Jk
Sonic mania is mainline
It's not a spinoff after classic Sonic defeats Dr EGGMAN and the hard boiled heavys the phantom ruby sends classic Sonic to Sonic forces and you said it was mainline
Sorry I am spoiling you
To answer the question of how to play through the game, you do have to complete all six characters’ stories to get to the true ending. After playing through Sonic’s story (which is the longest story btw), you can play any of the other stories in any order you want. Once all of their stories are completed, a final story will be available to play. Glad you’re enjoying the game so far!
Sonic Mania is not a spin-off, it's a mainline entry. But I love that you did research to make your SADX experience better.
Debatable plus it doesn't matter
The fact you went out of your way to optimally play SADX made me super happy, you earned a subscriber‼️
Yeah I wanted to play the game with the dreamcast models on PC. So I followed some guides that I found :)
@@Sleengoif you ever play silent hill you should play the enhanced edition of those games too on PC. AS those games were simarly butchered on ps3 with the HD collection.
@@Sleengo I'd have recommended using the DX models with the textures that remove the gloss.
Cus the DX models look far more like Uekawa's artwork for Sonic Adventure than the Dreamcast models.
Here are a couple of mod suggestions:
Fixes Adds & Beta Restores: Fixes bugs, adds stuff, and restores cut content
Better Tails AI: Gives Tails a better AI
Tweaked Cutscenes: Fixes awkward timing and edits lip syncing for cutscenes
HUD Plus: adds score counter to HUD
Chao Gameplay: let’s you take your Chao out of the Garden
Here are a couple of tips: Animals are used to give to Chao in order to boost their stats. This game has a LOT of important lore, especially for Knuckles. Spin Dash is spammable, use this to gain more momentum. There are 3 secret Chao eggs in the 3 adventure fields, take them to the Chao Garden to hatch rare Chao! (You already found the silver egg in the Mystic Ruins)
Hope I was able to help in some way
I might install the Better Tails AI mod after what I've seen in my second recording session.
the part where sonic was flying around in the pinball machine was a reference to nights into dreams, which was sonic team's main project on the sega saturn, instead of a new sonic game
Oh that's fun fact!
@@SleengoAnd if you’re interested in more, NiGHTS Into Dreams is also on Steam
@@SleengoNiGHTS is also a great game to play!! There was also a sequel on the Wii
Ooooh I love watching people sorta "discover" Sonic and his games! My biggest word of advice is to go into each game with an open mind and try to disconnect yourself from whatever you may have heard about them! Don't let the opinions of others or even people in the comments sway you- you might enjoy a game that was previously thought to be bad!
Agreed. the Sonic fans (not all of them )could being maybe rough .i recommended listen the soundtracks of the franchise.
I was love the intro when i was little always put the intro and singing the songs❤ greetings a nice fan Sonic fan from argentina 😊
Holy crap, you actually installed the mod that makes the game like its original. That's called dedication, man!
I've heard people saying that the GameCube and original PC ports were worse than the original so I wanted to fix that.
@@Sleengo they are indeed worse, but the fact that you went out of your way to fix that is really respectable! Just now, Video Game Dunkey roasted the game and most of his criticism was due to these ports.
To set expectations, Sonic's story is easily the longest and most fleshed out. Treat the other stories more like fun side adventures
fun fact: this game was originally supposed to be an RPG or at least they wanted to make a sonic rpg, that's why there's so many people you can talk to
13:51 That's the Chao Garden, it's a place where you can take care of your Chao, there is a garden per hub in Sonic Adventure 1 and even though they only appear in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2, they became Fan favorite features for Sonic Fans, although Chao keep appearing in future games, Cream the Rabbit has a Chao named Cheese, and there are a ton of Chao in lots of Sonic games, Sonic Heroes has a Chao related mission, Sonic Advance 3 has Chao collectables, Sonic Unleashed has 2 Chao side missions, etc.
The Chao Garden is quite complex for a side game, and it's even more enhanced in Sonic Adventure 2, in there you can raise your Chao, hatch it from its egg and give him animals for it to gain stats (those stats being: run, fly, power, swim and stamina) and they get some animal parts, in Sonic Adventure 2 you get the Chaos Drives which gives your Chao the stats without giving it the animal parts, the stats your Chao has the mosts influences how he'll evolve, when he evolves into an adult, depending on his stats he can become a swim type Chao, which makes them look like aquatic creatures, or Power type Chao, which makes them have bigger hands, you can also have 2 types, so your Chao can be Fly/Fly Speed/Power Swim/Fly, Neutral/Fly, etc.
There are tons of combinations, and there's also Neutral, Hero and Dark allingments, in SA1 those are given by fruits, but in SA2 the characters you use will influence the allingment of your Chao, so there's actually 3 types, for example Neutral/Fly/Speed Hero/Neutral/Swim, Dark/Power/Fly, etc.
There are also the Chao Races, which are one of the biggest mini-games in the Chao Garden, where you take your Chao to race against other Chao and the stats of your Chao will be used along the race, so that's why you upgrade your stats, speed will influence on how fast he runs, fly on how fast and far he'll fly in flight sections, power will influence in how fast he climbs, and swim will influence how fast he swims, stamina will slowly drop along the race and you can cheer up your Chao for a small burst of speed which costs a bit of stamina, in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle there is also the Chao Karate that was added, which your Chao will fight with others instead of race, and the power stats instead of being about climbing will be about the power of their punches
Anyway, the Chao Garden is really complex, it's a huge rabbit hole
15:14 That's what the mod "Idle Chatter" does, every Sonic game ever since the first game has the iconic idle animation where Sonic and the other characters gets impatient, with Sonic tapping his foot for example, in Sonic Adventure and some games forward the characters have idle quotes, these quotes are unique for literally every single area, each different section of a level or hub, and even the bosses, even if you're in the same hub/level if there's a split, the character will have something unique to comment about that area, and that's valid for every character too in every hub/level they can acess, plus they have some generic quotes where they play everywhere about being "time to go" or "no time to stand still"
The mod "Idle Chatter" makes it easier for you to trigger those quotes by just pressing a single button
This mechanic of the characters commenting about the ambient they're on also are in: Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, were supposed to be in Sonic 06 but due to that game's rushed nature they're unused and can only be found in the game's files (but thankfully where brought back in the Fan Remake Sonic P-06) and after 06 they were abscent from many Sonic games until they returned in Frontiers, kinda, in Frontiers you have the chance to randomly trigger some dialogues while you're running around the open zones, I think according to what I've seen, you need to run around the islands for 15 minutes without triggering a cutscene or initiating a mission/challenge and Sonic will say something, make a reference to a past game or talk about the islands, the enviroment, his friends, etc.
28:13 That pinball table is a reference to another Sonic Team IP they developed on the SEGA Saturn called "NiGHTS into Dreams", the giant room where you fly around the purple jester is a reference to Spring Valley, NiGHTS' first stage and the purple Jester is NiGHTS himself, since one of the tables is Sonic related, the other one is NiGHTS related, basically another trend Sonic Adventure started is having NiGHTS cameos in almost every single game, even though NiGHTS doesn't has a new game ever since 2008 where they released "NiGHTS 2" (called NiGHTS Journey of Dreams), NiGHTS is in Sonic Adventure, Sonic Shuffle, Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Generations, Sonic Colors Ultimate, Sonic Superstars, he's even playable in some Sonic games such as Sonic Riders and Sonic Riders Zero Gravity, where there are some extra SEGA characters playable such as AiAi from Super Monkey Ball, Billy Hatcher from Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, Amigo from Samba de Amigo, etc.
Sonic was also playable in Christmas NiGHTS, a "demo" of NiGHTS into Dreams released for the SEGA Saturn where you could play "Sonic the Hedgehog into Dreams" where you play as Sonic with his regular gameplay instead of NiGHTS' gameplay and you fight an Eggman reskin replacing on of the bosses of the game, NiGHTS was kinda the main project of Sonic Team during the Saturn, and later on they tried to release some games after the cancellation of Sonic X-treme, that's how they started "Project Sonic" for the Saturn, where they released Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic R and Sonic Jam, and btw, Sonic Adventure was originally planned to the Saturn, but SEGA was working on the Dreamcast already so Sonic Team moved the project to SEGA's next console, some say that the abscense of a mainline Sonic game for the Saturn is what made the console fail so much in America (it was really popular in Japan, but Sonic wasn't that much, people knew NiGHTS a lot more than Sonic in there, that's one of the reasons they also started Project Sonic aswell), and what leaded to the Dreamcast failing (even though I love it, and as everyone says it: it was a console ahead of its time) and making SEGA leave the console market

12:12 bruh did not just tell SONIC THE HEDGEHOG that the FASTEST way to get somewhere was by a TRAIN
I guess by that he meant the fastest way to get there without having to run on water for a long time. I mean, Sonic trips up even once and he's in the drink 😂
Man, you have no idea how much I love you for using the Dreamcast Conversion mod, it's no just the graphics and art style, DX screwed up a lot of the collisions too, making it seem more dated than it actually is
Imma sub right now cuz I appreciate that kind of dedication and effort
Thanks! I try to play faithfully to the original release sometimes :)
Hello there, fellow Mario and Sonic fan here, welcome to the fam. I'll try to help you a bit on your journey through Sonic, make it as good as it can be. Shadow the Hedgehog is mainline and not a spin-off, glad you're not skipping it, it's very ambitious. Same with Mania, also mainline. Sonic 4 is a game many people skip due to Episode I being dreadful but, you know, numerical release, literally mainline, you should go through S4's 2 episodes as well if you haven't already. Last game not many people talk about is Superstars, it is a very nothing burger game but it shows all signs of being mainline as well, wouldn't skip that also.
In regards to major spin-offs, I'd call spin-offs major if they introduce new characters long-term, have significant lore or production value equal to a mainline game. With that in mind, I'd suggest SegaSonic the Hedgehog (2 new characters), Triple Trouble (1 new character), Knuckles' Chaotix (3 new characters), Sonic the Fighters (3 new characters), Sonic Shuffle (big lore), Sonic Advance 2 and 3 (3 new characters and big lore), the Rush duology (2 new characters and huge lore, definitely not skipping these, mega important), Sonic Battle (1 new character and huge lore), Sonic Rivals (1 new character, one of the most important not to skip), the first 2 Riders (3 new characters and huge lore), the storybook duology aka Secret Rings and Black Knight (arguably Sonic Team's most production value rich spin-offs), The Murder of Sonic and Sonic Dream Team (big lore).
Sonic prides itself in oftentimes on the nose and oftentimes subtle continuity so the best way to become a complete Sonic fan would be to play EVERYTHING since everything gets appreciated or referenced eventually but I acknowledge that can be overwhelming and not at all accessible. These spin-offs I name dropped are the only ones one would call essential and many of them directly crossover with mainline titles (for example Battle interconnects Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06, Rivals directly picks up where 06 left off, Advance 2 and Rush introduce characters that become relevant in mainline games like Heroes and 06), so playing them at their appropriate time is highly recommended. I could give you all mainline games and the major spin-offs in order if you'd like. Have fun brother 🙌
As a major sonic fan i can say that not only do I perfer emerald coast to green hill zone, but I think it is the best opening level in any sonic game
I think it's more fun than green hill for sure!
There's just something about seeing new people learn about my favorite franchise ever.
First off: When/If you get to Big the Cat, *READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. DO NOT PLAY WITHOUT READING THEM.* However, do look around for upgrades in the overworld and the levels, if you feel like you'll need them.
Secondly: Whether one prefers Sonic Adventure 1 or Sonic Adventure 2 depends on personal preference, if you like exploration, fantasy-inspired settings, and being able to pick your character, chances are you'll prefer SA1 over SA2's more binary level design, forced character selection, and heavier sci-fi inspiration... SA2 also uses motion capture, so while it usually has better choreography, the animations can be janky in a completely different way to SA1's barebones cutscenes... Beware of the Mech-Walker stages, as they don't hold a candle to E-102 Gamma.
That elevator in hotel didn't actually lead you to dlc area but to chao garden. It's like tamagotchi but from Sonic. You can raise pets here. And in Mystic Ruins you accidentally thrown out silver chao egg. Don't worry, it'll respawn.
Thank you! I was worried that the egg won't respawn!
@@Sleengo oh, also, considering that you're playing a pc version, those emblems you are collecting serve to unlock 8-bit Sonic games in a separate menu. Once you collected all, you also unlock a secret playable character.
@@SleengoThe chao garden is amazing, a whole game within the game. I enjoyed it a ton in sa2, and it’s incredibly in depth and really fun. It’s a fan favorite that sadly hasn’t returned since. It’s fun in this game, but I think it’s much better in the second game. So when you eventually get to sa2, I’d love to see you explore it some ^^
Btw it’s crazy how small you are right now. Your content is awesome and I can definitely see you blowing up soon.
As I've said before, every character is worth playing through their story. In the order they show is fine. Each one has unique gameplay and that character's perspective on the story. Don't worry though, most of them are pretty short. Sonic's story is the longest.
Like that other guy said: treat the other stories like fun side adventures. I personally would try to finish bug the cat early but you might like the fishing gameplay and even try and get bigger fish for points. And i highly recommend leaving e-102 gamma for the end. Low-key one of the best stories and endings for a robot character and I've seen many of those and one in another sonic game.
1. There is no order to the stories you play, but I’d recommend playing the stories counter clockwise
2. Adventure 1 is better gameplay wise, adventure 2 is better story wise
3. After completing all stories, they reveal one final story, which connects all story
honestly adventure 1 has worse gameplay for some characters
@@Arthemisanimationsandstuff big and Amy are bad, but adventure 1 has better mech and treasure hunting stages
@@TTG-37 Sa 2 mech and treasure hunting stages are better than Sa 1, Sa 1's are too easy to be fun sometimes.
@@legerdokai581 SA2’s are too big to be fun, also the tracker is bad
@@TTG-37 I'd rather have actually challenging stages over ones that aren't.
For the order of the story you can play in whatever order you want, but imho, I recommend alternating the shorter stories (Amy/Big/Gamma) with the longer ones (Sonic/Tails/Knuckles) The reason is because Amy, Big, and Gamma have very different gameplay styles compared to the main trio, a common complaint I've seen first time players make is that the first few stories are very similar and can be repetitive if played back-to-back, so this way you can get a bit of variety.
Also: God bless your editor, top shelf
I’m glad I decided to watch this, it was a really fun video AND I found a new channel to watch! Keep up the good work!
Youre a Mario fan. This is the first time playing Sonic Adventure.
But you have no idea how painful it is to watch you play, i just want to snatch the controller and show you how. Things will only get better as you play and learn what new things SA1 will teach you and prep you for SA2.
Still, its fun to see what a non-Sonic fan will react to, especially the subpar voice acting
I've been enjoying these games so far!
Dear Sleengo, on your journey as a _Super Mario_ fan playing the _Sonic the Hedgehog_ games for the first time, can you please check out _Freedom Planet_ and _Freedom Planet 2?_ I heavily recommend these two games to anyone who loves _Sonic._
(Plus, the actor for Sash Lilac from _Freedom Planet_ is also now the new voice actor for Nabbit!)
"As a longtime Super Mario fan, I am on a journey to play every mainline Sonic game." Bro that's literally me but the opposite (technically I've been a Mario fan for a bit longer but I've played way too many Sonic games compared to Mario). Also btw Sonic Adventure's my favorite Sonic game so cool you made it to that one.
Yeah. I'm thinking about doing a series where I play all the main Mario games. I'll have the home advantage!
I’m so happy That you include the spin offs now hyped for the next videos
5:22 you're not far off! the same sound can be heard in the opening of "Valentine's Day" from Spongebob when he throws the cut-out hearts up into the air
Oh! You're right! That episode would air so rarely so I hardly remember that!
Fun fact:You Can Spam Spindash On Sa1.
personally this is my favorite sonic game, enjoy the ride!
side note about the cutscenes, at the point in time this came out, SEGA was a big fan of just wiggling mouths while people talk and occasionally injecting a facial expression instead of actually doing lip-sync, so the reason it doesn't match well because it isn't bad lip-sync, it ISN'T lip-sync at all. It doesn't make it better but when I realized that the cutscenes made so much more sense
Don't know how far you are into the game by now, but talking to all the NPCs is actually kinda worth it if you enjoy flavour-text. The developers of Sonic Adventure took TONS of time to write dialogue for the NPCs. Every time you clear a stage or trigger a cutscene, basically every NPC gets new dialogue. Some of them are just there for world building, some give you tips on where your objective is, some hint at secrets, and some even have their own little character arcs on the side.
Most people don't bother to talk to them. But if that's what you're into, just know that the NPCs in this game almost always have something new to say.
Yeah! I heard that the game was originally going to be an RPG which explains all the flavor text!
For context of when this game came out, it was about around the same time as Ocarina of Time, basically it was around when people were still getting used to 3D gaming, along with the camera kid mentioning the camera can be wonky, because it sometimes can be while you play.
If you're curious about the general history (and opinion) of someone who deep dived into the development of this, Adventure 2, and to a degree '06 (just titled "Sonic the Hedgehog" released on the xbox 360/ps3, but us fans mostly coin it by the year it came out, 2006), I recommend watching Golden Bolt's videos on the subjects it'll give you somewhat of an idea of what everything was like for Sega in that timeframe. I'd also suggest New Frame Plus's video going over the animations of each game throughout the series history (with a part 2 covering Frontiers exclusively, but minus the DLC story).
I will preface that their tastes aren't 100% geared towards Sonic stuff. Bolt's type is SLIGHTLY more geared towards the early Ratchet & Clank sort of early sarcastic lampshade humor, and Dan's (New Frame Plus) not really much of a fan of Sonic's character as a whole, namely the idea of the snarky protag or focus on trying to be a kid's/teen's idea of "cool." Basically as a "they view it as kind of 'dumb' that isn't normally their cup of tea."
Actually, the newest mainline sonic game is Sonic Superstars. When I first heard about it, i thought it was a party game like Mario Party, but it’s not.
Completing the main campain is easy, the hard part is if you want to 100% the game, but there is a lot of junk in there so Idk if I would reccomend it, but for the real Sonic experience you need to at least complete all B and A of Sonic levels, they are the most fun part of the game.
I respect the mission to play every Sonic game so much 🫡
Dude the editing is so good i just assumed you had 100k subs. 770 is criminally underrated.
I feel like this guy is super underrated too, he's just so fun to watch
Shoutouts to CrimsonT7phoon. He's the one edits my videos these days. (He replied to your comment)
omg he played adventure the right way, respect.
6:52 that’s probably because sonic adventure started out development as an rpg
bro i love how you look like Ryan Drummond, one of Sonic's earliest voice actors (who also started to voice sonic in this very game all the way to sonic heroes)
highly underrated channel, i hope my sub helps!
I see the resemblance a little bit
Dude what the hell, yo're so underrated man. I watched the entire thing, thinking you were some big streamer or something, with all of the amazing editing and funny humor. Turns out I look over and you only have 300 SUBS! 😱. Definitely earned yourself a fan today.
Yeah I seriously think he’s gonna pop off eventually!
@@crimsont7phoon That would be cool!
Nope! This channel is only a year old and I passed 300 subs like last week. Thank you so much for the kinds words!
If you complete all 6 stories you will unlock story 7 and ending (good luck with big)
6:51 in the early days of this games development it was planned to be an RPG so that is probably a remnant of that
Oh! That makes sense!
As was said by some other people in here, you complete this game by playing all characters to see all the different angles of this story. BUT, as a long time fan of this game specifically, let me give you some advice to make the walkthrough a bit more smoother and/or a bit more easier to digest:
1. First of all, try to complete the story of the chosen character to the fullest before starting the next one. Since the story is kinda massive, and some characters routes being directly tied to the other characters ones, you can stumble on literal spoilers within the game itself, or you can start to mix some events or timings with each other. As a rule of thumb, Sonic's story considered "the main" one, and it's the biggest one in the game(roughly the third of this game as a whole)
2. For the best story experience, i suggest playing stories in this order: Sonic->Tails->Big->Amy->Gamma(the robot)->Knuckles. After witch, a final story will become available. Using this method will make a few scenes make more sense, because they will be shown to you in a proper order.
From the gameplay experience, you would also have "main story and gameplay"(Sonic and Tails), followed by "side stories and gimmicky gameplay"(Big, Amy and Gamma), and ending with the best hybrid of them both, prepping you to the final story.
You don't have to follow this guides, of course. The best way to play this game is to find your own enjoyment out of it. But for me personally - that's the best way to experience the _story_ aspect of the game.
Okay! Now i'm going to watch this video. XD
Sonic has the last encounter with Tikal. I would argue switching to Tails when he is unlocked & finishing Sonic last is the best experience as it leads directly into the last story.
@@WaterKirby1994 first of all - no spoilers, please.
And second - i would slightly disagree. While Sonic has seemingly the last encounter, the *spoiler character* asking Sonic an open question of "Why? Why did THIS had to happen?" After whitch, she herself starting to answer her own question, giving various tidbits in othe characters story. From this point of view, it's better to complete Sonic's story first.
Basicaly, the character is showing a cliffhanger, and then answer all of the questions regarding this cliffhanger. Knuckles's flashback would be the real last event, closing the main stories.
I read @dan_man087's comment first and thank goodness! I saw the "No spoliers, please" and avoided looking at the first reply like the black plague!
Funny how the person responding "No Spoilers Please" proceeded to actually spoil things in detail to justify their order. I kept things vague & really the order you play the stories is up to the individual player. There is no right or wrong order when it comes to playthroughs.
@@WaterKirby1994 Well, the good thing is that I have bad memory so I forgot what the comment said. I refuse to reopen the previous replies until I finish the game.
17:42 in the casino you can do something like that but its 2500 rings to build a gold statue of yourself
Ok, so as you go about the game, you’ll be in the Adventure hub, then you’ll enter an Action Stage, then after that, there will be cutscenes and then you’re back in the Adventure Hub.
The purple character in the pinball machine is Nights, a character from another Sega franchise.
SA2 has overall better story and storytelling (although this one still has some pretty good stuff). But I personally vastly prefer the gameplay of this compared to SA2.
oooooo sonic adventure is such a fun game(the adventure series as a whole tbh), you don't necessarily need to complete the story(s) in any order but its typical to complete it counterclockwise on first time plays(ie sonic to tails to knuckles etc)
the emblems in Adventure DX can unlock black market items for chao's in the chao garden AND collecting all of them unlock a Metal sonic skin for the trials mode. its easy but tedious work though.
Tip: as Sonic, if you spin dash and jump immediately, the momentum from the spin dash will transfer to the jump and you’ll go flying. Using this Spin Dash Jump technique on slopes and ramps makes you go like 20-80 feet in the air depending on the angle of the slope or ramp
Woah! I love playing with the physics in games
Oh, one more thing, when you get to the other characters stories, it'll sometimes look like you're getting repeat cutscenes. Don't skip them, as the dialogue is slightly different to match the playable character's bias.
I'm glad I didn't skip any cutscenes (except for the one with Sonic meeting up with Tails by accident)
This is crazy I’m playing this game for the first time right now also. I had it when I was a kid but couldn’t get far good luck to you sir!
Thanks! I wish you luck in your Sonic Adventure Journey as well!
This takes me back to fall of 1999, living through this for the first time!
I'm glad I got to give you that feeling!
This is my favorite Sonic game, and I can't wait to see you play Sonic 06, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Generations, and Sonic Frontiers 😊
I would suggest experimenting more with the movement and spindashing.
1) you can try do more homing attacks chains plus maybe using it to gain some initial speed or air.
2) jumping from an upwards slope gives you more vertical height, try spindashing and immediately jumoing from one such slope.
These 2 simply things will make the game much more fun.
Also, try going a bit more with the flow, exploring is fine and all, but you shouldn't be so set on getting a small item box you missed before. You will just end up facing junk, like you did when you tried to get the item from the wallride. You will discover a lot more hidden stuff if you just take a better advantage of the movement abilities than being obsessed with missing a small thing you saw. If you missed it, you missed it. Just try to free up your mind a little more and relax a little bit. And make sure to use spindashes and homing attacks more, they are so fun.
Also, don't try breaking the automation. If the game puts you on a wall, you better not jump from it unless you have a really good reason to. Just let the game to guide you and take your oppurtunities when you see them.
Never played this game. I just think it's funny to see people experiencing pure sonic jank. Love your video
Loving these sonic play throughs. You my friend have earned a sub!!!
Use windii's retranslated mod please. The localization changes a lot. The japanese voice acting is also much better
I'm glad I watched this. Sonic adventure is one of my all time favorite games so it's cool to see someone play it for the first time. It's kind of clunky in some ways lol but I think there's a lot of charm and fun to be had.
As long as you hold the spindash button, you can hold onto the light speed dash too.
6:50 it makes sense that it would remind you of an RPG considering the game actually did start development as an RPG on the SEGA Saturn before being converted into a 3D platformer on the Dreamcast!
I'm surprised I picked up on that
Be carful there will be a difficulty spike in sonic story also a bit of help sonic has 3 upgrades you need 1 more
The Stories are unlocked when you meet the chracer in another's story (For example, when you saved Tails, you can now play his campagin at anytime). You can do them in any order you want and even jump between them if you so wish.
Makes sense. I do remember the game telling me that I unlocked Tails. And the "Long time no see" line!
Basically you play the sonic one first and just go to the next once you beat them all there will be something Cool for you to do with sonic
Wooooooooow. I clicked out of curiosity and didn't expect this much cake like it was my birthday. xD
The proper mods, the actual level exploration, great personality, fun editing, that's a whole package.
Seeing the number of comments I guess most of the stuff was already covered in terms of tips and hints, so yeah, I will just hope that you will continue to have fun and I'll definitely stick around for more videos on this channel! :)

8:28 There is a time limit, once you hit 10:00 minutes you die.
🎀 I've been playing this game for over twenty years.
NEVER have I noticed that the homing attack sound effect is the same as the whoosh in Spongebob dfhjskdalks
No wonder I was always like "The SA1 homing attack sounds....... satisfyingly wet?" LMAO
Well, SpongeBob is pretty wet since they're underwater

When you play sa2: make sure you play with the input conversion mod. Otherwise it will play like your analog stick is arrow keys because the pc port is horrible
Okay! I'll try to keep that in mind!
i thought an input mod didn’t exist for sa2 yet, there actually is one ? 👀 or do you mean the steam input settings method ?
either way, you awesome for mentioning this because the base pc port’s horrible dead zone really ruins the game more than a lot of people realize.
oh fun fact sleengo, the name "eggman" was actually the japanese name of him since the very first game! the us (or international i dont fully remember) team didnt like it so they names so they called him robotnik. and i guess they decided to call him eggman in this
(ALSO ALSO the mouth movements were made for the japanese dub, they just didn't edit it for the dubs, and even then they dont look that good in japanese lol)
also im sure someone's told you/you figured out (idk im watching it while writing) but you can spam the spindash button to go super fast, its just hard to control most of the time
Thank you very much for playing the Dreamcast Conversion mod instead of the botched DX version.
Of course! I heard using the mod would make the game not feel as aged somehow and I think I believe it!
You do not need to do the level B and A missions to progress.
Also how dare you enter the Chao Garden and not do anything
I had no idea what the purpose of the Chao Garden was. Or even that it was a Garden
@@Sleengo Hahahahah oh dude, you’re about to go into one of the deepest time sink rabbit holes of the franchise.
Great of you to go out your way to get the more accurate experience.
It's also quite interesting watching someone with a completely fresh experience. Have you seen DX, in comparison?
I also like how cute the Dreamcast character models look!
In any hub area you can pause and choose Map in the menu to see a map of the hub area
Adventure DX is the Star Wars Special Edition videogame version, it's such an abomination.
I modded the game to look more like the Dreamcast version.

"Standing here,
I realize
You are just like me
trying to make history
But who's to judge
the right from wrong?
When our guard is down,
I think we'll both agree
That violence breeds violence
But in the end, it has to be this way"
You can go any way you want with playing the character’s stories. And if you beat all stories you unlock a final story.
Ps. the loot you get from the enemies are animals that can be use for your chao to boost their stats. The chao are located in the chao garden
First off, THANK YOU for actually trying to restore the Dreamcast experience. The DX port and the ports of the DX port just got buggier and buggier and uglier with every new release, which leaves a gross taste in the mouths of most modern players. Second, as far as the question of the order to play each section, the game's six main stories take place roughly simultaneously and serve to fill in missing patches of the other stories. So, the thing most people do is beat each story in sequence, but I've always found the experience richer and more pleasant if you switch between them fairly regularly. In particular, Big's stages get a little frustrating if you play them all one-after-another but make for nice little palate cleansers if interspersed between the other stories.
Please when playing sonic the hedgehog 2006, play sonic p06 instead of the console version is the best version available of that game, with all the bugs and awful things removed , even if you have to watch some cutscenes in outside, P06 is the optimal way to play 2006 in PC.
For a brand new player, it's difficult to pick what the "best" way to play this game might be. The characters do all play differently from each other, and you might find some of them more fun to play than the others. I would say, swap around when you can, play each character for a few levels, just to change things up a bit, and see how the different storylines interact.
I don't think playing through each character 1 by 1 would be ideal, specifically to avoid some of the.. lesser liked characters from becoming repetitive.
4:50 Those guns are rated E for Everyone lmao
Though the ESRB *does* mention "violence" as the only tag for this game lol
I just became your 666th subscriber.🤣
BRUUHHHH XDDDD
I’m not sure if part of the controls are part of this but there is a mod in the mod manager called the input fix mod that wasn’t checked off in there. It’s mainly to help with analog stick sensitivity that was made an issue as future ports of Sonic Adventure 1 and especially Adventure 2 went on having.
I also recommend you to play with the Retranslated subs mod and japanese voices
Not to crap on the English VAs but the dub was extremely rushed, being made in a week
The japanese script and dialogues are way less cheesy and more like shonen anime
The rings are for the chao garden’s black market
Oh, by all means, this may come of as rude, but you need to get good before you get to unleashed. Because that game has one of the hardest levels in gaming history, eggmanland.
This was fantastic! I love the overall positive attitude towards the game from a self-proclaimed Mario fan, no negativity to be seen!
(Was kinda expecting that because y'know, the Internet... and this is my first time watching a video from you!)
Subbing to see what other Sonic shenanigans you get up to! :D
Thanks! I have a playlist of my other Sonic videos! I recommend taking a look at them if you want more!
@@Sleengo Will do! :D
Thing is SA1 was made in a time when not everyone knew how to control a character in 3D without tank controls
Wow, you deserve so much more subscribers. Also the editing is amazing.
Shout out to my editor CrimsonT7phoon!
To complete the game you need to beat the game with all character yes all character
Sonic mania isn’t a spinoff
23:45 I know he wasn't going to play the pet sim but man seeing that silver egg killed like that, hurt my soul. XD
So it actual goes sonic,tails,knuckles,amy,e-102 gamme then big
hey sleengo im glad you are enjoying my first game of all time , however if you want to experience the game differently try finding shortcuts using the spindash , like jumping from an incline then jumping and dashing to get to other places just go watch a little vidoeos about it in the first stage and youll know what i mean , also you can spamdash and its a lot of fun too
The second best game of 1998 next to Ocarina of Time imo
I should play that sometime. I enjoyed Breath of the Wild
Hi, are you going to play Sonic 3D Blast? Only mainline Sonic game on Sega Saturn.
phew! thank god you actually tried to make your experience as close as possible to the OG
31:00 bruh i still only have 18 subs and ive been a youtuber for 4 to 5 years (also i deleted most of my old videos)
I'm confused. You seem to know way too much about Sonic for someone who is a Mario fan...but I guess you're a fan of Sonic too and just haven't played this game and the title is juet clickbait...I like your vibe so I'll just keep watching.
I researched a bit about how to enhance each Sonic game I've played so far (Sonic 1 forever, Sonic 3 AIR, This game with the Dreamcast conversion mod). Also I binge watched Snapcube's fandubs but I have no idea what the actual stories are.
One thing I do want to say, is you did miss out on Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island for the Mega Drive, which is a mainline game.
Oh! I should probably add that to my list of games
@@Sleengo Also do the Saturn version. It is very good
