- Life is getting hard | Wisdom from an Old Man
Sometimes we need to take a step back and reflect on what we are actually trying to accomplish and what our dream life really actually looks like. We cant keep working 80 hour weeks if we don't have a set target then stop to smell the roses when we hit that goal.
Life goes fast, forget the "stuff" and make time for experiences. In the end thats all that matters.
Thanks for all the love on this video, the comments, likes and shares.

I’m 67 and I would add that young folks should believe us when we say, “Debt is slavery.”
Hi mate, thanks for checking out the video. The levels of debt society current has is out of control. Young people think they need a Million $ house and 100k car when in reality they need nothing close to that. My daughter just saved and bought a house for $350k and drives a 10k car with no debt. No high income, but also no stress from outrageous debt levels.
Big debts cause people to have to stay in jobs they probably hate, for a very very long period of time.
one problem is that governments (which are owned by banksters)
deliberately get the nation into debt
and then tell the working class
they have to pay it off.
so even if you stay out of debt,
nefarious elements are trying to get you enslaved in debt regardless.
Shekels for your shackles...oy vey
Been chanting the mantra for years, spot on.
Prudence is a very undervalued habit.
Slavery wasn’t abolished, it was redesigned as financial credit coupled with needless consumerism
Slavery became a worldwide prison without walls...
It was redesigned as employment under capitalism.
Wrong. Slavery is involuntary. All you are saying is you are so weak you allow yourself to be "enslaved." People actually voluntarily choose to engage in needless consumerism. The real problem is so few people have the wherewithal to think and act for themselves.
@@kaoskronostyche9939 the government is making it exceedingly difficult to not be in the system by having a job. Even if you own a chunk of land off grid, it's becoming harder to not need so e wage slave job to survive. It's just a few steps above it, and the system is rigged so most will never get ahead
@user-ll3kc4kq2dNah it's not deep or anything. It's simply the truth
Stress kills.

It absolutely does and makes you older than your years.
I think stress kills more than sugar or cholesterol
Facing unexpected health issues forced me into early retirement with barely enough savings. It was a tough transition, but investing became my lifeline. Fast forward 6 years, and I can't believe I have reached a return of $7 million. This video made me reflect on how much my life has turned around.
Honestly, Luck plays a huge role more-so than the resources to thrive with investing. without it, it's very challenging to succeed
consistent result, isn't luck. I attribute this to research which was the challenging part before it led me to Emily Ava Milligan, a top fund manager, in turn she made 310k into this and counting
I pasted her name into my browser, and her website popped right up. It was clear, she is in high demand. your example was rare i wish i had it earlier to reference. Thanks for the share

I understood fully at 23 that nothing matters. I'm 49 now. This understanding has made life both wonderful and very difficult-because I'm surrounded by people who still believe everything matters, all their least actions and goals. Goals, purpose, have never been a part of my life, being poor my understanding has made my material circumstances precarious. Nothing matters, life is meaningless and that is the greatest thing. We are truly One.
Ironically, you seem to be rich in spirit…you already have the ability to not hang on and become identified with the passing parade of perceptions. For this reason as poor materially as you may be, you have genuine wealth.
Excellent
I also find it difficult to relate to people with these thoughts. Looking around and seeing everyone in a hurry to do things that none of us really want to be doing, all whilst being on edge and mad and everything around us. It truly is madness. It hurts my heart to see it.
We are all connected. I love all of you and hope everyone has the best day.

Out on admin leave for 7 weeks now as typing this and I feel the best I’ve ever felt!
I know it is for the best.
A busy stock broker at 39 I quit began to travel and enrolled in the Master's of Theology Program at St. Thomas University, gave my TV to my sister's kids and made new friends. Here I am at 73. Looking back at the memories! I was so lucky. So many have died along the way. So many of my loved ones like me are elderly and beset with all sorts of medical problems. Looking back I can see God was there, often I didn't accept God's presence. But at the end of the day, God gets what God wants. Getting old is like old wine. It takes time but it is so much richer than new wine and so much more complex. It forces you to savor the moment.
Wonderful story, thanks for sharing mate. Congratulations on a beautiful life. Enjoy 73 and beyond!
I realized it. Was working 10 to 15 hours per day, on call 7 days a week, remoting into work while on vacation. Did not have a single vacation where I didn’t work. 3 to 6 meetings per day, 5 days a week. If my life was a movie, I felt like an extra. Not the star, not a costar, not even that random dude with one speaking line. If my life was a movie, I wouldn’t even have made it into the credits at the end. I quit that job. I’m now broke, but I feel more alive than I ever did. I’m the lead actor in the movie of my life again. Very strange. It’s like the body worries about money and such, but the soul just wants to be free.

Hola from Queretaro. I have been speaking Spanish since age 14. Merida was too hot. I never wanted a house in Acapulco, but I rented a home, had a timeshare, rented rooms and apartments.
I am a USA Muslim.
I am in my 82nd year living in Queretaro since 2021. I was 20 in 1962, when I came alone from Chicago on a 2 weeks vacation to Mexico, from the border down to Acapulco. You are never alone, when nice families are around, and beware of the evil and scammers around. Earthquakes were the deal breakers for not retiring to Acapulco. I always worked, and never asked anyone for anything. I am a giver to nice and honest none beggars, and my 411 is FREE.
USA got too dangerous, so I left at 79, for I would have eliminated the John Gacy look alike trying to get into my heavily blocked apartment with a key at all hours of the day and night. I was being poisoned for life insurance, but God warned me, and he took care of the evil demon. God protects me, but I do protect myself also by any means necessary.
I have had to protect myself from evil demons, no matter where I live. I pity the fool, who tries to eliminate me.
I have traveled all 50 USA states and the world on my own dime from WORKING A JOB, that paid every 2 weeks, overtime, and paid vacations up to 6 weeks.
Never needed a go fund to travel. I speak Spanish and other languages since age 14 as a second language. I survived the USA for 79 years and earned all my income there. A nice pension and small savings support me and allows me to help non beggars. I can smell scammers and dishonesty a block away, and then I block their behinds.

I like to think we're more than Dust in The Wind. Dust doesn't have a soul.
we are spiritual beings in a physical body, we are here to learn
Well based on what I read in the comment section, people are ignoring this directive
Life seems to be a paradox of having to want to do things you dont want to do, in order to do what you want to do
Sad
I look at it like this: I'm alive every moment, whether while working, looking at the ocean, waiting in line, at a baseball game, at the dentist, or stroking a loved one's cheek. Consider not that you're enduring some life for other life you prefer, it's all one big thing and it's yours.
@JC-du6sn thanks for the book recommendation, I've read similar sort of books, and am open to the idea of the afterlife and all the possibilities it has to offer, however my focus is and has to be in the here and the now.
I'm by no means perfect, but do my best to live each day carrying my cross, so to speak.
I see our time here as heaven.. or hell. It's a mindset thing as well as practicing what you preach. You only get out what you put in, reap what you sow sort of thing.
We are all co creators in this realm, so create respectfully and responsibly, or you may be contributing to hell. Again, also in your own mindset.
Another way to look at 'the afterlife' is, after we pass, (and that may be to nothing, just recycled back into the compost heap of mother earth)
What are we leaving behind for our loved ones that still remain, and any future generations. What legacy do we leave?
Life still goes on after our life. Live your best life today, so tomorrows children can live theirs.
My original statement wasn't meant as a negative.
Every thing depends on perspective.
Just about everyone groans at the thought of cleaning, but we hate living in our own filth, so we clean up and then get to enjoy a clean fresh tidy living/work space.
Learn to enjoy the cleaning, to have the clean space to also enjoy.
Cleaning can be learned to be an enjoyable task, no matter how nasty the cleanup. It's humbling and teaches humility and a great activity for mindfulness and meditation.
In short, it can extremely therapeutic.
This principle applies across the board.
Learning to want to do the things you don't want to do, in order to have what you want.
Mindset, perspective, discipline etc.
You don't get the reward before the effort

It’s not the years, it’s the mileage….
@@SuddenOwl-yq6rr Maybe so.
age is just a matter of personal perception and thats it whether you're 20, 40, 60, or eighty years old, no matter
I'm not "old", but I vividly remember being 20 like yesterday and now I'm 40. I'm absolutely certain the time from 40 to 60 will go by even faster than 20 to 40 did. That gets one contemplating life. You think at 20 you have endless amounts of time. You don't. The sooner you try to maximize every.single.day, the better. Try to focus on spending your time and energy on things which really matter in life to you. There's no escaping the responsibilities of life, but any time you can steal snapshots of time for your personal happiness and well being - do it, because the moments are fleeting.
Life is like a glass of water. When you're young it's full so you splash it around & spill quite a bit. When you're older there's not that much left in the glass, so you're a bit more careful, holding it steady so as not to waste the little that remains. 😉

One of my best mates wasted himself at 16. That was tough. It reminded me of how quickly things can end, no matter the cause. My first daughter died at 3.5 years. That was tough too, that was 17 years ago. I went from 35 to 55 at light speed. Technically that was 20 years, but in reality it was the blink of an eye. There's no time like right now to get going with it.

The Harvard Longevity Study followed Harvard graduates starting when they were sophomores in 1938. The study now continues with children of the original participants. The number one thing that makes a person healthy and happy is good relationships. Not career success, not money, not fame, not genes. Once people get to a certain age, almost everyone realizes that the money, the cars, the houses, and the trips to Spain mean almost nothing. They are nice, but they don't make you happy.
Hi 👋 Life has always been hard. I think most people find it that way. I do. I'm in my sixties. I live on my own by choice.
💥 I'm 57 and I'm in panic because I wasted my life and I don't know how much time do I still have. Some days ago, I was 17, now 57, I don't know how time passed so fast. Perhaps it's our routine, all days are equal, only work, work... You count in your fingers the days in which you really lived, the day you went to the mountains, the day you did skydiving, the day your son was born. The days which were really different. So, why we waste our lives ? Why don't we make value every single day, as if it were the last day ? Perhaps we should go in contact with nature, away from the grid, away from these problems, away from the routine, and live each day deliciously. 🎉❤❤❤
I think because the known/routine is safe and comforting and the brain automatically goes for it to protect the rest
That’s me now. I wasted so much time. I realize now you just gotta do it. Do life and don’t worry about what if. It’s hard to do that in the moment.
Go to the mountains. Just came back refreshed. Didn't use technology once.
@@merrimackvalleyblackdog45 You're completely right. ❤️. I wish I could go to the mountains, but unfortunately, now I can't leave my life, but I'm planning to do as soon as possible. I think one day at the mountains worth for 1 entire month at the city. 🙏👍💥
A wonderful reminder....at 50, my husband & I quit our jobs, sold &/or stored all our possessions (including our house) & traveled around the U.S. for 5 months. We thought we'd do it again someday, but we never did & now in our late-70's, we probably never will. So that early decision was SO right for us. The memories are worth everything! However many years we have left, we will always opt for "following our bliss" & making memories.
Whatever you do “be useful”. Everything ends. That’s the beauty of it all…
Be indifferent to money and stress. Don't be unhealthy. Chase wonder and awe. Realize everything physical is irrelevant, but cherish the things you enjoy for the time you can. Don't care what others think of you. Don't compare yourself to others. Learn things all the time. Took me a while to understand these things, but a few years ago I did and all stress, misery, and anxiety are replaced by realer and truer things.
Ahhh…that’s beautiful.
Thank you kneel for the perspectives of life
Thanks for watching
Great words from a young 44-year old man. I'm 55 now and I came to a similar epiphany when I was your age, but it resulted from gaining more knowledge about the shear size & scale of the universe. When you realize how infinately small we are (our whole planet) when compared with the vastness of the cosmos, you begin (or at least I did) to question why am I chasing all this stuff? Since then, my wife and I have literally traveled all over the world - doing the things we've always talked about; always watched on television. We just did it. And you're absolutely right - it's the experiences and memories we will remember when the end comes.
Life has always been hard, that's nothing new.

It depends on how you take care of yourself, your health, the food you put in your body, natural, avoiding toxins in the food, water, air, you can absolutely be 50 and look young, like Mike O'Hearn, but you have to take care of your health, there is people that spend their youth drinking from 20-40s and they look like a literal walking corpse, as if they were already biologically 60 years old, I'm 28 years old, I have to always remind myself that I have to take good care of myself, take probiotics to avoid getting cancer, like in kefir, have fatty omega 3s, reduce inflamation (reduce salt and sugar), some proteins, minerals from organic vegetables, be a little active and enjoy life, there is no illness if you enjoy your life.

Do you mean light beings from what I'm thinking or are you saying with a religious connotation?, I remember a female doctor that said that when a sperm reaches the ovule the body produces a shinning light that is so pretty to watch, the creation of life.
Your boat is sailing in the right direction. Stuff, indeed, doesn't matter. In fact, the more you lose or give away, the more free you become. It is hard letting go, at first. But in the long run you know it's only stuff. And when it does all end, and you are FORCED to downsize, the less stuff you have the easier the transition. Life is getting hard. I'm 65, live in a hotel in Oklahoma where I manage the night desk. I've become a minimalist. I still think about all the stuff I let go. But what surrounds me now is the most important. Friends and family.
Good life reflections. Ive worn a silver skull around my neck since I was 18. I spontaneously and deeply comprehended my mortality when I was 13, and I have never forgotten.
I just turned 50, I dont own a house (hardly anyone does, they are just paying a bank) I am debt free, and have 60k saved.
I work 4 days, rest + play for 3.
I chose not to have children, and Ive been single by choice, for the last 14 years.

One thing she says she hears often from the dying is the regret of working too much.
NICE!!!! i am very similar, i do own my house, although nothing fancy, no kids, no wife or girlfriend ( not my thing) a few bucks in the bank , I am a minimalist, i don't care about stuff, i work part time, i prefer free time over buying stuff any day, , my motto is , stop buying nonsense/EVERYTHING is nonsense,
It does all end for all of us at some point. I was just thinking at 36 all of the family and friends that have passed away and it’s shocking how fast it puts into perspective my own life and the unknown expiration date associated with it.
You are an inspiration and great role model. Please take good care of yourself.
Appreciate you mate.
It's like people with the Bucket List make a career out of that, too. It is not all these external aspects; trips, jumping from airplanes, sweat lodge in the Yucatan , etc. that we are craving. There is nothing to have, be or do to be profoundly joyful or st peace. It is an inside job, that you can't even get consensus on with other people. Engineer your mind, emotions and body to this glorious moment. Yoy will never get it back. And take the Adventure of Total Surrender to the sweetness you slways were and are. Wherever you are is the best place ti be then. Also, in this state, you will begin to see that Life, which created you, and will leave you, loves you. And always did. You just didn't return the favor. Life also has an understanding that our animal brains will never muster. It will also take chances, go places, cry, laugh, win and lose. It will BE Life. You BE Life. Din't possess it. Now, that is one lucky S.O.B.

“Our contradictions.
We are in such a hurry to grow up, and then we long for our lost childhood.
We make ourselves ill earning money, and then spend all our money on getting well again.
We think so much about the future that we neglect the present, and thus experience neither the present nor the future.
We live as if we were never going to die, and die as if we had never lived.”

And they say hard times makes you a better person. Politicians and bosses love this
Great video. Had a similar conversation with an acquaintance this morning. He’s just started his seventh decade and I’m in my sixth. The thing we agreed too many people take for granted are healthy years to do what you want to do in life.
Some have a good combination of nature and nurture, some, not so much. You have to work with what you got.
I had a relative recently die in his early 50s on that trip he finally decided to take.
It’s easy when one is healthy and statistically young, to believe one has time to get to it later.
Sometimes one isn’t lucky. There are things I am so glad I did in my 40s that would be a bit foolhardy to attempt today, just given natural physical aging, not to mention the good ol’ DNA lottery 😅.
The greatest gift you can give a child is a love of reading books, and healthy food knowledge. This isn't easy to do, as it requires a gentle ramp of positive messaging and constant assistance.
Screens are fun, but 99% of the time trying to sell you something to keep you stuck in a loop
Life is suppose too be hard, thats how you learn stuff, then it becomes easier, but then you get old and it becomes hard again.
Life is awesome though....especially the good times with happy people.
The title caught my attention enough to click. Doing something in the background with my other phone is the perfect example of a true distraction. It wasn’t until the end of the video I realized my attention was drawn in the wrong place. I totally missed the entire message.
At 50 years of age, I’m finding this post to be more in alignment with how I’ve been living and how I need to start thinking differently. God willing, I’ll get another 30-40 years on earth, but not like the last 50.
I pray to God for more wisdom, to move and think intelligently.
Stuggling everyday to not end myself, permanent injury, dont see the point to continue to live.
You'll be happier in a bit. Hold on
Same 😔
Permanent injury. Those 2 words speak to me. in 2001 I had the worst car accident both of us in my car are still mangled and multiple failed surgeries. The pain subsides to less than half over time. I don't know how but I think the body and mind kind of figure it out. I didn't leave my room for over 13 years and now I am grateful for every day. Stay strong.
Sorry to hear that. I don't even like minor physical pain much less what you have to endure.
There's a great meditation: Roy Masters Seven Minute Meditation
It's not snake oil. It's really helped me and countless thousands throughout the years
@@davidpaulk785 Thank you, I will research it
I’m 44 as well… it’s strange that at the age of 40, almost immediately and daily, I’m became very aware of my own mortality… before 40 I felt like I’d live forever… then all the sudden you realize any day could be your last.
Your wisdom is helpful and can help people find themselves and let go of the material realm.
I'm sitting here, 67 years old listening to a guy that's 44 telling me he's old.
Here in the good old USA, losing everything at least once is a right of passage. Note the recent tornado activity. I moved out west from the east coast and left every single accumulated possession. Never felt better. I did take my bicycle.
I agree. My home and lands burned in 2021. The great Caldor Fire. Look it up.
Lost everything. Sixty years of shit....I'd a burnt half of it myself!
Never been happier. Kids grown and me and the wife got to buy a new place and buy all new shit as if we just moved in together.
Life is weird.
@@ananda_miaoyin i knew a guy back east that filled up his parents house so full of 'stuff' that he lived in another smaller house. he thought it was all going to become valuable someday! it was all JUNK for the dumpster. old car in the yard he thought people would come buy the parts... hilarous.
(sorry about your house, it's painful at first)
I have always felt like I lacked ambition when I couldn't drum up enough drive to join the hustle culture. Deep inside , I knew it wouldn't be good for my health, both physical and mental. I have a relative who made it to the top of her game by working long and hard and tirelessly...I've always admired her drive, mostly because I thought that I lacked it. She now has Parkinson's Disease and told me yesterday that she thinks that her constant and decades long go go go lifestyle was to blame. I have no issues with working an honest job, but I also want to sit on the deck and watch the birds and listen to the wind in the trees and identify that one squirrel who always gets into the bird feeder and listen to the crickets after dark. Some make me feel as if that is laziness, but my health has never been better and I am content not being in the fortune 500. This video is such a calm, level headed reminder that there are many, many of us like that. Thank you.
you are doing life right, screw the ones that call you lazy, let them partake in hustle culture while you watch the birds, you have it right my friend
True words spoken.
Life is completely meaningless. But it’s a good thing, nothing to be worried about. We do a lot of silly things while we’re here, and that’s where we go wrong.
I am 57, retired at 53, this is just sign of the times fer sure, I hope everyone just makes better choices for themselves cause their bad decisions affect us ALL!
“You’re making the most of life.” ❤
I am just about to turn 66 retired at the end of January this year I didn’t realize of much stress I was under until just a few weeks ago I have worked hard all my life and have the paid the price a couple back surgeries a knee replacement arthritis but it’s a privilege to get old. I consider myself very fortunate good funds coming in and many hobbies, I believe you need to keep hitting everyday hard do what you need to do and can do take care of your health because health is wealth no way around it! I will run out of time I won’t be one waiting in front of a TV waiting to pass on or at least I hope not being here is the greatest thing that we are given we need to not waste it but to enjoy it, do what you want or try to have a plan / outline of what you want to see do but remember one thing you are not in charge
The human population can’t keep growing without life becoming harder. That’s a law of nature.
Life is vague. No point squinting with consternation.
Keep quiet. And all will come tp you.
Used as a relative term, man, life has always been hard. Some just have it easier than others. The most that you can do is do your best to make wise decisions and prepare for the unexpected. That's it.
Age 61, had a company ..was a coder since the 70s and a musician background - Had great insurance, and was hit by a stroke a year ago - Insurance says they don't cover blood clots in brain .. Now left with less than $50 / month - Just removed 200+ tracks on all platforms ..planning to re-release the best of them scheduled from today and 50+ days forward /a single, then EP or album). Just to make me feel I still live .. That's my summer, did isolated myself from all the fakes out there. I'm planning to wingsuit a mountain I climbed back in 1984 this august. I do have a lot to live for, but what about myself?- Thats the question.
Well said - totally agree 👍
Turning 46 this year.. I own my house, and some investment properties that I have just finished renovating. So, got no loan and mortgage. Also, got no kids. Later on this year, I will travel for 1-2 months. Apart from that, I have got nothing else to do :D But I am looking for a business to buy as part of a change in careers. I want to work, but I definitely dont want work to consume my entire life. I like to keep a healthy balance between looking after myself physically, mentally, and whatever I decide to do as part of my next career move...
Revelation 1:18
“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
Matthew 7:13
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:”
Matthew 7:14
“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
Even the good experiences don’t matter if you grow old and lose your memory or if you are in so much pain that you cannot enjoy those great memories. Think of all the happy times you have probably already forgotten. You have to question who, what, and where we are, and consider whether perhaps we were designed to be slaves or prisoners of some kind, as crazy as that sounds.
This is pretty much common knowledge about death & birth but for some reason it's refreshing to hear someone talk about it and remind us about what's really important.Thx.
Life is getting easy once you leave the cities and live a minimalistic homesteading harmony life within nature.
I'm almost 64 and I can tell you at 44 you're just a young fella , 44 to 64 are excellent years.
I bought and have held bitcoin since 2021, life is getting much easier.
congratulation Bro!!!
Life stopped being worth living in the mid 2010s. From now on, its been just pain and suffering with no joy or rewards.
😮
Great video and thanks for sharing. I tried to keep this in mind everyday myself but it gets challenging sometimes
“Eventually nothing matters” says it all.
Jim Morrison said it best "No one gets out of here alive"
😂
People are Strange.😮
The correct line is “no one here gets out alive” from the song Five to One.
That's what he said @@roundpatty
Also: The future's uncertain and the end is always near
I’m 66 and retired at 62. I was enjoying being a Truck Driver at 44. I did that trucking job 26 years. No accidents and only one speeding ticket. That ticket was bogus. It happened in Wyoming. I was departing a small town. I looked up ahead at a speed limit sign that said 55 mph. There was no traffic except one small SUV coming towards me. I started speeding up before the sign and the SUV was a female Sheriff. She pulled me over for doing 45 mph in a 35 zone. I tried talking her out of it because I hadn’t had any tickets in over 30 years. She was determined to generate revenue for her County.
I was a greedy investor untill I was 27, I was able a mass high 6 figures and parlay it into a dividend oil and plastic equity. Now pushing 60 I can now be noble and a tree hugher and own 24 hours of my day. Money solves all problems, thinking it doesnt is most people's reality. Great video!
Agreed, money can solve most problems but not the ultimate one, right?! It can also create its own problems, of course, but compensates with increased opportunities.
How long did it take to go from 6 figures to 1 million?
@@ronniesamaroo1775 I was on the high 6 figures for years until I understood risk and arbitrary investing. Then I used options by selling premiums and naked options to get to 7 figures. That took about 24 months to do.
Money does not solve unexpected health issues trust me!
I’m a 60’s baby and life has always been hard, chaotic and confusion with a bunch of oxymoronic events. It’s just gotten worst, because few attempted to stop the crazy trains from zooming in and off the man-made soullessly sold tracked rails.
Death is not the end, it is merely a transition :))
Any evidence, you were here by chance, why would there be anything after, there is no coming back, think about it
Transition into nothingness...
@@glenmason1876I have thought about it. It is the most depressing thing a person can think and I am not a depressing person. To believe that this world is all there is. Good luck.
I wonder if that's taxes and regulations on the other side
Unfortunately, you want the "me" to continue, but you don't get it! When you die, the "me" with all its contents comes to an end. Your individuality is nothing but an illusion.
This video is special to me
Thanks for watching mate
I am 47 and just starting to feel the effects of aging the last 5 years. Life is short. My husband and I want to downsize and tighten up our finances. We are doing well with two businesses, but we want to just simplify things and sell a lot of our stuff.
