Thinking about doing this setup with a 9950X, 4090 FE, and a 280mm Liquid Freezer III. Do you think there would be enough clearance for the 280mm LFIII with A12x25 fans and the NA-SFMA1 adapters? I figured the thickness of the T30 fans is bigger than the A12x25s with the adapter so I should be okay, but wanted to get your opinion. I COULD just do the 240mm version but figured the 280mm version wouldn't hurt, especially if it fits.
I just got this case and I'm planning to do top 240 AIO as intake with a conventional reference layout meaning the gpu on the bottom. I might have to play around with the motherboard placement depending on the thickness of my GPU and might consider slim fans for the AIO. Unfortunately it seems that there's ZERO information online about this configuration. No one has even tried it which boggles my mind considering it's the cleanest config by far. I have that coming. I’m not a huge fan of tower coolers so I choose to use low profile coolers and want to build the reference layout with the IS-67 from ID Cooling with a T-30 or Lian Li TL LCD fan with the TG panel NCASE sent me. Like the other guy said, this case can do almost everything you want it to do and it comes at a relatively good price and quality.
Excellent review! CPU thermals would probably be better if you intake from the rad and exhaust out the bottom. Or VGPU with top exhaust and vertical GPU to more closely match the T1. Currently using internal air to push through the relatively small internals of the case outwards is probably why your T1 is winning. (Little engineer note: Heat rising is due to a force called free convection, it's an EXTREMELY weak force that is outpowered as soon as any fan enters. The T1 exhausting air likely runs cooler as the negative pressure turns the whole side panel into an intake.)
@@chrisrussellca Interesting! Thanks for sharing. I'm heavily debating T1 vs M2 for custom CPU-only loop. Definitely would choose a T-Grill with T30's, might get it anodized in silver myself.

Great review, build, and test details! I’m curious if the T1 is also inverted? I imagine you would get better thermals on the M2 with the standard config… though the inverted config looks super clean 👌
I personally think the Ncase M2 will be a mighty-fine case for anyone who wants to get started in the SFF PC space, and its high configurability will make it pleasant for a large number of people. The only problem I have with this case is that it has nothing in line with the original Ncase M1 which was lauded for its simple build process and superb quality (mainly because it was designed with one goal in mind rather than trying to take on every single potential build). I also think it is quite large with the dimensions putting it about a liter or two in size above the Ncase M1
Some sacrifices had to be made. I agree, it’s better to be a specialist than a generalist when it comes to quality but the quality isn’t bad but could use improvement.
@@chrisrussellca Lot of people complaining on reddit about the newer builds. It's super easy to strip the threads from the screw holes when installing the case components. I just built a system with it today and can confirm. You really have to be careful installing the screws, they're stainless steel fine threads going into aluminum threaded holes. Two-finger tight is all they can take, if you wrap your hand around the screwdriver and tighten the way you normally would you will easily strip the threads. @@jgalt99 I’ve been seeing a lot of mixed reviews. As a case it’s good but there seems to be some QC issues and issues with quality, especially screws. Honestly something you’d expect to be top tier as it shouldn’t cost that much to send good screws.

@chrisrussellca thank you for your M2 reviews both with the LF3 and the D12L. I am currently planning a M2 build with 9950X3D and 5090FE once released. Originally I was planning with the D12L cpu cooler, but now that the 5090FE's dual blow through fan design was revealed, I am worried the CPU will suffer a lot from the GPU's heat exhaust directly into the D12L. So I thought, maybe it would be better to have a classic layout with GPU intakes from bottom, LF3 with side intake, and exhaust fans at the top. What are your thoughts on this topic, which configuration do you think would be most useful?
You know, I like luxurious looking cases and the M2 doesn’t quite scratch that itch for me. It’s looks good but it doesn’t look like the T1. It’s a great case is you just care about getting the best results for the size and price.
Great video and great build!!! Brother, there is a way to flip the case, so you have the GPU on the bottom side. On the Ncase homepage, when clicking on the case, there is an animation. As far as I see it, all you have to do is flip the back and side panels 180 degree. Can you check whether that gives better cooling? And yes the feet are indeed very short...
Would you consider flipping the AIO fans as intake and the bottom case fans as exhaust? It should help guide all the hot air from your GPU/CPU/PSU into one direction (downward) instead of the bottom fans intaking hot PSU air and the AIO intaking hot GPU air.
i think the Meshroom S V2 fits the title of "last case you will ever need" better since it fits full ATX with large GPU and radiator support, all while being smaller than the NCASE M2
I tried to build mine with an 280 AIO bild according to the Build 8 but it was impossible to get the radiator to fit. Went with an aircooler instead and and works great. Feel like a custom loop with a thinner radiator would be better since the tubes on AIOs are too long. Good video and awesome content and editing🤘
@@CaesarJuliuss Currently I´m using a 9800X3D and a 4080 Super, and changed cooling to a Peerless Assassin 120 Mini. Added a 92mm fan as intake in the back and a 140mm on the side to push out the warm air from the CPU-cooler.
Huh, I got the Sama IM01 cuz of the ability the put an matx mobo + atx psu. This posted just as my case is being delivered lol. It looks sleek, but I don't like the orientation of the PSU since it's pulling hot air from the inside of the case (if using matx mobo) Edit: just realized that the layout is almost exactly the same as the sama im01 and nr200, without the ability to add intake/exhaust fans on the top & bottom without using a riser cable for the gpu. I'm less tempted to get it now over the im01 😅
I’ve been following the m1evo/m2 case developments for ages but ultimately decided not to go for it. My giant GPU needs vertical mounting and the compromise would be poor airflow to the motherboard components. I hate that there’s no option for a back-to-back sandwich layout like the T1 case.
just got the terra and now I'm wondering if i was better off with the t1, didn't know about it at the time, the t1 probably doesn't have the same noise issues as with the terra and probably better air cooling with those mesh panels, any feedback? i could potentially make a last minute change
The T1 is a great case (the Terra also), it also has a fair share of compromises such as build difficulty, limited AIO support and product availability for the popular color options. However it does offer better overall cooling capabilities with the AIO support, while taking up slightly less space than the Terra. Also the build quality on the T1 is miles ahead.
Hi, I'm planning a build with this case once the rtx 50 cards are released. Do you know what gpu clearance you get using an sfxl psu? Love the camera work
The advantage of the M2 over the T1 is future mobo support, since if we do switch to CAMM2 memory modules the ITX standard will not support it. And with the M2 you won't need to rely on buying new expensive riser cables for future GPUS.
Hi Chris, is this M2 build still working smoothly? I have the same mainboard, and I'm planning to buy the Arctic Liquid Freezer III 240, but I'm not so sure about mounting the pump upside-down (like you did with this build) since Arctic itself doesn't recommend doing that.
Well you should mount it correctly, which is upside down if your using the inverted layout. However I’d strongly recommend going with the normal “reference” style with the GPU at the bottom, organic airflow to the top.
You shouldn’t have any issues, you could go bigger however but if you want something super lowkey and simple then the NR200 setup would do good in the M2
Yes, there are some people working on 3D files for a GPU support that would attach to the top radiator bracket. Unfortunately that would require you to get a second bracket as the M2 only ships with one bracket. They sent me two so it wouldn’t be a problem. I did have success using this bracket….amzn.to/3CPwitC
Great video! I really like this case, but I feel like the classic layout with the GPU at the bottom and a high quality < 145 mm air cooler is the way to go. Really tempted by this case, however I just enjoy my current Dan A4 H2O build too much. The thermals on that are also insanely good, especially by SFF standards.
Another major CON is the issues with stripped screw/threads. After trying different orientation setup back to back, my panels threads have become stripped which forced me to switch to a different case until I hear back from Ncase support for either a replacement or refund. Honestly, I'm no longer very confident with building this case because it wont hold up to multiple assembly/disassembly!
That’s what noticed too, I put cases through more wear and tear as I build in them multiple times before a review comes out. However the M2 has performed the worst in terms of wear and tear.
The B650E-I is more than enough, also the shrouds on the X670E-I are really tall and can cause issues with some coolers. Just do the research on the clearance needed for the PA12 Mini. To answer your question, yes I can recommend the X670E-I also, it’s just an expensive jump from the B series and may come with things you don’t need.
@@chrisrussellca thx very much fpr.the help. do you think a rx7900xtx nitro which is 3.6 slot thick would have enough air in.the classic m2 config where the gpu intakes air from.bottom? cant get 2 intake fans because of 3.6 slots but using the ncase 15mm high case feet ?
@ well you may not need the fans, it should be enough clearance even if you can fit fans. If you want fans look into slim fans like the P12 Slim or Noctua NF-A12X15.
@@chrisrussellca thx. woth this gpu 3.6 slot there is a clearance like 12mm to the bottom.panel so no fans fit. so you say it would be enough the fan feet 15mm would be enough? you are a experienced builder so do you think there would be turbulence of tge gpu fans with the near bottom panel?
It’s a valid concert however you can always go with normal sized 120mm fans versus the thicker Phanteks T-30s or going with a cooler with a normal thickness radiator. I tried the ATMOS 240 with the T-30s and it fit well.
I'm leaning towards the T1, I want a compact case that I can take with me when a I travel (only about twice a year), I also really wanted the Arctic Liquid Freezer III but looks like that can't fit in the T1. But I think I will go an air cooled T1 for my final build, but I love seeing other options :)
Just finished installing a 4090 with a 9800x3d, asus b650e-i, Thermaltake TH280, and 2 addional fans underneath on a NR200P V2. Max GPU temps are 67 degrees underload and 72 degrees on the CPU under gaming load after 3 hours. Very impressed.

Hi I am planning to almost do the same soon, can you elaborate why it didn't work out, and what was the solution and how did it work and what are temps?
@@chrisrussellca I decided to opt for a Noctua NH-D12L for this reason. Still cools adequately for my CPU and just about fits the M2. Just waiting for a couple of fans to arrive and then I should be ready to build. This is a downsize from a huge Phantek Evolv X that weighs six million tons. 😃 Looking at your build, it does look as if you have some pipework higher than the pump, so hopefully any air that forms will be there and not in the pump. Those blue cables look very nice. 👍
their fan brackets are wayy too restrictive. they shold have made a straightmetal bracket that you can move for eitehr 120 140 fan support and then optional brackets for sata mounts. These panels are so restrictive and i dont know why. Everything else is practically perfect
They’re also not the greatest quality, scratches on first use. I’m waiting or a company to make plastics screws that don’t scuff. I know there are some low noise screws but not for radiators

(aio & air cooled) and i'm verry happy with the case, build experience & quality is a 10/10. I do find it odd to see the side by side temperature comparisation to have a slight advantage for the t1. anyone else that has both cases and see simular results?
Well the T1 needs the TGrill to get that advantage, for out of the box performance, the M2 takes the lead. For the purpose of the test I wanted to use the T-30s for both and you can only do that with the TGrill.
watching this feels too much like watching that australian guy who does itx cases. watching his videos make me feel like i'm watching a dirty movie. i'm pretty sure his wife's got a bf or six and he's probably woke too. please do your own thing.
Your whole build just isnt balanced... I would have went for a D12L and wouldnt bother with AIO. Remove bottom intake fans, put them on top after dropping mobo all the way down
Well in this orientation the 4080 is pulling air from the top, down and out the side mounted radiator, an advertised layout from NCASE. Now rather or not it’s a good layout, that’s a different story. Your setup would work but this is a partially liquid cooled build, I rarely air cool unless it’s in the T1. This is a review and the case isn’t even assembled anymore. It’s in the T1 e-white with the TGrill at the moment. So I wouldn’t use this configuration for a personal setup but just wanted to showcase a popular setup for this case. If I was using the M2 long term I’d opt to vertically mount the GPU, do a bottom intake and have the AIO exhausting to the top. I believe that’s level 9, unfortunately they didn’t have any vertical GPU kits when they sent the sample.

Is it possible to install 2x140mm on the bottom in this configuration?
Hmm you need to be mindful of the PSU as it will compete with space at the bottom.
To mount AIO i have to buy an extra bracket from the website? I want to make my build just like yours. Thanks.
Update: i just gonna go for the m2 grater, i am gonna stil able to copy your build but just m2 grater? Thanks
how long did it take to arrive
It took me about 5 business days not including weekend.
Hi great build, do you think I can do your Nr200p build in this case ?
Yes, 100%. Do you mean the ID Cooling IS-55 with the Phanteks T-30?
@@chrisrussellcaYes ?
You shouldn’t have any issues, you could go bigger however but if you want something super lowkey and simple then the NR200 setup would do good in the M2
@@chrisrussellca Thank you so much.🙏🏽
Does the GPU sag in this config?
Yes, there are some people working on 3D files for a GPU support that would attach to the top radiator bracket. Unfortunately that would require you to get a second bracket as the M2 only ships with one bracket. They sent me two so it wouldn’t be a problem. I did have success using this bracket….amzn.to/3CPwitC
what should I say, I love mine.
I went with the VGPU config, cramming an arctic liquid freezer 3 280 and a 4090 in there, it's a *tight* fit.
What mobo are you using?

@@Callsign_Jaegeroh hey, I saw your build on pc part picker. How is temps/noise and dust? And why did you choose to go v gpu?
@@escaaaaaa893 ASUS Rog Strix X870-I
Great video!
Totally agree, thanks!
@@chrisrussellca I ended up getting a full refund after returning the flatpack. I decided to skip the M2 gen and go for the Louqe
GHOST R1 instead.
@ I hope that one serves your purpose.
more m2!!plz!!

can.you recommend the x670e? is it better than.the b650e-i. dont know which should i get. wamt.to go with a thermalright pa12 mini air cooler.
@ what’s the thickness of the card? In milimeters
This is a nice configuration, but kinda worried kinking the aio tubes
It’s a valid concert however you can always go with normal sized 120mm fans versus the thicker Phanteks T-30s or going with a cooler with a normal thickness radiator. I tried the ATMOS 240 with the T-30s and it fit well.
@@chrisrussellca Yeah, I would probably go for 280 artic III and then get some noctua fans. Hopefully it will fit too
I'm leaning towards the T1, I want a compact case that I can take with me when a I travel (only about twice a year), I also really wanted the Arctic Liquid Freezer III but looks like that can't fit in the T1.
But I think I will go an air cooled T1 for my final build, but I love seeing other options :)
The LF3 doesn’t fit in the T1 in any configuration. The ATMOS is very competent however.
Nice setup! Enjoy! Those are some nice temps!
@chrisrussellca Thanks man. I'm glad the portable rig is finally complete.
Just got some addional parts for my main rig at home.

Thermaltake Tower 600
Thermaltake 420 Aio.
Then a 5090 upon release.
Which case do you prefer more amd why?
I prefer the T1 as its build better in my opinion and it’s really compact. Love that you can fit powerful components in a 10l case.
Nice video! Love from South Korea. Would there be any plan on reviewing the Shiny Snake S400?
I don’t have a video in planning for that but can look into it, it’s great when viewers recommend video ideas to me.
Have no idea how you managed to just bend those AIO tubes. I have the same M2 case too, 280 LF3 and boy it was not fitting. Had to install 4080 on the side using riser.
Hi I am planning to almost do the same soon, can you elaborate why it didn't work out, and what was the solution and how did it work and what are temps?
What would concern me about a side mounted AIO is the fact the pump is so high, with the risk of air forming in the pump.
You’re correct, I think it works if you plan it out but I didn’t plan that aspect out when I did the build.
@@chrisrussellca
I decided to opt for a Noctua NH-D12L for this reason. Still cools adequately for my CPU and just about fits the M2.
Just waiting for a couple of fans to arrive and then I should be ready to build. This is a downsize from a huge Phantek Evolv X that weighs six million tons. 😃
Looking at your build, it does look as if you have some pipework higher than the pump, so hopefully any air that forms will be there and not in the pump.

I know there are some low noise screws but not for radiators
i'm thinking of getting the M2 (mainly for the better GPU compatibility for the future.), i currently have a T1 in wich i have done a couple of builds in.

Your whole build just isnt balanced... I would have went for a D12L and wouldnt bother with AIO. Remove bottom intake fans, put them on top after dropping mobo all the way down
What do you mean by not balanced?
@@chrisrussellca Fair enough. I prefer Air coolers over AIO when there is room for a twin tower cooler like a D12L. But thats me!
@@zafert85I also wanted D12L or Peerless assassin 120 mini. Until I saw arctic freezer III 280 were 14c lower than assassin mini.
