That is true. Material items are pointless unless they are useful for your life, and the money you earn can be used towards your loved ones to improve their lives. If they are not useful in any way, it is pointless. Although saying that, you could argue that some 'useless' items can bring useful features such as 'status' or 'satisfaction' in just looking at something. Even with this, it's always beneficial to do a cost-benefit analysis on each of our items. If the item is technically great but adds nothing to your life, then the time spent earning that money could be better spent on your loved ones.

Thinking of death gives you clarity, you can put perspective on life, it removes depression and anxiety.

Death is not talked about in Western world for a reason!

It’s really great to hear this genuine moment of mortality. Nothing like death to put a new complexion on life! 😅 Afterall we do need it, without the old trees dying where would the young ones grow. But then what is this all for? A car is handy, but handy for what? A house is handy, but handy for what? A business? Food, drink? What for? What was the business that started all this? Why? Is there a plan? What is it? Once completed what then? Oh joy, the questions are endless 😂

Oh man I am in the same place. There's never any end to thinking and planning and making more money and scaling up and you're right, we just add on more hours. Where does it end... The NUMBER, yes!! We all agree there's more to life than money, so why not wear a red robe this December & loiter inside a shopping centre handing out gifts to toddlers with their parents. Spread & share the joy amongst the community, that will live long in the memory of all concerned.

Time is so valuable to me that what most places will pay me is completely laughable and I take the time over money almost every time nowadays....

Sadly I'm back trading my time for money at 57yo,, something I hadn't/couldn't have foreseen, interestingly my time I now see as valuable,, irreplaceable,, priceless actually

You will always know how much money you have but you will never know how much time you have; time is your greatest asset in life and life is very short. Spend as much time with your family as you can.

Trade time for money and money for assets until the assets pay enough money to no longer trade time for money.

I live by the beach and nature, I pretty much live at work but I am saving. I get to enjoy the outdoors every week. It’s perfect for me(traveled enough already)

I’m 42 and I lost my job 3 days ago after working for a property management company for almost 2 years. Despite my skill set I feel unemployable… My confidence is shattered and I’m depressed to the point where all I want to do is sleep. I have 3 lifelines… 2 former jobs where I left on good terms, and a temp agency where I was a top performer. Having said that I’m having feelings of self-doubt. Mainly because I’m thinking to myself “it’s likely the employers I once worked for are no longer there, and that there’s a new group of people that swooped in and took over. They don’t know me… Not only that, the knowledge I had about the job no longer applies and I’ll have to start over again (assuming they want to hire me back). And if I get hired back, I fear walking into a toxic environment where my colleagues treat me like shit and say “whatever you did before no longer applies. This is how we do it now, and you better learn fast or you’ll be out of here faster than when you walked in.” On top of that I have planned for and paid off a trip to South Korea that’s been a year in the making. I’ll be gone for 2 weeks from Late September to early October. That may come across as a red flag in the interview. So, even though I was told I have 3 lifelines, I’m not so sure I do. That’s what’s scary.
