      Well, if someone spends 40000$ min on a car, they won't be buying Ford or Chevy. They will be shopping for BMW, Mercedes, Toyota Supra. And people who buy those will definitely be excited about their cars and things they can do.

      When entering the "world of adults" it's been fascinating to me to listen all kinds of people's view of the world. Other people's minds, no matter the age, are a huge resource in my opinion, as many thinkers have already crunched a complex matter into bite-sized wisdom in their heads. I can then incorporate (while being critical of course) that wisdom into my thought process to create my own unique way of looking at the world and the truths it holds. Then I can use that vision to add value to myself and others.

    The essential reason why Tesla has asked for better deals from its suppliers is the vastly different scale of the orders Tesla now places with them. When the Model S went into production in 2012, Tesla was producing hundreds of cars per week, not thousands. Many suppliers wouldn't even talk to them. Tesla's current production volume is at least a magnitude greater.

I went to a supercharger and my car was charging at over 200 miles an hour for free! Tesla is the most American car you can possibly buy. Ark has assigned analysts from ai, robotics, energy and auto to value the stock, and they're extremely bullish. Their target is $4k/share around 2023. Tencent just bought 5% of Tesla, trying to beat other Chinese companies to the stock. Fidelity and T. Rowe price have large investments. And even "Mr. Wonderful" has come around. We say the first two all the time to people saying that X number of cars = X amount of market cap to say that Tesla is overvalued. Now people are saying that lopping off a money making part of the business makes another part of the business more valuable because it can solve a problem Tesla does not have.
      The female interviewer said to Baron that without Dealers Tesla doesn't have someone to buy their inventory and counted it a disadvantage. Whiled dealerships are privately held they represent a money making industry that is able to take money out of the system between the auto makers and the auto end buyers. If they were not needed they represent money in the auto makers' or the auto end buyers' pocket. This is a shell game accounting trick hiding a liability without acknowledging an accompanying asset.

    10-15% of fuel converts to forward motion in an ice car, rest is lost as heat. Think the grid is about 60% efficient converting fossil fuel to electricity at the point of use. Even with loses charging the car, still way better. Most of the energy in EV battery is used on forward motion. Then the car becomes greener as more renewables feed in the grid.

    From a business model perspective, the dealer network that the car companies have required a second profit center with significant costs and Tesla only has one profit center because it does not have and independant deler network and therefore will always have a lower cost structure. I don't see how they will be able to compete with Tesla's single profit center in the long run.

    • @frankspeaking2630
      @frankspeaking2630 5 лет назад +4

      Tesla is still going to need Service and delivery centres, especially as volumes ramp up all over the US, but not the old dealer model, just short term holding and transition centres, maybe one or two per state and maybe authorised service centers or owned service centers, there are some handy EV and auto enthusiast that do have repair centers or service shops around, but it would have to be tightly monitored. Not expecting car problems, but with mass production there will always be the outlier

    • @motoarzan791
      @motoarzan791 4 года назад +1

      And as solar panels get cheaper more and more people will charge up from the sun not the power plants. There is also the potential that all these "sun" charged cars can be left plugged in and act as a collective of battery peaker plants. example. I can leave my car plugged in all the time at home and allocate a percentage of the battery (charged by the sun) and the grid can potentially buy Kw of energy from my car during peak times or power outages...

    • @darcflame37
      @darcflame37 4 года назад

      You know everyone is out to get Tesla when they miss the comparison completely. Oil has to be refined and the process requires other materials and lots of energy and infrastructure, not to mention drilling for oil and shipping it and all other materials. This adds a significant amount to ICE inefficiency and total cost per unit of energy but no one seems to want to admit/talk about *that* part of the equation. The same is true for electricity unless you use renewables, although electricity just does not need to be refined and machines exist that can efficiently use it. So basically there is an efficient was to use and produce it, otherwise it's just as bad as oil.

    Considering that the SEC moved to have Elon removed from his CEO position and after listening to this... who can honestly tell me the SEC was fair, impartial and balanced in trying to get that to happen in light of the heinous things other companies have done and never calling for the CEO to loose their position.
    Who where they looking out for? Not the investors, not the country and not the public.

    • @mariacobretti

      because he had no bad intentions with his 420 tweet, actually trying to be as transparent as possible with all shareholders while being able to talk to major shareholders about going private. And yes, his intention does matter. On top of that he didnt make financial gains out of it anyways which would also be required for him to be guilty of the SECs accusations. They would lose this lawsuit you realise that right? the only reason for Elon to settle this is because this would be the only topic thrown into the publics faces by the media instead of talking about the company.

    • @bigdream_dreambig

      The judge is reviewing the settlement for fairness and may choose to reject it. "Everyone" is saying that this means Musk and Tesla are likely to lose their "sweetheart deal," but I wonder if things might actually fall the other way -- if the judge might say that the SEC is the one being unfair.

    • @redxsage

      The SEC is historically heinous when it comes to trumped up accusations against new companies in the automotive industry. Their _'investigation'_ of TUCKER found nothing untoward. Yet it lasted just long enough for the firm to default on loans and go out of business. Someone made some phone calls and pulled in some favors to make Tesla a target. Who was _'damaged'_ by Elon Musk's tweete, anyway?

    In regards to pulling electric power off the grid to charge your vehicle and burning Petro fuels. Power plants (coal, natural gas and nuclear) run about 35 to 40% efficiency due to they need cooling towers to condense the steam back to a fluid. While combustion engines are around 20% efficient and Electric car batteries are around 80% efficient. If the power plant is a combined cycle system it can be up to 80% efficient. Meaning the extracting steam from the turbines that produce the power can be used in a process that requires heat energy thereby condensing the steam into the needed boiler feed water to be reused. Also, utility grids usually has some form of renewable energy (hydroelectric, solar, wind, Biomass and geothermal). For example, in British Columbia, Canada the percentage of renewable energy is about 94% of the Provinces utility system. Also fossil based power plants Emission are more efficient then combustion engines ( i.e - Nitrogen oxides and sulphur oxide’s, carbon monoxide, the percentage of unburned fuel and the extra heat energy) that is released to the atmosphere. Also, due to renewable energy becoming cheaper utility systems and other investment businesses are building more renewable energy utility systems. This is a basic explanation why charging your vehicle is much better for the environment then burning petrol fuel‘s in combustion engines.

    • @markplott4820
      @markplott4820 5 лет назад +2

      whereas an ALL Renewable Energy system with battery Storage is close to 90% Efficient and emits ZERO carbon emissions . With a Single GWh class Renewable energy and storage, you can provide extra energy at Peak Times for 4 Hours in Daylight or save it for Night and it will slowly discharge overnight, beginning the process at 6am.

      Just to clarify... ("They" WILL question!)
      1) That's "zero emmision" AFTER the cost / pollution of building (which *is* at worst equal to, but usually *much* less than a "conventional" power station).
      2) Also, contrary to "their" (usual) forthcoming argument, the wind often blows at night! (OMG!!) Unless skydaddy stops the earth spinning! (Sorry, sarcasm, I had to!).
      3) YES! Renewables CAN be recycled! ("They" should really give up on that one!)
      Try that with a coal or "Unclear" powerstation! (LOTS of energy!!)
      And finally
      4) "Ah! but when fusion arrives" is still a "WHEN".... some would say "IF". And would take years of planning.
      Plus it actually advances the EV argument.
      ........
      OK..... Done..... I'm off to take my anti-sarcasm pill.... Really!!

      No no no no no.
      Grid-scale pumped-storage hydroelectric power plants (a form of gravitational battery as energy is stored by moving water from a low reservoir to a high reservoir, then released by letting it flow back down into the low reservoir) are about 80% efficient, round trip. That's a _low_ efficiency by battery standards, usually it's well above 95% in modern lithium-ion batteries.

      There may be a literal "power struggle" approaching.
      If equatorial countries (often poor) invest in and take full advantage of renewable (wind / solar) technology, they will make great gains economically. If the bottom drops out of the oil market, those "oil countries" that have transitioned (OPEC?) will be OK.
      Those that haven't........... (You know who I mean?)

      If Tesla doesn't develop a great new battery technology is will be a dead company. The success of the future cars depends on that battery that does not exist yet. All the other car makers (companies that are making a profit) have the same borderline battery technology. Their solar technology also depends on that same battery that does not exist yet. So right now Tesla is speculative. Good luck with it.

      I have also wondered if the premanufactured vehicles weren't for another reason, we know there have been bottleneck etc issues on the production line and all sorts of changes have been happening in that regard, you would't put a customers pre ordered customised vehicle through as a "test" vehicle, you would use a "mule" so a premanufactured one would be ideal and by far the majority of those would be perfect.
      Just a wild thought, but it is what I would do, kill two birds with one stone

    • @craigyorke3175

      To back up what "Frank Speaking" says here, Tesla was caught with an unexpected demand for dual motor models. Rather than producing nothing while waiting for new inventory of the front motor they built the most likely models to be sold. I figure Tesla could almost build anything right now and if they posted on their website "here is what Model 3's we have" they would be grabbed in an instant.

They aren't going to want to sell or promote EVs. And if they do, they will have parts that are designed to fail so they profit more. The business model of Tesla is one of the main reasons why their cars are such a good life investment.

      First, every person on the planet hates buying a car at a dealership. Then after you get through that horrible experience you always wonder if you overpaid or didn't haggle enough. Who wants to go through that? Tesla is adding service locations at an amazing rate and is developing an excellent network of repair vehicles that come to your home or work for service calls, and lastly EV's require a lot less service. So I for one much much more prefer the Tesla sales and service model. I have a Toyota pickup and a BMW sports car. My next vehicle will be a Tesla Model Y and for sure a Tesla pickup.

    Electric motors go at 95% efficiency, ICEs are at 30% (lot of wasted heat). Even burning coal produced centrally is more efficient than producing power using a local combustion engine (otherwise we would power our homes with a diesel engine right?). You can also charge your car at off-peak times when a lot of power is wasted otherwise. Finally the grid is constantly getting cleaner. Many reasons why EV are cleaner than ICEs
