I have it's lesser known sister Sony TC-WR550Z, with same features except only records on one side and has Dolby S. I'm impressed with all the features as well.
Apart from the unreliable and fragile TCM-V200 mechanic unit (I hope I'm not mistaking), 611S is a nice machine, nice sound and Dolby S, 3 heads, great calibration system and good electronic side.
Come, on! That's too easy, 835 being the upper line model. Plus, it doesn't really have extra features, more like improved features, adding only Dolby S to the Dolby NR spectrum and fast speed winding. Unless I'm missing anything :)
Sony TC-WA9ES aka TC-WR965S for the Japanese market has a separate Dolby per well and fully independent structure including two BIAS generators. Also, it included an ARL system to adjust the recording level automatically.
Higher quality transport and electronics come with a very high increase in price and I agree they are vastly superior, 635 seems more like a toy, but I would not consider them extra features. However, the discrete Dolby setting, motorized doors (like the WR835 I also reviewed) and controls for balance and dubbing level could be considered extra features. The WE635 also has ARL (and a CD Synchro feature that afaik 965 lacks) so considering the price difference you don't get that much more (again, in features, not quality which the WR series is known to surpass the WE). And, in all honesty you would expect to see all of these features on a TOTL beast like the 965, but it is surprising to se them on a cheap 635 :)
@@Fubar06 ah ok gotcha thanks. I *do* like the sound of the 475 except some song with certain guitar riffs & piano ones, the W&F start to become really apparent. Thanks so much for replying and giving you honest take on these. I will subscribe

And it has better tape transports as well.

Do you think the Aiwa ad-wx929 is better overall than this Sony?
Absolutely, yes.
Easy to service?
It is on the easy side, yes. At least basic things like rollers and belts.
@@Fubar06 excellent! Thanks. I was hoping it would be.
6/10 for sound on type 2 tapes? Ouch😢 I'll pass
Thanks for the texted review, appreciated😊
It's not BAD, it just doesn't shine :)
@Fubar06 ah ok whew. Thanks. Is it much better than the 475?
@@Zimmy_1981 Similar mechanical and sound wise, superior feature wise.
