Thank you Alena. This really helps. I especially appreciate tutorial videos in spoken English. English is my native tongue, but even I can see it is not an easy language. There are so many exceptions to the rules. You do very well with it and are easy to understand. Your accent is quite charming too. 😉. I'm very thankful for your effort and want you to know that I don't take it for granted whenever I am able to listen to others speaking English. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for your very informative tutorial. I also bought the small size and am now buying them individually, difficult to follow tutorials when I don't have all the pencils and I love them. I watch all your tutorials and enjoy them very much as well as learn. Thank you for taking the time to share with those who are just learning and to learn color combinations which I have difficulty with.

Hi Elena! First I bought the 36 set, than I realized I liked them so much that I bought the other 36 pencils on open stock. I am currently using them on a picture of Dagdrommar/Hanna Karlzon´s book. They are simply wonderful pencils! I like all their vibrancy and bright colors :)

Hello there. THANK YOU so much for this tutorial. It is so very informative. Like everyone else, I bought my Derwent Inktense pencils about 8 months ago but was too timid to really dive into them. I use to paint in oils and blending was so easy. After years of painting in oils and all the clean up, I decided to challenge Prismacolor Pencils and the technique of blending, which was different. Then I saw the Derwent Inktense pencils and the vivid colors, I was pulled into that, but then went on with coloring with Prismacolor, because I just could not figure out the combinations, and when I tried coloring a leaf, it looked horrible, and I would get discourage and put them up again. It looks so easy when professionals show you how but a mess when I try! So....as you suggested to others who left comments, I guess like everything else, practice, practice, practice. I have also watched Peta Hewitt's videos but your video pulled me in because it was for beginners.

I highly recommend to try to use them on really good paper (like watercolor paper in Jade Gideon books or paper in Jasmine Becket-Griffith books or Flower Year by Duly) where paper doesn't sucks up the water very quickly so the pigment hardly moves at all. If paper let Inktense pigment to flow, you will like these pencils!

Thank You Alena for this great tutorial, i have the full set of Inktense Pencils but i haven't worked with yet because i didn't know how to start and intimidated with these so with your great advices and some very great informative tips that would be time to me to gave it a try. Love your work, you are so talented & creative it's a real Gift to watch your tutorials! Have you the Neocolours 2 from Caran D'arche i would love to see a video tutorial just like this one and have your opinion on these pencils because before buying these i would like to know if it's worthed, thank you Alena!

Thank you Sylvie and sorry for the late reply! I also didn't know what to do with my small Inktense set when I bought them... I tried to draw, but colors and mixing was unusual... So only after watching great Peta Hewitt video of Inktenses in coloring book I started to learn how to work with them. And I'm learning still! even after a year of using them I still try to discover interesting new color combinations.
Unfortunately I never tried Neocolours. I watch a lot of videos with them, they look fantastic - bright and soft, and it would be a dream to try, but they aren't available in my country... and the price to buy abroad is slightly out of my budget for now.
