    With arthritis in my left arm and being a right handed player I was barely playing anymore, until I bought my Boden. I've gone from the odd 20 minute session to playing for up to an hour.

      dammit ... again ... i may never play again cus of lost my hearing and had such horrible physical pains get tin the way and i could have used this guitar so much.. motehfffff..
      maybe i should sell the rest of my guitars and hope my ears can recover before i die if htey can or that my body could handle the pains id have had the will to push through that for the music. i needed to move also from this sh apartment so i could actually make noise. prob am gonna die before i get a chance. oh well. sorry im being a bummer i dont care too much though. lol. people dont know.. people dont care. im not a drama queen or someone that exaggerates but i didnt have any options left. people arent built to really care unless its like a specific sutiation where theyre close to you already. i wish life was more mathematically fair, but its not at all. some people just get royally screwed and it never ends.

I empathise with you deeply and would love to be able to give you some answers but it’s probably out of my control. Though i'm not much into headless guitars, I see their rise of popularity as a very good sign for the guitar industry. Improvements of this instrument has been hold back for SO LONG because of some kind of snobish culture among guitar players (you know, that "I don't care about modern stuff, I want exactly what Jimmy Page was using in 1962!").
    But now, finally, we get to see a solid bunch of evolutions. New neck shapes, more ergonomic body shapes, fanned and true temperament frets, new fretboard radiuses, improved tuning tech, new bridges system (hello Evertune)… Definitely a good path imo.

    • @JackTaylorGuitars
      @JackTaylorGuitars  Год назад +3

      You’re totally right again my dude, 100%! Guitar is so routed in tradition that it’s hard for any real innovation to take off. To me Strandberg are really at the forefront of making the electric guitar something more than it’s been for decades and that’s definitely the right path. There’s space for modern and traditional but having the option is what really matters! Thanks again bro 🤘

With injuries like mine from BJJ it’s probably not going to go away so if I can prolong my playing then it’s worth thinking about. Thanks for checking out the video mate, I do appreciate it.

    Jack, I want to say thank you for the awesome Strandberg videos. After watching them and trying one out, I pulled the trigger, traded in 5 of my axes and brought home a lefty Boden NX6T in Glacier Burst. It's the most comfortable guitar I've ever played and Strandberg OEM pickups are better than I expected, I planned to swap them out but I'm not sure now.

    Thank you for this video (and another one you made about Strandberg guitars). I have just ordered one Prog , my second and certainly last electric guitar, given my age and the price it cost... Since I learned to play, I've always wanted a lighter guitar than the one I had bought, because I found it so heavy, even sitting it's unpleasant. And these guitars are also incredibly beautiful (to my taste). So, I'll receive it next Monday... I hope I'll be as stunned as you are!

    The only thing that I don't like has been changed in the NX models. There isn't a deep enough forearm contour, but a sweat band on my forearm is good enough. The NX has a deeper contour and a better neck joint than the OS ones.

    dude, I bought the same guitar around new year and really tried to go with the suhrs, but I couldn't after just a week.
    I am typically a passive guy cuz the chugs sound a certain way through metal amps (spec. 5150), but these Suhrs were too soft on the attack for me (maybe that's just my set). Since I knew that I loved the immediacy and almost HD-feel of the Fishman Fluence Moderns, I went with those and I am super happy that I did!
    I have the passive sound as default and pull on volume for active sound. Now add in a push-pull tone knob for coil splitting and you have a versatile beast! I also replaced the 5-way for a 3-way. Love that config for the studio and the default passive humbucking setting is just what I wanted for a typical metal feel.
    I can definitely reccommend this config!
    Also - super happy that the Strandy makes you play more! Same goes for me. It's just so handy to bring almost everywhere either in the house or elsewhere. Strandy + Wireless + Spark Go = winning mobility combo! (Spark Go is also a great headphone amp!)

    I had to comment. I liked and subscribed, btw, cuz your playing is great. Thoughtful, not mindless speed, nice phrasing, etc.
    The reason I wanted to comment though is because I am a 55 year old who has been tinkering with guitar for about 45 years now and the Strandberg Boden Prog NX 6 is of great interest to me. As I type this I'm 7 weeks post surgical from having both carpal tunnel release and CMC arthroplasty on the right thumb. I already had my left hand carpal tunnel AND cubital tunnel surgery about 5 years ago. I am seriously interested in the ergonomics of this guitar. The funny thing though is that I'm much more of a Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, or other Texas blues type of player.
    I'd like to hear how you feel about this axe after owning it for a while.
    Would you possibly do a 'Flashback' episode after a year or so? It would be really cool to hear how your hands have responded to the guitar over a bit of time.

I still have some problems that I’m working on with resistance band exercises but it’s nowhere near the level it was. Are there advantages to the headless design? - because i just can't get with the aesthetics of it. Maybe in 20 years that'll be the norm and headstocks will look archaic - but for me, the aesthetics of a guitar are important.

    • @JackTaylorGuitars
      @JackTaylorGuitars  9 месяцев назад +1

      I don't know if it'll ever be the norm but I do think it's a nice option to have. Looked at exact that models more than ones, only because headless with H-H configuration and a tremolo is so damn hard to find. 😕 But! The EndurNeck! I just don't like it. It feels like my left hand gets forced into positions i don't want it to be in. Something ergonomic should be flexible and able to fit different types of users, but i find the EndureNeck more limiting and crippling than a normal neck. A c-shape neck allows the hand to be positioned in any way possible and is more ergonomic in that sense than a Strandberg. The rest of the guitar is great, but i'm still hoping Ibanez will release a Q-series with a tremolo.
    Glad to see it works for you though. 🙂

      Absolutely no issues on this guitar dude, thankfully! My 7 string has the *ping* but it had that when I got it used. Either way, a ping that I can't hear when I'm playing amped up and doesn't cause any playing problems isn't an issue for me personally. Cheers for watching mate! 🤘

    • @joeking433
      @joeking433 4 месяца назад +1

      @@JackTaylorGuitars For many people sanding down the zero fret every time they change strings is the solution. However, it would seem to me that you would start getting a buzz after a sanding or two. Strandberg should make replacing the zero fret easy and offer cheap replacement zero frets but they might see that as admitting guilt. Gibson and Kiesel saw the error of their ways and quit putting zero frets on their guitars after a year or two experiment with them. Crazy that Ola would go with something so stupid as a zero fret when the rest of the guitar is a tech marvel!
      As far as the pinging, that is not the real problem. The real problem is the string will buzz after a while or even not play open.
      If you look at the new $1000 Strandberg Essential they went back to a regular nut (and no fan frets!). I'll be getting one of those!

      @@JackTaylorGuitars I watched closely to make sure, and there are no bends in the playing bit. You mention bending in passing later on, but most "prog-ey" folks don't really bend these days and that's who the Strandberg is aimed at. I play with a thumb over the fretboard and bending is very natural that way. I'm contemplating getting one, which is why I'm curious how heavy bending works out on these necks.

    • @JackTaylorGuitars
      @JackTaylorGuitars  Год назад +1

      There’s absolutely a bend at the end of the demo mate, for sure! If you play thumb over, you can still do that on this guitar. Plini plays like that a lot. But the cool thing about the endurneck is your thumb will rest nicely on the top surface for more purchase when bending. It’s cool man, I like it a lot! I was thinking about making an in depth video about the endurneck in the future. If I do I’ll demonstrate what I mean then 👍
