Send him a Boden metal NX 8 with Fishman's, & it'll out chug everything. I seriously LOVE mine. Thank you Ola, for everything you do man SERIOUSLY. I've been waiting literally my entire life for something like the Boden to come along. I keep comparing it to a supercar haha. Like for example, when someone says "headless = ugly" I say: when you see a car like a saleen or a Boss mustang, yeah its fast as hell but unless you know what a saleen actually is, it looks EXACTLY the same as a regular V6 slow poke mustang, which is essentially a Camry with a cooler body (& just hardly lol). It takes a trained eye to know that if its a boss/saleen/cobra mustang that it's not normal. However when you see a Ferrari, you know RIGHT AWAY that this is something different. Every single inch of it is designed to be the best most ideal piece for what it does, regardless of look. Beauty is an afterthought to engineerin, and there is no expense spared they don't do things to save money, only to produce a great result. And as a result you get a world class car. Well, fenders and Gibsons are like the mustang, the untrained eye will see zero difference between a $200 squire & a $5000 Suhr, but when you see a .Strandberg*? You know "it's a lambo" right away, because that's how it's been designed, to work great. Not to mention, it literally contains aerospace materials just like a super car (aircraft aluminum & carbon fiber.) And usually when I say that, they catch on pretty quick that it's not just a gimmick guitar. I've done years of sales jobs so making points like this is pretty natural to me, especially when it's about something I so highly believe in myself. (I love the entire philosophy of the company, trying to be sustainable and prove that crazy unsustainable tone woods are not worth it, just a "unicorn hair" for the owner.) I like Ola's comparison to Apple as well, since they're another one of my favorites. It's ALWAYS worth the extra money for the nice stuff. Otherwise you spend 4x in the long run. there's a reason that in the computer world, you can either "get an apple or a PC." Even though the term PC just encompasses every other company besides apple. Part of it is compatability, apple kinda went their own direction and made it so there needs to be at least 2 versions of every software, but the reason they were still successful after saying sure compatibility is because they created SUCH a better product that it was still worth it. A similar learning curve to getting used to an Endurneck profile. But just like apple, once you convert you realize it's FAR superior. My hope is that .Strandberg* does just like apple and takes over the game, since they're the original main innovator in their category just like apple, and then hopefully at some point I can somehow become a part of the game here on the US team. And there's seriously no company I believe in & believe should be on top of the world more than .Strandberg* Guitars, game changers deserve recognition. And being part of a game changing company is what I've wanted to do my entire life, something I can REALLY live for and not feel wasted. So, get on that expansion @Ola Strandberg, so I can get in on the game! What you're doing is very important, thank you! Companies that push the bar forward in every way are an essential part of global commerce, the guitar industry has been stagnant for a long time. Modern metal, Neo soul, and progressive multi scale stuff is finally moving it forward again. But, we need equipment that can keep up with the rate of improvement! What I like of this review is the comments about the playability of the instrument and the feeling it has. About the segment, I think that there should be a standard rig, gear or EQ to have a point of reference to compare things. It would be less fun, I admit it, but a no-name guitar with average pups through a dual rectifier will definitely sound better than this. There could be a beginner rig and an initiated rig for instance. The same can apply for the amps with a standard rig of a guitar and pedal loop chain. Maybe I overthink this.
There are cheaper models like mine... the standard series that I would not change with the Ibanez even though Ibanez is cheaper and has great pickups. The Strandberg original lacks in the pickup domain. I changed them. If they had Duncan solar I wouldn't :)
I think the only thing Strandberg have left to innovate are the bridge, electronics and future body shapes. Anderson guitars do wild things with designing their pickups. But hopefully a fanned fret evertune tremolo is somewhere in the future with 4.5" single and humbucker rail pickups for slanted multiscale fretboards.
Do heavy strings chug? I put 12 through 62's on a telecaster loaded with EMG 81. Tuned to E standard and it doesn't chug anymore. I guess the ability to pick the strings sharp is part of the chug.
