To me this feels more balanced, and with Call to Arms, increases your earnings. These missions were too exploitable before.
I feel delivery missions are better for new players. Gets them used to landings and take offs, as well as navigation.
Imagine my surprise when I got nostalgic and went out in a C8R… I survived and completed the mission, but my hull was red, and I don’t mean from the default paint…
These missions were good only when they were introduced. Then CIG saw that they are lucrative and we all know CIG loves to troll players, so they nerfed them each patch a bit by a bit. To force people use real money to buy stronger and better ships to do them more easily.
And also they have decreased the spawn rate, most of them are at Microtech. But still mostly useless and no more lucrative.
Up until 3.18, mission threats were the best, medium and high can be done easily alone in Arrow, Scorpius, Hornet, Buccaneer, Gladius, Cutlass and most starting and first tier upgrade ships. Hurricane is the best if you do not wish to spend real money on ships, grind until 1.5 million, outfit it and start working them, can be done all except critical, Idris is tough for a single Hurricane in time, at some point the mission will be gone.
Some more things: gimbals are useless, can't track past SCM and if you fight at high speeds, desync will prevent hiting, hitreg is a pain.
3.18 will be missile meta and ballistic meta, CIG trolls players, yet again. Arrow can destroy pretty much any ship in 30 seconds or less with ballistic scatterguns. Ballistic data is useless without armor, all ships have same armor only more (or less) hitpoints.
Cunning, now all high ships with 100k+ hitpoints like Terrapin will be desired from pledge store.
Missile meta?
Honestly..I've been getting hostile NPC's on monitor missions since 3.16..this doesn't seem much different.
Radar contact! FYI you can turn down ship verbosity. It means just less voice notifications. You still get beeps
I'm one of those new players looking for something I could do that only had a little combat but paid better than deliveries. I watched one of those old videos and couldn't figure out how my missions were going so wrong. Died 6 times before I finished one. Only now did I find THIS video explaining where things went bad. At least it is very good dogfighting practice.
Even basic box missions have become much harder in 3.18.
Feels like half the mission tab is monitor and skimmer missions
I had no idea the ships where the monitors. I ran into the comm sat and exploded. It's like an iron tree in space and it ain't moving. Thanks now maybe i can make some bettter money. I've died enough that I'm finally getting better... o7
So it's finally a bit of a challenge 👍🏻
At 4:42, I was wondering if they actually made you pay for that.
Played the updated variant in the PTU. This is a welcome change and will improve players combat experience and encourage grouping.
That's what I was thinking during this video. He needs a gunner
that was my mistake.. either not identifying all the monitors or getting distracted fighting the infinite number of ships and then running out of time.
In 3.17.4 the missions to evict "Illegal claim jumpers" are similar. Tried one, took me 1 hr, destroyed about 30 of an endless wave of Prospectors, located 2 of the needed 9 or so turrets...nope...if they have endless respawning waves here too, this might be great times to go with 2-3 people and just pewpew away, though
This is actually just a fix. Contacts would spawn, but minutes after you completed the mission in old patches. Let's hope it works in 3.18
looks more fun to me. as long as you can find all three
Actually finding them now is whole lot easier.
huh? they were easy to find before, do you not know how to scan?
@@aydointergalacticcorporati698 3.17.4 sometimes one is missing
@@aydointergalacticcorporati698 there are bugs where one will be missing or certain monitors are extremely far away from the others (beyond scannable range).
@@_Booker_DeWitt yes, one was 1400km from the array :D
I like those missions, and this sounds awesome. Hopefully they all work with 3.18.
This looks like a good change. I'm looking forward to getting started in 3.18
3.18 has really made most of the missions in the game way more diverse and enjoyable
Things should be harder....I shouldn't be able to start the game and in a day or two of playing be able to purchase another ship. The play time needs to be longer for the game to last.
It already takes a lot of grind to buy any decent ship
Would prefer skill > grind
I've never completed a Monitor mission. And I've tried tons of times.
Gotta get used to finding them all before the timer is over I was the same when I was new.
@@llawlied6902 I did that. I just couldn't kill them before I caught a missile in the face.
@@Blackout5871 just press the button for flairs and pve missiles never hit
Flairs are ridiculous strong
Or rent an Andromeda if you are new easier to survive with a big ship
Seems like a common balancing issue that most games suffer from. Devs always seem to overdo any changes for some inexplicable reason. I agree with others that some tweaking was needed, the previous ones were way too easy. However, looking at the number of contacts that spawned in, yup, they've taken a balance fix and way overdone it. However, unless any feedback is given to them via the ticket system, I doubt they'll bother to change it before live.
