As a long time Sonic fan, I can say this is probably the least frustrating first playthrough I've ever seen. You actually try to play the game well instead of just rushing into hazards repeatedly and I appreciate that.
Seeing someone experience their first Sonic game is so fun. Sonic was in my life since early childhood and It’s my favorite franchise to this day, so looking into the mind of someone who’s new to it is surreal and interesting. I hope you enjoy the games moving forward as much as I did ^^
Pretty interesting. As a longtime Sonic fan, I appreciate the respect for the series you have, despite not knowing much about it. I get tired of people hating on Sonic basically, haha
@@damasterofskitsees True, but not only that. It's also just a lot of hardcore Nintendo fans will just hate on sonic for no reason. So, its cool seeing someone not do that for once haha
sonic isn't too hard. you're supposed to go fast, not collect everything. it wasn't designed to be played like mario, meaning that playing it like mario makes the game harder.
Lol no they had very little space. They had to be hard so you wouldn't blow through your sixty to eighty bucks within a day of playing. If only the modern corporations respected that idea...
I'm sure you know it by now, but you can roll by pressing down while running. That would help you with the two catakillers in Marble Zone, as well as the half pipe drop in Spring Yard Zone, just keep pressing down as you hit the bottom to go up higher each time.
The first Sonic the Hedgehog is classic, but of the original games it’s definitely the weakest in terms of level design because you have maybe two or three zones that allow you to go fast and the rest is a slog of traps, badniks, and death that hinder and punish your speed. All the same I still love 100% completing it even with the trouble it gives me. Also those giant rings you missed were Special Zones that allow you to try and get the Chaos Emeralds (though no Super Sonic in the first game).
A bit of a hint, the classic sonic games makes an interesting use of physics. Holding the down button while running or on any kind of slope will have sonic roll into a ball which can be used as an attack. When you are rolling into a downward slow, you move A LOT faster. All sonic games after the first will give you a move call the "Super Sonic Spindash". Basically, holding down and rapidly pressing the jump button will let you rev up in a ball. The moment you let go of the down button you will zip fast in a ball which is helpful when you want to go up hill from a standstill.
I grew up a Sega kid while all my friends were Nintendo kids. I would have been one too, my mom got me an NES for Christmas '91 but the store had given her a used demo console that was filthy and missing parts. We went to return it but they were out of NES so she said I could get something else. I knew nothing about video games so I picked the Sega Genesis (mostly because the box was black and cool looking). Little did I know that I was starting out on a life-long video game journey. I still love the original Sonic games, so much nostalgia!
@@damasterofskitsees NICE Btw once you get into more story driven Sonic games, especially SA1, definitely play the other character stories to get the full experience!
