Thanks for watching! What did you guys think of Emerson's new Sgian Dubh fixed blade/neck knife? Make sure you hit that 👍 for us so RUclips knows you like it, and consider subscribing! 😎
Love seeing a modern version of the simple and primitive design of what a knife is. It will have no problem completing the job for which it was designed.
Not traditionally carried in boot but in sock / kilt hose. The wool kilt hose is held up by elastic gater type arrangement which also hold up garters. Traditional kilt hose was held up with cloth ties. Scots wore a dirk and claymore when armed so this was a utility knife or last ditch weapon. Was thought to be carried around underarm area until entering into friends' home.
You mention food prep... a lot. I can't seem to find any related videos for that on this channel. What situations are you using this knife for food prep?
Hey there, typically we’ll use a fixed blade for cutting meat. I’ve used this in steakhouses, cookouts, etc. Most restaurant knives, or average kitchen knives aren’t sharp. So having a something sharp in pocket helps with achieving clean cuts of meat rather than sawing through. We never use anything larger than a small fixed blade in mixed company though.
We were discussing that exact thing. However, our conclusion was that we'd hate to cover up the beauty of those Celtic knots. Either way this knife is gorgeous!
@@TheClipPoint Fair point, amazing looking knife for sure. Interesting blade geometry, has the belly of a sheepsfoot but almost a dagger like tip. Great video as always and love the shirt, Tombstone is one of the best movies ever made😎

Skeean Doo in Scottish Gaelic, but in Irish Gaelic Shee-an Doov is the proper pronunciation. It translates to mean "black knife" or "hidden knife".
It's definitely a neat little knife
I bought one for the wife, got it with a commander and now I'm waiting for the seax.
Both of us own a Seax. Absolutely fantastic blade! You’ll love it when you get one.

@@TheClipPoint Cool. Thanks for the info. I agree, most people's kitchen knives are atrocious.
Cool looking knife, maybe some thin leather as a wrap would finish it off.

As far as the tactical goes., if you look at it as a last ditch knife that could save your life, it's very tactical because it's hidden, IMO
Also its pronounced scan do according to my wife since she worked at emerson for a couple months
I knew it!!!! #winning 😂
Blade steel??
This knife is the same as most Emerson’s with 154 CM and the same heat treat.
