS kit matter fact yes they did because it had the .21 engine in my kit came with a .25 high output motor but that was 20 years ago.
Thanks for the MTX review. I was doubting which car to buy to replace the Notorius that I have sold and it was one of my favorites along with the Outcast EXB. I have already bought it and this Sunday I will try to release it. I hope I was right, greetings from Spain
@@magnusstone From the experience I have so far after having used it since April, the car is very hard. I have only broken the body and the anti-wheelie. Outcast EXB in the group of friends that we met there are many and there have been problems with the variators, otherwise it is very good too and perhaps easier to do acrobatics with it than with the MTX
What’s up Razor. I think I live near you. I recognize one of the BMX tracks you go too. Anyway, I saw in one of your videos that you did not like not being able to turn off the new Traxxas ESCs without unplugging the batteries. I have an ERevo 2.0 and am able to turn off the ESC after turning off the transmitter. You may already k ow this. Anyways, cheers and keep up the vids man!
Awesome review... As always.!! It's definitely made my list.!! Is there any chance you could do me a huge solid... If you have time could you let me know what the bodyshell dimensions are.? Sure bro… arrma 6s line is completely dated af design, using a kraton 6s is like going back to 2010, try other car brands get out of the arrma fanboy club and expand your criteria. This hobao is the same price as an outcast exb and looks lightyears ahead, same with the sledge or tekno mt
Agreed. Hobao is not some off brand company, they have been around for 25 plus years. They are bigger in other parts of the world, but after getting an MTX a week ago, I think that may start to change. The machining quality and fit and finish on this is in another class. Their vs2 buggy also looks nuts.
I'm back on the market for a 1/8 scale monster truck to replace my Losi 3XL-E, and I really want to like this truck. But I'm worried about the shocks long-term. Do you think Hobao will release some sort of upgrade/fix for the stock shock issues?
It's also 105mm shorter so not comparable, then compare the MT+2 which is 170mm shorter. You should be comparing apples with apples and the same weigh class.

Looking forward to what you have to say about the mtx, vas.
How would you suggest to make this truck backflip easier. Do you think more power or gearing will help.
I had the Hobao Hyper 7. That buggy was awesome

They never went anywhere, always been awesome rigs.

I Love the HoBao road cars but found the Sste Truggy weak. But like the Arrma 4s there not even out in the Uk yet.
