What a great idea for a video! The book came out great. I have paid for samples from a few illustrators before starting a project. It has helped me define more clearly what I want and like and also helped me narrow down the endless choices in Fivver.

@@ivyhang5084 Very good video, just a couple of questions, I don't know if it's possible that you can share them: when you ask each illustrator, of the 4 or 5 that you consulted, to send you a sketch of the illustration that you sent them described, how much does he charge you? each one (approximately) and I would also like to know, how much was the cost you paid for all the illustrations and front and back covers with the chosen illustrator. To have an idea of the budget you need to have. Thank you so much! I hope it's not awkward to share.
Great content and I do something similar as your template but I will say I like yours better and will tweak mine. I'm currently working with an illustrator and she appears to be adjusting well. I 'm in 2nd revisions and hopefully will be my final. I like the idea of hiring multiple illustrators for comparison purposes (thank goodness for a day job;lol). I was originally trying to design my own cover, interior, and AI illustrations but it just got to be too much with a full time job. Maybe once I retire I can take on more of the work. Thank you!!!

You would use this same approach here, but just paste in the illustrations you receive back from the illustrator to format your book on Canva. If you are looking for single spread instead or if you are getting them to illustrate multiple pages,then you would probably be able to negotiate a lower price per page. For the illustrator I hired to do my full book, the overall price at the time was $240 and that included 10 pages of illustrations + front and back cover. The only additional cost beyond that is tips at the end assuming you are satisfied with the work 😊. If you are serious about this, another tip which I forgot to mention in the video is- I would recommend also providing them with the kdp cover template and kdp trim and margin sizes upfront so they can help make sure no critical elements fall outside of margins etc. I didn’t do this initially and so had to do a little bit of light editing in canva to move a few things to within margins before publishing on kdp 😅. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while so, hiring an illustrator would probably be the best approach. Obviously I do use Ai etc, but for some things it's not so practical. That is fine as well, I live in Canada and put US as my main seller site. However, you can always put as UK as well. At the end of the day, it doesn't have a huge impact because your books are always published on all amazon sites across different countries anyways :)

I'm sorry to hear! Usually the issue is either you actually have insufficient margin (so make sure you check the margins against the KDP requirements depending on book trim size and whether you chose bleed or no bleed). If you have verified that, then the other common issue is that you have key graphic elements or text that is overlapping with the margin area. Make sure you check all your pages to confirm there are n key graphic elements or text that is beyond your margin area. If so, it usually works once you fix that. If that is not the issue, then I would recommend contacting KDP support directly to find out what is the issue so you can fix it accordingly. I hope you manage to resolve it soon so you can get your book published - all the best! :)

Hi - Can you advise whether we need to check with the fiverr seller whether I the buyer have all the copyright and commercial right of the images and characters that the illustrator is creating ? as eventually I am going to use the illustrations to publish a book or anything else , do I need to ensure the that the complete copyright and commercial right is mine or its already covered under the fiverr terms of use ?
Thanks for your question! You should definitely confirm to be sure although in most cases it is assumed. Also, some illustrators prefer you mention them on the book as the illustrator if it’s for a story book although most don’t specify this request based on my experience. Hi! I followed one of your videos to upload on kdp. I haven’t publish it yet tho. Because I see thin white line between pages. It is not printed yet. I saw it on the preview. Although I chose with bleed, i feel like it is gonna print with that line. I saw yours, it doesn’t have any white line. My file is formatted correctly. Do you think it would be okay ?
from your videos I see that it takes some time until you could make some decent earnings. So it wouldn´t make sense to set up a company in the beginning. Let´s say after 12 months the business starts to make good sales and you decide to set up an LLC. Would you be able to just change the data on amazon so you don´t need to set up a new account? Because I think the sales correspond to the history of your account and all the effort you put into it and if you start with a new account with the same books the books have no reviews etc What does your company structure look like and have you changed it over time?
That's a really good question, and in my case, I'm currently still operating as a sole proprietor for KDP but will eventually look into LLC set up. I do believe there is ability to change account name on KDP, but I think best to check with Amazon directly to confirm regarding this scenario. :)
Hello. I have been facing a problem recently in kdp that is my book has been blocked back to back two time. I don't know what's happening they didn't even give me any detail email just said that we won't be accepting your title anymore. How to solve that? What can I do?
I'm so sorry to hear. That's odd that they didn't provide any details in their email regarding what they want you to fix or why it was blocked. Did you publish more than 3 books a day? They also have a daily limit of 3 publications a day. I would recommend contact KDP support via their chat function to see if you can find out why your books got blocked. Hope you are able to resolve the issue -all the best!

If the white line is in between the pages (or spine area) then I would recommend fixing in canva and reloading just to be safe :)
