    Hello, I want to print children book independently. Could you please tell me about the settings at the beginning of procreate. The size, resolution is 300, and the color is CMYK. After the drawing is completed, I want to put it into Adobe Indesign. I have tried converting it to PSD, JPEG, PNG and TIFF in procreate and sending it via email. Then opened it on my computer and put it into Indesign, but the resolution of the file will be lower than 300, the printing house told me it must be 300 resolution. I also want to know if there will be any color difference when the file is transferred from procreate to Indesign? How can this be checked? I would like to ask if there is a tutorial on the children book file production process from procreate to Indesign. I am willing to pay to learn from you. thank you!

    I absolutely loved being able to watch new videos from you everyday!! I love your work so much and could watch you draw forever. In one of the earlier videos you mentioned someone commenting about you rambling too much. I have never thought this and I think as English is not your first language you do so well explaining your process and I appreciate being able to hear what your thoughts are when you're coming up with ideas for your work. It is so much more engaging than just seeing someone paint. I watch your videos over and over and will continue to do so :)

    I love the entire challenge thing, I did something similar for my 5 days holiday. Asked a friend 5 themes, and I will draw based on those. Havent finished it tho, 3/5 of the themes i did complete and for someone that is a noob in drawing, I liked it and all the practice is what I need. For fitting in, I never really fit in groups. Used to be very introvert too, therefore I only hangout with individuals , but since the divorce of my parents and being mostly all alone after I felt I was missing something. I did search for friends to get that social background? Just to be with people around, but minding my own business. Now I have that more and more, I feel I can do things alone again. Anyway, love the videos, i will be a continual watcher, just to motivate myself to grab my tablet and start drawing

      These kinds of challenges can be a great thing! You can get a lot of practice, and they can also help you deal with burnout if you have one. I am happy to hear that you feel comfortable being alone. It's so important to be able to! I do enjoy being alone as well. I feel like my social battery is in the perfect state then. I really hope I could motivate you to start being creative again ❤️

    Hanna my heart goes out to you. 😕 Rejection is always so hard. Us artists we are very sensitive people and truth is part of what we are is in our art. So of course it hurts when things like these happen. I’m a profesional children’s book illustrator, have worked on many books with different publishers even the big ones and let me tell you I too have been rejected at times. It’s just part of the industry. I’ve also noticed that illustration agencies are getting larger and and larger by the minute and the art style of the artists they represent is kind of similar with an exception here and there. I’m not saying that’s good or bad I’m just saying they stick to clients who lean towards those type of illustrations and is easier for them to sell those so those are the artists they want to represent. If you want my advice I would say always keep creating and growing as an artist. Don’t let things like these bring you down. Don’t change your style to fit others this doesn’t mean you can’t tweak certain things but the essence of your style please try to maintain it. You will find someone who will fall in love with it and want to represent you. It will might take time but you want someone who believes in your work and appreciates it. Try other agencies and if you can find smaller ones even better. If you have your heart set up on illustrating only books then I suggest you try to find a literary agency that also reps illustrators instead of an illustration agency. They are smaller and have artists with much diverse kind of styles. I hope this helps a little but please keep creating. Don’t let this stop you because we all have been there. Hugs, Alicia.

    Please tell me how to set the canvas size and resolution, thank you! Will you convert the file and color in Adobe before sending it for printing?

    • @hannatkachenko
      @hannatkachenko 8 дней назад

      If you're unsure about which proportions to use, I would recommend starting with some small thumbnails to find the composition you like best (for example, horizontal or square). Then, I typically resize my canvas accordingly, aiming for around 50 layers (adjust as needed based on your comfort level). Before creating your canvas, be sure to set the resolution to 300 DPI. If I plan to print my artwork, then yes, I would go to Photoshop, merge the layers, convert to CMYK, and correct the color/contrast if needed before sending it to print :)

    Its hard understand what these people want. Cause, honestly theres a bunch of styles who could be called "ugly" or too simple. We look and think " how this person has payed and get published and me dont?" Haha. I know this can be mean, but is a real feeling i pass through. But i have a problem on drawing people or urvan real life places, i usually draw fantasy, maibe that gap is the problem for us.

    I wonder if the publisher provided information about the size of pages that won't be trimmed or that's something you need to consult with printing company or there's different approach?

    • @hannatkachenko
      @hannatkachenko 29 дней назад

      If you work with a publisher, they will send you all of the needed information. My publisher gave me the information about the page size and the bleed. Also, upon my request, I received a layout as a PDF file, which was really helpful. I would definitely recommend not being shy and just asking for anything you need.

    Maybe those agencies don't represent your kind of work but it's not that it's not out there , there are so many books with such artstyles and the elf book really liked it . Maybe try more agencies . Some publishers stick to the very classical storybook feel. Me too hoping to get into it 🙏. I hope you too get where you want.

    Hey lovely, your work is really stunning, I love those unicorns. I work in more surface design, not children's books, but a creative director told me that sometimes they wont take more than one person for a particular style or look because they don't want them to compete within the agency/ studio. So it could be that they feel like they have their bases covered with someone who does something similar to you already. Unfortunately then it's kind of like who got in first situation. I once got rejected from an illustration agency when I was first starting and they did give a list of 5 reasons of what could have been the reason for rejection which I found super helpful and helped me to evaluate my work from a different perspective and I realised that as good as I thought it was, it wasn't on par with the other artists they had. That was hard to come to terms with but ultimately really helpful in my journey of improving for a commercial market. Keep going and don't give up, definitely apply at other agencies as you are sure to resonate with someone! :)

    • @hannatkachenko
      @hannatkachenko 29 дней назад

      Thank you, Katie, for sharing your experience! I also work in surface and print design, but without an agency. It is perfectly okay to be rejected in any field. As I said, rejection is part of the journey. I will definitely be looking more into agencies :)

    That book is beautiful I need to buy it! ❤ Also, I was wondering, can you tell me the measurements of your procreate and photoshop canvas? And the DPI? What size of canvas/file does the publisher require for the ultimate high quality of your book? 🙏🏻

    • @hannatkachenko
      @hannatkachenko 29 дней назад

      Thank you so much! I hope you will enjoy it :) The canvas size was 5173px x 3378px for a full spread at 300 DPI. The publisher will require different canvas setups for different book sizes. It always depends on the project. However, the publisher will give you the needed page information before you start the project. I would always recommend going with 300 DPI to ensure the best quality ❤️

    Hi, Thanks for your video. Can you please make a video on 1-how to combine different final pages of the book into one final fine as a whole book to send to the publishers 2-how to make a picture book dummy on procreate step by step focusing on size and format Thanks

    • @hannatkachenko
      @hannatkachenko 29 дней назад

      I hope the video was helpful! If you work with a publisher, they normally won't require a dummy book or a final book setup, as they usually have an in-house editor responsible for this kind of work. At least, that is what I have learned and experienced myself 😊
