The cars just sound so crap in comparison to nitro cars of the 80's. What have they done to them to make them sound like that! that swisshing sound? Whers the crackle and the dry hps, Bap!,Bap, Bap, creaping into stage. Very littel excitement like there used to be. Some of the engines still look good though.
The rear distributer engines ( 392 - 417 ) always sound better in my opinion , but have missed out on any serious development for the past 35 years or more. I would love to go back in time ( 1959 - 1963 )and sit in on a Monday morning meetings with the Chrysler execs passing around the weekend drag racing results showing front engine hemi engines . The engine design that they just canned smashing everything else.
A lot of FA's are in fact 125" funnycar chassis.. Our owner/driver ran a Plueger chassis that held national record for a long time (in drag racing time)... We also ran a flopper body on the thing depending on what match race we were running..
One of the best altered videos I have seen. The most badass machines in the world. God bless you brothers
