    Really helpful.for me as I very recently bought at the ultra c. Wondered if I was missing out on the new features. But thanks to this video it anything prefer the old one. Bigger battery and more capable keyboard two key features for me.

    This was extremely useful to really see them side by side. Thank you so much for another great video! The comment about the battery was spot on, it baffles me that they would save on 30g but produce this clunky, not fully thought through keyboard case that weighs more than the device itself, and combined they weigh more than the average 14" laptop. Imagine the moment you need to fly. The carry on limit is just 8kg. It will be a hard decision time.

    Not a big deal. I own a Tab Ultra C and as you mentioned I don't see why I should upgrade . I'll wait when a big new release incorporating more new functionalities will be available, maybe in some years. For now, I'm quite satisfied by my TUC. It's not obsolete at all. But, I'm still waiting for a software upgrade.

    Been giving the obsolescence aspect some thought, and the important thing is to simply pick the E-ink tablet that appeals to you, and get in the game. In a lot of ways, it's a lot like buying a computer, or maybe a car. Intel introduces a new CPU family annually, but frame rates on my 2021 PC with an Nvidia 3070 are VERY close to a similarly-priced 2023 model. Major releases like Apple silicon were exciting at the time, but the M2 and M3 CPU's haven't soured me on my 2021 16" M1 Pro MacBook Pro. Ditto for my 2017 minivan. The latest models are styled a little differently, but they don't carry any more passengers, or get me down the road any faster.

      Couldn't agree more! The marketers do a very good job of giving us all the new device lust, (and a lot of that is my fault too,) but i hope it comes across how satisfied I am with the performance of the original here and that people should continue to enjoy using it! It's an incremental update just as you say!

    Thanks, the tab Ultra C keyboard suits me fine and this very much confirmed this for me - I would get annoyed with all the accidental key presses I'd get if I had the Pro version! Also not bothered by the lack of trackpad. Having more desk real estate at the front is preferable for me as I'm often working with limited space

    • @SteamyPMcGee
      @SteamyPMcGee Год назад +2

      Tuc pro has a keyboard case and a camera and costs an extra $200.
      If you already have a tablet or laptop you don't need a tab ultra c pro as it's meant to fill that gap.
      The note air 3c is more aimed at folks who want the reading and note writing but because you can use nearly every android app and pair your own 3rd party bluetooth keyboard, you can still do productivity things and would only be missing out on a built in camera and I don't think that's a big deal really😊

    • @opredeleno
      @opredeleno Год назад

      @@SteamyPMcGee very interesting take, thanks! Because the note air3c is marketed predominantly for handwriting and that doesn't entice me that much, I hadn't looked at it from that angle. (I don't care about the camera and keyboard case either) And it's cheaper so quite worth considering. As for reading, does it do anything for reading that the TUC Pro can't do? I wouldn't imagine?!? Thanks again.

      @@opredeleno I can't think of any reading features that would be missing from the NA3C over the TUCP. They would both use neoreader (quite a good reading app) and have ability to install any other reader apps you want.

    What I would really like to see is a Samsung Dex like feature that allows to connet to a monitor / keyboard/mouse and run apps on a real monitor. Some Android devices have a destop mode as well. It would be a kille feature for me to enable this

    Hello! I want to apologise a lot before anything because I know this is a bit irrelevant to the video but I’ve been looking into e inks
    I’m considering the boox air note 2 plus (not 100% sure on the name sorry) but I just have some questions (im planning to use it mainly to take/organise notes for uni and maybe reading pdfs and journal arrivals etc. since that looks like a really useful feature to utilise and stuff)
    1) what are the note taking features like
    (I mean this as in are there any ways to add shortcuts? (Like double tapping with 2 fingers to undo etc, the ability to resize sections of things I’ve drawn/written etc))
    2) what is the software like
    (I believe with remarkable they released a software update, is there something similar?
    Can you “mod” it? (Im not sure how far modding goes but I’ve briefly seen some mention of it))
    Super sorry for the long comment and if these are obvious
    I have other questions but I can’t remember them so hopefully if/when I remember I’ll be asking (if that’s ok)
    Just wanted to say that your channel (as well as others) has been crazy helpful esp in a more “niche” side of tech (from what I know), really appreciate the efforts
    Really appreciate any responses, thank you in advance

    My main concern with Boox's approach is that the resale value of your devices will drop down quicker as people go after the new shiny stuff. Didn't sit well with me.
    Does anyone want to buy by TUC? I bought a Supernote and I'm happier with it.

    Given the choice between these two devices, I would choose the Pro, for speed, the trackpad and keyboard location, the chamfered edge of the package and lighter weight out of the case. However neither compels me to change from my Bigme Color Lite, because I use it primarily for in-hand reading, and my productivity device (to the extent that I am productive any more) remains the 15" M2 MacBook Air, on which I am watching this Kit Betts-Masters e-ink video in living color, instead of the livid color it would be on the Bigme. In all honesty, if I had NO e-ink device already, I would probably start from fresh with the Note Air 3C instead of either of these or a Bigme.

    Thanks for nice video. How about drawing ? As Pro model has much better performance so that could be used for real e ink drawing tablet with 3rd party drawing app i guess (eg. Clip studio paint) My e ink devices with Snap 665 plus BSR are not so usable as their lacking of performance, especially when using multiple layers, but Ultra C pro has an enough power to use those 3rd party apps so I really wonder if I could use it as a drawing machine. (It would be so thankful if you could test Clip studio as I mentioned)

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  Год назад +1

      Oooh, I am going to do a full drawing video on the Tab Ultra C Pro, but all in due course! What I would say is that although the latency is less on the newest device, it is still basically unusable in third party drawing apps. We are really waiting for Boox to make a dedicated drawing app. For now, the notes app will have to do. (There is also a chance that someone could use the Boox pen input api to make a drawing app, but who knows if anyone is keen to do that.)

    I'd also add that actual landed prices between the best and worst e-Ink tablets are remarkably close once you equip them properly, with the possible exception of the Kindle Scribe. Here in Canada, there's roughly a $200 spread with accessories tax and shipping between Bigme InkNote Color +, Note Air3 C, Tab Ultra C Pro, Supernote, and reMarkable 2. People complain about the overpriced reMarkable keyboard folio and pen, but that's just gamesmanship with the low price of the tablet itself. Fully loaded, it's still in the same $800 to $1,000 CAD ballpark as the others...

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  Год назад +1

      Absolutely! The main components that cost the bucks are the same for them all, (eink screen and wacom EMR licence,) so it's only really Amazon that can play the volume sales and small margins discounting game.
      You're right about the remarkable, but I think you can get around it with a third party case and stylus!

    • @steverolfeca
      @steverolfeca Год назад

      @@KitBetts-Masters whoops, I had priced the Tab Pro with a regular case instead of the keyboard- the spread is actually closer to $300. Still, not that significant at this price point...

    I look at this and what I see is Boox solving a couple minor issues but delivering an overall inferior product at a higher price. Keyboard case is different rather than improved (might be better or worse depending on your needs) but the tab itself... well, it has a better processor and more ram - but performance doesn't matter much for a device like this. I wonder how many users would actually prefer some extra speed over 50% more battery power...
    There are some improvements but, overall, it's a step in the wrong direction and a reason to regret not having bought the previous version when it was still available.
