Here you will learn how an electric dipole (e.g. a molecule) behaves in a homogeneous and inhomogeneous electric field. More: en.fufaev.org/mass-density

I prefer the obviously simpler method of vaporizing that jewelry to analize its spectrum
haha :D
What if the interior is comprised of different metals, that balance each other out?
Like, if most of the volume is made from a cheaper and lighter metal than gold, but also a tiny bit of a very heavy element, to balance things out?
Then you wouldn't have the same density across all points of the volume, that can happen in an alloy for example. In this case you couldn't determine wether or not the cube is made 100% out of gold just with this method.
Despite that, this method was pretty important back in the day, it led Arquimedes to his theorem which is used in basic hydrostatic and hydrodynamic :)
When do you make long form of videos?
What if the sample is gold plated tungsten?
What if the sample is tiny? Like a ring.
