    Oregon would like to claim to this as Oregon Myrtle Wood..
    California Bay Laurel is its proper name.

      I lived in California Bay Laurel country for 40 plus years. I now live (25 years) in Oregon in California Bay Laurel country.
      You make fine ukes, to include the California Bay Laurel models : )
      PS I was a wood hustler for many years supplying instrument makers with high quality species such as pernambuco,
      coco bolo, various rosewoods , western big leaf maple, and got Craig Carter (RIP) started in his redwood venture.

      @@beansproutmusicalinstruments Looking at that article got me thinking... apparently Umbellularia (or whatever state based name it is called ;) ) is quite close to Avocado... ever tried that particular orchard wood?
