The likes of the King had to put food on the table, pay for new tires and everything else, back then. Kids like Larson, Kayne, etc immediately were millionaires after signing their first Nascar cup contract.
Athletes are defined by how they are able to come back from injury. Michael Jordan had an ankle injury very early in his career -made him a much better athlete later. Richard Petty is one tough Dude.
@@johnsmith-mk3zq I don't know where to start.I only drove local dirt track. The wear and tear on the body and mind that these guys endure is incredible.Don't comment on a subject you know nothing about.
Worked an ASA race on a short track when his grandson Adam was running the ASA late models……….one time Adam brought the car in the pits during practice and the crew comes up to check the tires and make adjustments...….and here comes Richard no hat and no sunglasses working away on the jack getting the car up in the air...….
The drivers back then are way more skilled then today by far they were tuffer better sportsmanship and the cars were real cars not designed on a computer
That Could be it, but I heard a story from someone once that Petty always ran a "Clean Car" (no alcohol or tobacco sponsorship's). Though I suppose if it was during the Winston days, he'd have to have a Winston Sticker on the car somewhere
Gameview boy Good luck in the future on your racing career. If you have the work ethic and determination I am sure you can make it.Good luck my young friend.
"Your body can only hurt at one place at a time". That's just dumb. How about he stub his toe and have a bad toothache and say that but his crashes through the years might have concussed his brain and damaged his nerves to where he believes that.
LEGEND ALERT LEGEND ALERT
Richard Petty GOD bless you, you sold Super Bird parts to my father back in the late 70s!
click the 'thumbs up' if you want graham to make playlists for each person
+one in a million there is an has always been one
William Song I
How do you just casually mention that your neck is broke after crashing at 185-200mph?!
Mr. Petty you beast tho
@Tristan Ellis Gaming I’d be way too scared to talk about it casually at that speed it’s a miracle he’s alive
Such a sweet man!! 🙏🏾❤️
Graham is looking at him with a mix of admiration and an underlying, "this man is freakin' nuts!".
If drivers of today had even half the injuries Petty sustained during his heyday, they would've retired already.
Jason Heavner you’re spot on brother these drivers nowadays would cry over a papercut
The likes of the King had to put food on the table, pay for new tires and everything else, back then. Kids like Larson, Kayne, etc immediately were millionaires after signing their first Nascar cup contract.
My brother in law and his dad were the biggest petty fan in the world.i miss you guy Sr dave
Sounds like a king amongst men too

No comparison.

Richard Petty is great. He gave money to Wendell Scott to help him race
He also said even with his factory sponsorship that Wendell Scott was only just a little slower
The King
He also left engines and stuff there and pretended that he had forgotten it
No Richard is a racist hes white and from the south lmao that's what the media says about everybody from the south
@@slabbusterrtr7690 n u believe it
Has anyone seen petty's eyes lol. Everytime hes on camera he has sunglasses
We are not worthy
Check the richard pettys final lap video around Atlanta 1992.
I think kyle had a Xmas photo of the Petty’s this last Xmas and he had no hat or glasses and a polo. Was wild! lol
Dont think they exist
@@RUclipsCensorsAndSuppresses on that note I'm gonna take a bong hit
The King 🤴
I like how Richard says "Okay" 😮
Thanks either way though.
And people said Earnhardt was the toughest SOB in Nascar
Earnhardt Sr. raced injured with broken bones multiple times too.
He was. He's the only guy tougher than the King
How the Lord has taken care of this man all these decades is amazing. Some people get in a car to go to work and never come home.
Tuff as nails, good ole’ boy!!
Nikki lauda was tougher
Thats bein country brother!
I think I just realized, I've never seen Richard Petty without sunglasses on, hell or without that hat.

jacopman wow! thats crazy! cool story!
@@jacopman that's awsome man,just shows what a King Mr. Petty was.Thanks!
The blurred out sponsor is Pepsi for those wondering.
Kyle Bush “I got a wittle boo boo on my head. Richard Petty “Suck it up buttercup I’ve had zipper cuts worse than that”
The drivers back then are way more skilled then today by far they were tuffer better sportsmanship and the cars were real cars not designed on a computer
Why in 2019 he looks like a cowboy and then back in the day he looks like a young racer
Hmmmmmm idk
Dolph1nsI23 Cause he's from the South!
Look up cool in the dic. Picture of the King.Mr. Richard Petty.
I'm sure, I'm not the only person to ask this, but why is one of the Decals on petty's car censored? The one behind Graham
B.C. Cotnoir could be a tobacco sponsor
That Could be it, but I heard a story from someone once that Petty always ran a "Clean Car" (no alcohol or tobacco sponsorship's). Though I suppose if it was during the Winston days, he'd have to have a Winston Sticker on the car somewhere
It's a Pepsi sticker
Thank you :)
Probably... But he can do whatever he wants 😊
Ur my favorite racer and I'm 13 my dream of to be a NASCAR driver/racer old school power
Gameview boy Good luck in the future on your racing career. If you have the work ethic and determination I am sure you can make it.Good luck my young friend.
How i see it, is that racecar will tear itself apart and keep trying forward at the tilt of my foot, on my whim. As a driver. Who am i to complain?
Motorcycle racer broke his neck and wanted to continue, dont racer motorcyclists need their neck? lol
race drivers got hurt more than astronauts
Not correct that the body can only hurt "one place at a time". Have had enough injuries to know.
He's the Greatest race driver of all time period.😂
600 likes! ☺
I'm not trying to be mean but Richard pettys mustache looks like Adolf hitter mustache
He explained how many concussion just like travis pastrana did. How do you really know.
