I have in fact enjoyed a dish with courgette and red pepper made for me by a woman from Naples, just a propos of a comment I just saw. Correct, from courg meaning marrow, which is what one is. The French gave the English most of their culinary terms so we'll stick with courgette when speaking the King's. Incidentally though, the Dutch also call it a courgette.
