This is stupid, while Zoe Lawton was in the comics she was like, a 1-issue only, z-list character.
She never had an alias, in fact in the comics we never saw her past the age of, like 12.
This 'Lawless' thing is purely the devs making up a character despite the fact that the SS has had 40+ different characters over the years.

He wasn’t given a real name, and was only referred to as Lawless.
So yeah, he’s an incredibly minor DC character, even before Rocksteady changed him to Zoe.

Lawless is a semi-uncommon Hibernian surname (basically, of Irish, Scots-Irish and English origins, going back several centuries). Given the amount of American mixed heritage - both Obama and Harris have Irish ancestors - there's no reason why a contemporary black American couldn't have a Lawless surname.

@@Kelly-np2xq The thing that's even more stupid about this to me is they thought "hey you know what would be cool an electricity based female villain" and didn't use Livewire from Superman the animated series she was even partly created by DC's "golden boy" Bruce Timm (not a fan of the dude myself for some baffling decisions he's made with some DC projects over the years so I mean that sarcastically).
Point being though people at least somewhat know Livewire from her being in stuff like Lego DC Supervillains and it's crazy to me how WB has kinda lost the plot that video games and animated shows are a perfect way to either introduce or reintroduce lesser-known characters from the comics to the masses instead of coming up with bland uninteresting new characters that never existed before this game and will likely never see the light of day again.

At least there is an argument about whether it's an "agenda" or not in the sense that to some people that means everyone meets in a room and agrees on a direction. As bad as Avengers liveservice was, at least it had actually different kits based on hero's power. This game don't even have that because practically everything beside traversal is same for every1. Shoot fucking guns and throw grenades (yeah technically meele is different but meele in this game is barebone glorified animation player so I wouldn't actually count it unique).

Marvel Rivals is a good example... you can justify "shooting" mechanics with any character really, let's say Enchantress "shooting" magical beams, Aquaman "shooting" tridents, etc.. anything goes. But yeah, this game is limited to have a static arsenal of generic guns, so you can't be creative with the powers. But even so, Peacemaker is a trending character, then you have freaking Deathstroke who became a B-list villain if not higher (the character is everywhere), they shoot guns, so why not?
The character designer saw how bad the characters looked in Concord and took that as a challenge

What's baffling is that the characters at launch were really good. The Justice League are done a great deal of justice, Green Lantern never felt so intimidating imo. characters like Superman had a good deal of balance between the more serious modern version and the older speedo wearing version while still being serious. The starting four characters too are really well done and likeable. When they got to the DLC it started to go downhill immediately with Jonkler. They had the capacity to make good designs, they just chose to go with weird ones.
Jedi Survivor was actually a good game so it was able to get away with having technical issues. People will overlook a lot of technical issues if the game itself is actually good.
They picked a character I've never heard of who 'seems' incredibly obscure and after several attempts to Google them and work out who they are I find they raceswapped her anyway lmao The most corporate sanitised bland generic black girl heroine design...oh...this week at least.

She is obcure but has been both a female and male child in the comics. To my knowledge she was never portrayed in comics as a teen or an adult or as a villain or hero. Also to my knowledge i think deadshot originally had a son and later on it was changed to a daughter then back to a son and then again to a daughter. Depends on the continuity. But his kid was always just that...his child and usually only mentioned in passing

These characters are for the bourgeoisie urbanite devs and their industry peers. They don't care if the games sell, they just work on them and network. They get paid, the game flops, they move on.

The problem was, the people behind the character designs on this were both drowning in too many ideas and bereft of any good ideas, so we ended up with: crap version of beloved character > lazy new take on beloved character > "Who?"

@@JK_of_Today They have 100 to 200 Player and I think this Game is still going, because for the Ultimate Edition they included the first Year of Content or something. Otherwise they would have killed the Game by now, instead of paying Server costs and losging money.
Cause the gameplay is actually good to play and the main characters have some good chemistry to them that's good for a group of character you have to play as

@@Blisterdude123 Zoe Lawton is Deadshot's daughter, but the whole Lawless persona in the game is an invention from the devs. So, its an OC for the game. Zoe's been historically an obscure background character that's closer to a plot device to humanize Deadshot.
Said it once and I’ll say it again: I’m not against Mrs. Freeze in concept. But I will NEVER get over the missed opportunity of making NORA Mrs. Freeze instead of just gender swapping Victor. Like how do you fumble the bag THAT HARD! Did they really want a gay character that bad! That they had to drop the easiest layup for a character idea?!

The suicide concept of bringing characters that nobody knows is fun. It worked with polkadot man in the movie, the rat gorl too. The are nobodys and thats the whole premise. The problem with this games characters it's not that they are nobodies, but they lack both interesting design and personality.

If they have a skeleton crew working on this then ALL of these DLC characters were created during the standard production.
Very rarely does "We're going to go against what our audience wants" work out for any studio, not just with video games. It hasn't worked for Disney with Star Wars and Marvel. It didn't work for DC with Suicide Squad KTJL and the DCEU. It didn't work for Sony with Concord, nor Microsoft with Halo.
One of the few times I can recall it working has been God of War 2018. From what I remember, most people were expecting a direct sequel to GOW3 until it was confirmed to be a soft reboot, but what they gave us was solid enough that most people were pleasantly surprised.
There's a reason why what worked in the past was popular, and why the newer projects are able to use their names as a political platform, or to tell the story they want, regardless of if it makes sense
Nailed it. Another thing that might not be a bad thing is the approach Microsoft might be taking with things like the new Perfect Dark. Slightly lower budget titles that can be released on a much better timeline and with a greater chance of returning revenue since the budget isn't a trillion dollars.
It's crazy how much these companies love losing money lol. Instead of appealing to your huge audience who are very much willing to throw money at you for a good product, instead you're gonna appeal to a loud minority of twitter activists who could care less about video games.

Yes! I played it one free weekend, and actually enjoyed it, but all my friends hate it by reputation and I don't want to play it alone, so never played more of it.

The creators of these games do not make any assumptions about what the consumer may or may not want. They create what THEY want to see in games. They are making games for THEMSELVES and more as a way to grandstand or send some lame current day political message rather than actually catering to the playerbase at large.
And when those characters / stories / plots are then critizised or rejected it is portrayed as a moral failing of the playerbase who are obviously just racist / homophobic / transphobic etc rather than the fault of the developers for being out of touch and who made something nobody asked for.
Actually catering to the people who are giving you money is very low on the list of modern video game developers.
