I have to say I like the clamp that's on it! I know it looks cheap but it's a reminder to all of us that sometimes we have to improvise to make things work so we can enjoy our hobby! No it's not pretty but it's functional and that's what matters!
Totally agree with you, but you know... There's always those that see that as a point of weakness within the product design. It reflects on the company's image and their R&D. If you or I did that, no one would question it and they may even call us clever for using an item outside the RC realm, but when a manufacturer does it... Different story. To some, anyway.
@@AussieRCPlayground 😅You're not wrong on that one! Sadly there are people that see stuff like that clamp and forget the importance of functionality over looks. And as always a great video by the way! I look forward to the running video of this truck! The MT Plus 2 will be in my fleet eventually! You gotta quit selling me trucks dang it.😅 I'm gonna be in debt if you keep this up! Just kidding brother but thank you for your content, keep it up, be safe, and most importantly have fun!!!
Thank you kindly. And same to you, having fun is paramount in this hobby, because we'll all be depressed if we think about the money we spend on it. Haha. "yeah, it's for fun and the memories... Yeah, that's what it is". 😂
I have the Hyper MT Sport Plus and had big problems with the spur gear. That truck looks alot like it . The tires are the same tires on the sport plus ,I think a bit smaller tires/wheels on this truck. I want to see you give ago. I will not buy another Hobao rc.
Awesome video Vas. Never seen one of these in close up before, a hell of a lot to like 👍. Just some attention to detail from manufacturers to get a top product. Look forward to the run video. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼.
Great unboxing and overview of the Hyper MTX Vas. Super stout truck, tough and a blast to drive, based on my experience. You pointed out the main issue I have which is the front shocks geometry(Rear is fine). Simple fix by taking out the bump stops inside the shock cartridge. The 7075 chassis is a huge upgrade Imo.
Nice walkthrough as always, thanks for the shoutout! The truck needs smaller tires, but even with Badlands or Savage X tires I was still breaking shock parts even though the chassis is able to touch the ground. Hopefully you have better luck with the shocks!
I have a Hyper MT SPORT PLUS and had a hard time keeping the spur gear from flying apart. I put a Monster Mamba 2 on it and gave it a power boost, that it needs i think it needs a bit smaller wheels/tires of put abit smaller tires/wheels on this new truck. I wouldn't buy another Hobao RC. Because of the troubles I had with the mt sport plus. But this truck looks pretty good.
This might sound odd but I'm thrilled to see the rear tires like that because it draws the eyes to *gasp! Rear toe adjustment! I'm a tune fanatic and the casual over-use of rear toe in by Arrma and Traxxas just looks and feels lazy ... And a cheap cop out to a useful tuning device by them not designing it in ... TL,DR ... rear toe yay . Thanks Hobao
Great video i had the grey one years ago looks like they made some good changes..but awesome video Keep up the great videos 👍 Is there a link by chance for this one
Don't have a link for this one as they are sold from a few different retailers and they vary in price a bit. Your best option is to Google it. 😁 Thanks for stopping by. 👍
Aussie RC Playground thanks mate I probably won't buy it to the new year now get Christmas out of the way and also hopefully it might come down in price fingers crossed 😀👍
This truck is very nice. But I don't like the motor sounds? I know it's trivial but oh well. I've seen many videos of it running and they all sound horrible 😅😂. Great truck anyways. Thanks for the video!
Hmm, I don't think it would be better value. Not only are both trucks about the same price here in Australia, you can't compare the durability of ZD Racing to HoBao - HoBao is way better and stronger. Plus, it's super hard to find parts for ZD Racing and no local shops stock it. Resale value will also be a factor as you'd be lucky to sell the ZD Racing truck for a third of its original price, while you could sell HoBao for half to 2/3 of its original price. And ZD Racing is not known for having reliable electrics either, so I'm sorry, but I can't see how ZD Racing offers better value. 🤷🏼♂️
@@AussieRCPlayground Have you seen the mx07 close up? It's a very well engineered rc. ZD make some very tough rc's and the 160a mx07 comes with hobbywing esc and motor. The chassis is 7075, driveshafts are oversized, gears are spiral cut cnc steel, lots of other cnc parts throughout and from what I've seen the mx07 is the better performer of the two trucks.
@@Lander76 I've had ZD Racing trucks before and just showing them a jump results in them breaking. I have the ZD Racing 1/7 road car and I believe the big truck you're referring to has the same type of chassis. As a road car it held up just fine, but my experience with the brand leads me to believe that anything off-road will result in tears 😭. I'm also not aware of them using anything from Hobbywing, so this must have changed recently because their electrics constantly failed, especially their ESCs. But despite all of this, you still have the issue that they're not any cheaper than HoBao, no local parts support and hard to find online, and durability is still in question. Maybe ZD have made changes, maybe they're a tough truck now, but unless they are several hundreds of dollars cheaper than a known brand and they're supported by popular websites and local hobby shops, I don't see how they offer better value than this MTX or any other truck of the same price. Sorry, we'll have to agree to disagree. 🤷🏼♂️
If you're going with the RTR, I'd pick the MTX. It's a better balance of power and size, and it's super durable. If you're going with the roller version, then you can go with either one. Just make sure you have a good motor for the bigger truck. Something in the 4082 or 4092 size with a sub 2000kv would be ideal.
Lower Bec output is better. Smaller steering servo is better. Loose servo saver is better. All cars turn when wheels are rolling. The quickest way to burn up your esc is to bind your steering and then have too much of one of the items I just mentioned and bye bye ESC
Excellent overview. The MTX looks like another solid offering from Hobao. Can't wait to see how this performs at the BMX track.
Awesome that you got a MTX, too.
Looking forward to your running footage and review.

Definitely needs better geometry, that's the issue with the Reeper too mostly

I think hobao is going backwards with there cars, not much improvement with there version 2 or version 3 cars
Did you watch the whole video? In what way are they going backwards if they made so many changes on this truck?
