Wow, that's a perfect autobiographical talk right there. Industry should be offering her large-conference closing keynote slots with commensurate honorariums. Go Jeri!
@6:30 OMG... those are fond memories for me too. When my parents would go to K*Mart back in the days I was saving up mowing yards for my C=64, I would go to the TI99/4A's, VIC-20's, Atari 400's... and just program in BASIC until they came around to drag me out. Good times.
Jeri is such an impressive person. I got the fortune of meeting her at Quartzfest. She is as intelligent and engaging in person as she is on other mediums.
Jeri’s story is awesome. I started out the same way in early grade school. Mowing lawns paid for my am transmitter in 5th grade. Still in electronics 55 years later. Jeri went further. Proud of her success.
You guys are really smart. I am only 4 years her junior, but I also had one of those electronics kits but didn't understand it. Sometimes I feel like there's an inverse correlation between being entertained and being able to do these things.
The hidden picture is of Commodore legend Jim Butterfield and C64DTV software developer Adrian Gonzalez enjoying a couple beers at a Commodore event around Chicago (the predecessor to the VCFMW show) in the early 2000s :)
Loved her anecdotes and ability to connect to all us old nerds. :) Jeri is an amazing person. So happy that all the computers she destroyed resulted in her contributing something that is cherished by so many retro computer enthusiasts. Her being a female is also a very awesome role model for young girls who otherwise might not pursue nerdy things, such as science, electronics and engineering. The world is a better place because of Jeri.
Terrific story ! Thanks a lot for sharing this! Very inspiring really and with a great sense of humor! I'm so glad this product had not been dropped and they made it. This is really great!
This is so awesome! I loved the idea so much when it was first released. I somehow missed the memo that Jeri was at it again. I'm very glad she's working on it!
Nice presentation. BTW, I still have the DTV64 hacked as a C64 with keyboard and port for disk drive. It was a fun project. 10 years ago I made a video about it showing it loading game from real disk drive.
Same here. I bought a project case for it from the now-shuttered Fry's in Fremont, CA. It was one of several that was showcased on David Murray's (also now-defunct) DTV web page. Jeri rocks.
it on my list on thinks todo, only with flash/SD card drive emulator, did a hacked DTV 64 have USB, or more storage options than just adding classic c64 floppy drive
I was the same. Took all my toys apart and made them into other things. One of my favs was turning a boring single channel r/c car into a remote control firework 🧨 lighter offer. Replacing the car motor with a relay and connecting a 9v and some nichrome wire to the relay. U push the button on the remote and kaboom 💥
VIC-20 was my first home computer .. good thing your dad didn't fall for that and got the C64 instead.. The VIC manuals really are an awesome introduction though .. what could be friendlier that a smiling anthropomorphic keyboard?
I am still anxiously waiting for VCF to hit Florida !!! I do not believe there is a single vintage computer museum in the entire state. I have a nice collection of vintage computers and video game systems that I would love to display, but there is literally no place to do that here in Florida. Even with NASA and IBM being a big part of Florida.
@@vcfederation Keep me up to date. We could really use a Computer Museum someone here in Florida. I have always thought that St. Augustine would be a good place for a small vintage computer and video game system would be nice. There are a lot of tourist that walk downtown just about every day looking for something fun to do or interesting to see.
Racing Cars ⁉I had NO idea. Jeri is a true polymath. Good at everything she commits to do. And she kicks ass in every conceivable way an artist and engineer like Jeri possibly could. 👍And I remember castAR, cool to know she's the one behind that company.
Real treat that again illustrate the requirement for a long learning curve , wide and deep knowledge base, focus on launch market and then once there is traction access to credit lines ( ideally from production partners ) to scale - all the best and the journey and overcoming hurdles is the big deal and seldom the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow as that is where the hyenas hang out.

Well, there are so many touch points in Jeri’s presentation that I can relate to. I had the same crummy Radio Shack soldering irons. But she was much braver or something than I was. I never used an AC cord and wire wound resistor to solder. 😂
Wow, I have wondered where and what Jeri has been up to? 😎 Thank you cool Jeri. PS When I was a kid, taking things apart was interesting. Then came Heathkits. 🥳
The TI-99/4A was the first 16bit personal computer years before the IBM company brought out a home computer and anyway the TMS9900 should have had a 24Bit Address Bus and a 16Bit Data Bus but was not to be but if it had it would have taken off like wildfire.
Wow, that's a perfect autobiographical talk right there. Industry should be offering her large-conference closing keynote slots with commensurate honorariums. Go Jeri!
Yes. A very good story.
Sounds like being in any way part of Jeri's life is a wild ride. What an amazing person.
She truly is amazing!
Nice presentation Jeri. 🙂
@terryraymond7984: She's glad that you liked it!
This is so great. Jeri is a legend. That Mr. Bojangles reference unlocked a core memory. ROFL at shoving forks into the C64 cartridge port!
Kids do the darndest things!

Lots of fun memories of "back in the day"!
I've read this story before but it's fantastic to hear it told in Jeri's own voice. A national treasure
She is a wonderful story teller!
such a heart-warming and inspirational talk. brought back so many memories of my own childhood listening to it.
Yes. A great talk!
Jeri is such an impressive person. I got the fortune of meeting her at Quartzfest. She is as intelligent and engaging in person as she is on other mediums.
Yes. I love when she talks. Very entertaining!
Indeed. Someone should start a fundraiser to have a documentary made about her life. Truly a self-made inspiration.

@@vcfederation The hidden picture in the C64DTV that Jeri mentioned in the talk somewhere around 40-45 minutes in.

Couldn't agree more!
Amazing to hear this legend tell the story of her incredible journey!
Yes. Very exciting to hear her story!
Jeri's father deserves father of the decade award.
@networkg: Her father was indeed very patient.
That is am impressive presentation. Definitely worth watching.
We agree whole-heartedly! Lots of people like this video.

She is really a great storyteller!
This has been such a fantastic talk. Thank you for your passion and sharing it with us all
She is a great speaker with a great story!
Oh, this is wonderful - I already knew about a third of this stuff - but I had no idea Jeri was also a freaking Rocket Scientist.
She really has an amazing life story!
10 years ago watched her first video n fall in love with her😍😊😊😊😊
Yes! Still a great speaker and person and more story to tell 10 years later! Come see her at VCF West on Aug. 4, 2023!
Great talk, Jeri is super-cool, and people still only starting to scratch the surface of what's possible with the Tilt5 glasses.
Yes. She is a super cool person and speaker. She will be at VCF West this coming August 4, 2023.
Great story, lot's of parallels!
It seems that others have parallels to her story!
What an interesting person. Great talk.
We're glad that you liked our video!
Jeri! So great to see you again!
It's always great to see her again!
What a great life story. I did not expect the race car stuff but that was awesome stuff as well!
Many smart people like her have a varied life history!
I’m in love!❤❤❤
As are many people!
Wow.
First thing I said/thought. The rest would fill a book.
Thank you.
Very cool!
Jeri’s story mirrors my own as a child including the old Weller solder gun.
It seems that it mirrors a lot of people!
This is so awesome! I loved the idea so much when it was first released. I somehow missed the memo that Jeri was at it again. I'm very glad she's working on it!

As a kid I loved taking apart my toys, seeing how they worked, fixing them, and dreaming of improvements to their designs.
Cool! Very much like Jeri.
A great talk by one of my inspirations, and a Fran-tastically fascinating entrepreneurship story :)

She is incredibly smart and always so cute and humble 😺
Agreed!
I LOVE C64 ❤️❤❤ FOREVER ❤❤❤
We do too!
she's got the best glasses!! just not enough developers! every white collar office should have some! good luck!

Yep!
I tried looking up her RUclips channel, realized I already was subscribed from when I looked up magnetic loop antennas.
Yeah. She had mentioned in the roundtable that she hasn't posted there in a while and that she had to be careful what she posted these days.

The One and Only Jeri Ellsworth.
Absolutely! A very unique individual!
Sadly I missed the event in Richardson.
Jeri Ellsworth is someone I’d love the chance to meet. I’m a fan of Jeri.
Well you can have another chance to meet her at VCF West on August 4 & 5!

Not in a weirdo way. Hate to have to say that!
Wow. Thanks! So many parallels to my life but without the success 😂 so for now i need to write for my living.

If she comes to vcf midwest I may have a chance to see her. She has a great way of storytelling. These stories really mesh with my own history.

16 minutes in, and this sounds a lot like my childhood.
LOL!
I cut my electronics teeth on the Archer 150-in-One kit. I still pull it out once in a while and build a circuit or two.
Very cool!
So amazing!

From experience, I can say that the "finger debugger" is not a good tool for TV diagnosis.
LOL! Yeah, doesn't sound very safe!
I have a dedicated Computer room only 2 Commodores.
@terryraymond7984: So you need more Commodores!
very lucky to have mentors.. none for most.. plus being a fellah, you get an entire life of being fobbed off. but you - well done girl, love your work
Yes. It is nice to have a mentor!
What's your favorite game?
@scottholmes4388: Jeri loves pinball!
Can't see the slides in the first few minutes unfortunately.
OK. Maybe we can get her slides and put a link here.
Some really familiar origin stories to all electronics nerds out there. 😅
Yeah. Great story. Unique story. Entertaining story.
gee how many time is she gonna tell her story
As many times as she wants. As long as people keep listening, she will keep telling her story!
Computers still a big investment, a decent PC costs around the same as a used car :-D
Yeah. Still pretty expensive relatively.
Cheer up Jeri. That’s the saddest YT thumbnail I’ve ever seen.
That's just her personality: down-to-earth and calm.
Ah, a new thumbnail. That the Jeri we know.
#JeriEllsworth why don't you purchase VALVE Corp.
You should come ask her yourself at VCF West on August 4 & 5!
My curiosity brought on the wrath of my siblings - I took everyone’s toys apart to understand how they worked.

Nope!
Yeah I dont like Greyhound either horrible
