A lot of people get hooked on "over the rainbow" but then you get into her jazz and blues and she's maybe even better.
Billie Holliday, Blood Sweat and Tears, and now Eva... What an amazing song, what an amazing performance.
Eva Cassidy was pure soul. Effortless renditions. Talented guitarist. Such a huge loss. Cancer really hits the younger artists. Field Of Dreams is fantastic too!!!!

Not quite sure what it is with her voice apart from amazing it sort of comes from the speakers grabs your soul rips it out your body takes it on amazing journey then she puts it back in and it's like wow what just happened pure joy

Encourage you to listen to Wonderful World. It was the last song she did at a benefit for her six weeks before she slipped away. Dancing Cheek to Cheek, Bridge over Troubled Water, People Get Ready, Songbird are others you would enjoy sampling and reacting to. Really, eyes closed, allow her music to waife over you, engulfing the beauty of her talent into your soul

Thank you so much for the heart, Larry. Truth be told, I am just learning about this remarkable woman, having heard her stunning rendition of Rainbow a few months ago. I believe it had Judy Garland giving her a standing "O" from heaven. I am always looking for modern artists of this era (yes, I know she's gone), that give me the same feeling as I had in the 60's-80's. It is hard. Eva has been an exceptional exception, if I may put it that way.
Eva is my favorite all time singer, absolutely no one like her. By the way Blood Sweat and Tears does a great cover of this song.
Great summary Chris. It is that rare combination of tone and musicality that made Eva so special. btw, I can just about call you "youngster", being born in 1955.
Such a wide range of styles, Eva could sing ANYTHING!
You need to hear some of her up-tempo songs..................Blues in the Night for one example.
She is absolutely on another level --- honestly better than what the world calls the best. (And I so wish they could lose "over the rainbow" --- that's probably her least interesting song!)

I've heard Billie Holliday's versions a number of times. Eva's version, at least to me, is still the best hands down.
