  • X-Lock allows you to change grinding wheels without any tools and without needing to handle a hot disc or wheel. This BOSCH GWX18V-8N 18V Brushless Grinder is equivalent to an 8-Amp 4-1/2" corded grinder. The X-Lock technology is something that BOSCH developed, but they have shared this with other grinder manufacturers as well. You can get this grinder for $139 for the bare tool and it includes a 3-year warranty.

    Thanks for showing some love to the Bosch brand. They have some incredible tools that work amazingly however people seem to only think there is a yellow and red brand… and they are missing out on some great quality tools for great prices(and if you find your local Bosch rep in the Lowes or HD stores they can get you hellacious deals)

      Flex won my angle grinder purchase right across bosch. The rep was even there trying to sell me on it. He was nice enough to ask my opinions on why I went for it because this was a purchase I thought about for weeks. They’re offering life time warranty, speed settings, battery kit for only 200. Bosch gas good deals but the only thing that stood out tech wise was just the install method, it’s a neat trick but not a game changer. I think their impact hex with 1/2 is a solid idea though.

      @@madjackgamingandfitness498 I hear you on that life time warranty, if you don’t mind me asking what technology does the flex have that made you feel that Bosch didn’t have any?

      @@raymathis5577 Speed control, antikick back, slimmer design handle just is more comfortable, and a side switch is just a negative for me, doesn't feel like a good method of control. The only other thing I see from Boschs end is it advertises 1000more RPMs, but that could be hit or miss you'd have to test that personally. But just looking at the 1 year warranty makes me think they have little faith in their own tool, and at cost you end up just the same or more depending on the sales as a flex and other brands.

    Thanks for the video , iv been welding and grinding sense I was 14, burned up many grinders and currently own almost every corded brand. And to be honest I think the x lock is a neat idea but the price of the wheels are kinda silly. Plus for any one who actually knows how to use a grinder it only takes 5-10 sec to put on a new wheel. Where I think x lock would really shine and I think bosch missed the mark big time is making the the grinder be REVERSABLE. Iv been in so many situations where if I could spin my wheels ccw and cw it would make my life much better. And I understand most grinders can't reverse because the nut will come loose. Other main problem with x lock is almost every customer I go and weld at I can find regular wheels if I was to run out on their shelves/shop. Yall might think about making an adapter. Like I said neat idea!

    I was surprised to see there is no brake.
    My grinder is 5 years old, has 3 speeds, brake, kickback protection, drop protection and bluetooth connecting module.
    In speeds one and two, stops immediately, in speed 3 takes about half of a second to a complete stop.
    Amazing machine, it went through so much steel in these 5 years. Never had any problem with it.
    Mine is not xlock tho.
    The only thing that I don't like on mine is a power switch.

      from what you're describing you have a top tier grinder (even if older) while this is the entry level Brushless grinder with X-lock but no extra features like bluetooth, drop protection nor e-brake. The step-up (GWX18v-10) adds the e-brakeadds

    Thanks for doing the review. Suggestion--run time with a given battery would've been nice to include and it appears this one doesn't have kickback protection based on the ability to stop the tool while grinding. Price point is excellent so those looking to get into a light duty cordless at a great price, here's your Huckleberry!
    Cheers!

    • @raymathis5577
      @raymathis5577 Год назад +1

      It’s hard to do run times as depends on the use and what kind of material being fabricate. But the Bosch batteries are one of the best made on the market due to the copper that they use in the batteries(the yellow and red companies use zinc plated metal throughout their batteries) plus Bosch actually has a heatsink built into the bottom of their batteries. So you can be sure that your going to get everything you can out of their batteries for your new grinder.
