Dang! thats some thick glass in that thing lol Came out really good Chris, my Brother Tom worked real hard to get a VWB and the first day he brought it home he only had it only a few hours and he kicks himself in the butt to this day for letting my Sisters BF take a ride in it ..ALONE and he hit a phone pole..my heart broke to see my Brother just looked and said nothing... his brand new car trashed. that was back when I was 7 back in 1974, I'll never forget that feeling seeing my brother just sit next to it looking at the ground and said nothing until the police and fire trucks came. still breakes my heart to this day when I recall that day. Things like that shouldn't happen to one of the coolest dudes ever.
Damn you're full of ideas HAHAHA I never thought about dulling the tire treads like that either. We also use the same hobby paint....that Walmart stuff is fantastic
What a great video!!!! Thanks! I just bought this fun kit at Walmart and started putting it together for my wife as a surprise. The Beetle is her favorite car. I don't know where Walmart got the idea to stock all these nostalgic kits, but I'm loving it! (i do not work for or sponsor walmart)
Had this kit for awhile, just started messin with it last night finally. Went red for body color to match the rest of my Coke stuff. Been awhile since i painted, didnt think to check the nozzle on my can. Had to do some emergency wet sanding, but itll survive well enough for a drag car paintjob im sure.
Omfg I'll buy it for the decals alone...being a 70s kid they are really heavy, far out, cosmik, farm out, groovy and right arm!! Damn! And Atlantis is bringing out an ALL NEW NOVA CHEVY II GASSER !! THOSE DECALS WOULD BE SUPER GROOVY ON IT DAMN ITS A GOOD TIME TO BE A MODEL BUILDER
That decal sheet was sweet. I have never done a VW . That's cool gona have to do one . I really like those Cragars . Heck I really the whole thing . Gets a thumbs up from me.
Chris I very much appreciate your reviews they certainly leave me with no doubt about a kit and if I am going to pursue owning one or not Thank You So Much for all your efforts with the Hectic Schedule that you build at it could become the job from Hell but you always manage to find something to like in the poorest examples that cross your desk keep it up brother and I will keep watching
Awesome job as usual Chris ! I must get my hands on this one ! I've never built a bug before but have been wanting to for a long while. And this is exactly what I have in mind ! Love the short little body and chassies. I would probably build mine with the Moon caps. I always loved those on a Volkswagon Beetle. They would really look good with the skinnies in the front and fatties in the rear ! And love the Coke bottle green glass. A lot of folks don't know it but that is actually called " Georgia Green". I read about some of Coke's history and that's what it said about it anyways. Proud to say I'm from Georgia. Love your videos. I learn a lot from watching them ! Awesome build. Thanks for sharing this with us ! Thumbs up !
as always great build that l@@ks fantastic. I really appreciate your approach to building with the emphasis on fun and the results show it ....most modelers on the u-tube become ''righteous'' so keep the faith👍👋👏
I save the nozzles from empty cans, soak them in Super Clean and pop a new nozzle on when one clogs. Then soak the clogged one in Super Clean for a few days to clean it. Simply, easy, effective.
See that clear dropper used in the vid? It fits inside spray can tips, so as soon as you're done painting, pop the tip off the rattle can & flush it with paint thinner 😎
Who-Dey Was originally spelled Hu-dey after a local brewery Hudepohl . The chant survived the beer's on its last leg I think. The wild decals made me think of that for reasons unknown.lol
Another great build Chris. Could you tell me what paint booth you use? I use spray cans and am looking for a booth that can exhaust the overspray. Thanks.
I noticed you glued chrome to chrome. I've always had to scrape the chrome to get the pieces to stick. Is it the type of glue or me not being patient enough?
What a nice build - NOT a question, a statement. 10 years as a "VW Wrencher" factory trained and certified. But 10 years? Slow learner, me. I mention this to underscore both the authenticity of this build and the craft this builder employs. But "nice"? No - DAMN FINE. Now let's all get a Pepsi... (I still think I'm funny)
Great video hpiguy Thank you for all the answers to my questions. Got another question for you. Do you wash all the pieces in the kits that you put together on your videos? And what do you use to wash the parts with?
I just have to ask, once you build all of these models, do you put them on a shelf with other ones you have built? if so, you must have a huge space to put them all.
Am I a bad person for looking at this happy hippie Beetle and wanting to glue plastic spikes all over it to make it look like something from Fury Road?
I hear about it all the time. I don't dive into that drama, I just keep making my models and having a great time and I hope those folks enjoy their hobby their way as well. All I want is for all modelers to enjoy themselves in the way they choose to make their models. :)

You just introduced me to that panel line accent stuff....I ordered some and can't wait to try it out.
I’d like to teach the world to sing….
Great job!
I have always thought the bug was one of the cutest cars made. Thanks for the fun build.
As a long-time-ago modeler, I find your videos very satisfying to watch, very relaxing. Thank you for your good work!
That's also an awesome way to do the trim....never crossed my mind to tape it off for paint markers
Damn you're full of ideas HAHAHA I never thought about dulling the tire treads like that either.
We also use the same hobby paint....that Walmart stuff is fantastic
I thought I would never want to build a vw bug until now great job as usual keep up the great work
This would make a wonderful Bumblebee with the addition of an auto its decanal.
I have to totally agree with you Chris, if someone doesn't like what you build they can scroll pass or walk away. Thanks for your inspiration
We watched it as a family...I drive a bug and my husband makes models. You did a great job !! 😀👍✌
Awesome! Thank you!
Love your model videos have taught me a lot about them and every model you done I have done all because of you keep up the awesome videos love them
I'm excited! I just bought the kit! Can't wait to start it. Thanks for the video!
Gotta' love the Bug! 😉👍✌☮
Nice dac dac Chris 👍🇦🇺

That’s a neat little model thanks Chris
Looks nice. I'm not normally a fan of cardboard displays, but this one fits quite well with the theme.
Had this kit for awhile, just started messin with it last night finally. Went red for body color to match the rest of my Coke stuff. Looks like a great build for a Baja bug. Oh the ideas are forming.
Greetings from Manitowoc.

Nice job Chris! Love the decal choices great results. Thanks for your time and efforts into doing these videos! Somehow I feel like having a Coke! 🥤
That decal sheet was sweet. I have never done a VW . That's cool gona have to do one . I really like those Cragars . Heck I really the whole thing . Gets a thumbs up from me.
Pretty sweet kit ..definitely got some parts with that kit!
Very nice build Chris! I had a ‘73 Super Beetle back in the day with a Thrush muffler and Hurst shifter! Model on!
Nice looking kit
One nice vw.build thanks for sharing
Very nice job. Great choices for the decals and colors. The engine looks amazing. As usual, great work. Thanks for sharing.

That's a sweet bug..
Dude, that looks spectacular. Keep up the great work!
It's always a pleasure watching you videos. Love the music also! Thank you sir!
Awesome build crazy on the short body / chassis
Awesome VW Beetle Chris! I've built both the Revell and the Tamiya version and they were absolutely fun to build! I shall grab this one!
Wow, this brings back memories. Super build!!
as always great build that l@@ks fantastic. I really appreciate your approach to building with the emphasis on fun and the results show it ....most modelers on the u-tube become ''righteous'' so keep the faith👍👋👏
Groovy, man! 🌸✌️🌺
That turned out great! Really nice!
Sweet build, and very grovey Chris!! Hippy dippy fun presentation!
"I'd like to teach the world sing, in perfect harmony.
I'd like to buy the world a coke, and keep it company..."
Damn what a weird little kit....I want one!
Little bug in your life nice job!
Excellent build Chris! Love those old VW Beetles, especially the shortened ones!
Tom S.
Congratulations. Excellent video. So much fun.
Looks groovy, man!! ✌
The Coke bottle glass was a great choice.
You should have sprayed the body with some of that new paint that turns bodies transparent as that would have been cool
Looks real nice
that remind the Herbie movie cars
How do you prevent your spray tips from clogging?
I've noticed it is more common on the regular Stops Rust paint than the 2X.
Yeah.!! ?? I turn my cans upside down and spray to clear but all too often I have issues, clogs and waste.!!
I save the nozzles from empty cans, soak them in Super Clean and pop a new nozzle on when one clogs. Then soak the clogged one in Super Clean for a few days to clean it.
Simply, easy, effective.
Thanks I'll Be Getting Some Super Clean Then .
See that clear dropper used in the vid? It fits inside spray can tips, so as soon as you're done painting, pop the tip off the rattle can & flush it with paint thinner 😎
That’s cool as hell!! Thanks!😃✌🏻
Who-Dey Was originally spelled Hu-dey after a local brewery Hudepohl . The chant survived the beer's on its last leg I think. The wild decals made me think of that for reasons unknown.lol
Nice job, I think I’m going to need to add this one to my stash. Can this be built as a fliptop funny car?
Another great build Chris. Could you tell me what paint booth you use? I use spray cans and am looking for a booth that can exhaust the overspray. Thanks.
Super cool
can you use the tamiya mark fit on the windows ??
Mark fit is a decal softener, not a glue.
@@hpiguy I mean using the mark fit on the windows for decals or is it just for the body panels ?
I noticed you glued chrome to chrome. I've always had to scrape the chrome to get the pieces to stick. Is it the type of glue or me not being patient enough?
To use model glue you must remove the chrome, plastic to plastic only.
Super glue will bond anything to anything.
@@hpiguy 10-4. You'll have to pardon my ignorance. I didn't realize what you were using. Thank you!
What do you use for glue?
Bondene
Great video hpiguy
Thank you for all the answers to my questions. Got another question for you. Do you wash all the pieces in the kits that you put together on your videos? And what do you use to wash the parts with?
What is the liquid you're putting on with the super glue?
Activator, sets it instantly.
@@hpiguy awesome thank you!
Awesome
I just have to ask, once you build all of these models, do you put them on a shelf with other ones you have built? if so, you must have a huge space to put them all.
Is that Bumblebee?
Am I a bad person for looking at this happy hippie Beetle and wanting to glue plastic spikes all over it to make it look like something from Fury Road?
Have you seen the video where the guy rip's us modelers who use Rust Oleum paints on models? Other then the smell, I have no problems with it.
Yeah, He ACTS Like He's Paying For It 🤬🤬
Thats about right!
I hear about it all the time.
I don't dive into that drama, I just keep making my models and having a great time and I hope those folks enjoy their hobby their way as well.
All I want is for all modelers to enjoy themselves in the way they choose to make their models. :)
👍👍👍
Oh god that engine assembly! too much chrome
I agree, needs a dip in the purple pond!
The instructions on this kit is just terrible they don't explain or show where anything gose its just one angle
In the engine instructions, numbers 3 and 6 I can't find those pieces. Step 3 has piece #45 and step 6 has piece #19... Anyone know what I'm missing?
