    This video is simply too detailed for a novice who is ready to learn picture books! Can you put out a video to explain how to arrange the rhythm of the storyboard of the whole picture book story? For example, I noticed that the text content and picture matching of the first two chapters of your picture book are very harmonious, and the transition between the big scene and the close-up of the protagonist is very smooth, and the rhythm is well grasped, how to learn this?🥰

    This has been the MOST helpful video I’ve found while beginning the process of illustrating my own children’s book. THANK YOU!
    Question - I was planning to create my illustrations in procreate using their generic CMYK color profile. Why do you opt to use RGB and then convert with photoshop after? Do you notice any color changes in the digital artwork vs the printed artwork using that process?
    Thanks again!

    • @hannatkachenko
      @hannatkachenko  21 день назад +1

      Wow, thank you, Jessica ❤️ I’m so happy to hear that! I tried working in their CMYK mode, but the colors turned out very strange, and when I later opened the file in Photoshop, they looked really "grayish." I couldn’t deliver something like that to my publisher.
      I found that converting the illustration to CMYK later and adjusting the vibrance settings works better for me. However, you should definitely try to find what works best for you!

So, I didn’t handle the printing process or anything else besides the illustrations. Unfortunately, I don’t have experience with self-publishing or printing, so I can’t provide specific info on that ❤️

    Hi,
    Thanks for your video. Can you please make a video on
    1-how to combine different final pages of the book into one final fine as a whole book to send to the publishers

      @hannatkachenko  6 месяцев назад

      I hope the video was helpful!
      If you work with a publisher, they normally won't require a dummy book or a final book setup, as they usually have an in-house editor responsible for this kind of work. At least, that is what I have learned and experienced myself 😊

    • @marziehsafaee9686
      @marziehsafaee9686 5 месяцев назад

      thank you so much Hanna❤️
      When setting the size of the page on procreate, as the pages would be spreads, you have to double the width of the final book, right?
      For example as your final book is 438mm in 256, when setting the size of the page in procreate, it would be 438mm in 512mm. Is that correct?
      I asked you to kindlymake a video about dummy since author illustrators need to make dummies to send to the agents or publishers.
      I appreciate your help.❤

      Thank you so much! I hope you will enjoy it :)
      The canvas size was 5173px x 3378px for a full spread at 300 DPI. The publisher will require different canvas setups for different book sizes. It always depends on the project. However, the publisher will give you the needed page information before you start the project.
      I would always recommend going with 300 DPI to ensure the best quality ❤️

    Hello, when converting to CMYK, do you do specific adjustments, or just convert the final file? Is it the compiled PDF or you do it on each illustrated page? I ask coz I also work full-time on Procreate (I have no computer). Thank you!

    • @hannatkachenko
      @hannatkachenko  9 месяцев назад +5

      I converted each page separately in Photoshop. I would merge all layers together, convert it to CMYK (8-bit channel), and then adjust the vibrance and color settings manually. I find this method works best for me! There are also online converters available, but I've never tried them. Additionally, if you're working with a publisher, they might be willing to handle the conversion on their end:)

      I saw this in a tutorial recently and it seems a canvas on Procreate can be switched to CMYK, but it needs to be done by creating a new canvas and adjusting it in the settings before starting on drawing. If a file has been set to RGB already though, I don't think it's convertible.

    • @hannatkachenko
      @hannatkachenko  4 месяца назад +1

      I’m glad you think so☺️
      It does allow it! When I started illustrating my first book in 2022, it wasn’t working so well, and when exporting the file as a PSD to Photoshop, the colors got all weird and completely different. The overall experience with color wasn’t that great. It’s possible they’ve fixed this problem by now. However, I feel like illustrating in CMYK and then converting to RGB gives you more color variation and vibrancy-but that’s just my feeling ☺️

    Another question: how you manage the amount of layers on procreate?

    • @hannatkachenko
      @hannatkachenko  2 месяца назад +1

      I struggle a lot with the limited number of layers in Procreate. But I try to place as many different objects on one layer as possible (as long as they don’t touch each other). I also combine layers as I go. I’ll often copy my artwork multiple times to keep all my steps and then merge layers in a new file.

    Hello, I want to print children book independently. Could you please tell me about the settings at the beginning of procreate. The size, resolution is 300, and the color is CMYK. After the drawing is completed, I want to put it into Adobe Indesign. I have tried converting it to PSD, JPEG, PNG and TIFF in procreate and sending it via email. Then opened it on my computer and put it into Indesign, but the resolution of the file will be lower than 300, the printing house told me it must be 300 resolution.
    I also want to know if there will be any color difference when the file is transferred from procreate to Indesign? How can this be checked?
    I would like to ask if there is a tutorial on the children book file production process from procreate to Indesign. I am willing to pay to learn from you. thank you!

    • @hannatkachenko
      @hannatkachenko  5 месяцев назад

      Hi!
      The canvas size should be as big as needed for printing. This means you should check with your printer. Be sure to include bleeding. The general rule is to go as big as you can. I would set your canvas resolution at 300 DPI.
      I don't have a very positive experience working in CMYK in Procreate, which is why I would recommend working in RGB and later converting to CMYK in Photoshop.
      Before exporting, you should check your exporting properties and ensure you export in the best quality possible. I am not really familiar with Adobe InDesign, but it should still look good there. I would recommend finding a RUclips video with an explanation of how to import the image.
      Yes, you can see some color differences between different software and displays, as they often run different color profiles. You should check your color profile in every program. Also, you can export a color profile with your image in Photoshop. As I am not an expert in color profiles, I would definitely recommend researching the topic if you struggle with export.
      I am sorry I couldnt be more helpful!
