Moving to Norway is a BIG dream of my wife and I's. We both have Norwegian heritage and being able to relocate to Norway to live out our years is something that we are looking forward to doing. Thanks for all the videos you have done!! These videos are great to watch as well as you share a lot of great information of what's happening right now.
This reminds me of an American couple from the state of Washington, that moved to my hometown in 1972, the man was 65 and retired and his wife were 61, she died 34 years later, and the man died some 44 years later (Aged 109), and was for about a year the oldest person in Norway. They thought they they may have 10 years in Norway, but it almost became a lifetime, they travelled back to family marriages and holidays, he had been a farmer, and he kept the American local daily paper to his death. Of course , things were easier back then, immigration was a breeze, just a promise not to cost Norwegian taxpayers anything...... but as George said: I've been to the hospital quite a lot, and so had my wife, we never got any bill, and the stay at the old peoples home were he expired cost him nothing. The tax treaty beteween Norway and US exempted them for any tax on US income or pension. Today I guess immigration is not so simple, even if I today heard that a US citizen got to stay even he had been threatened with deportation when his Icelandic(!) fiancee died, theymoved to Norway last year, and Icelandic people and all people from the Nordics can settle freely, even if they don't have a job, this guy had a job, and wanted to stay, even if his fiancee died.
We're living in Germany and visited Norway in October. It was such a beautiful country, but very expensive! We hope to go back and explore more than just Bergen, Oslo, and Tromsø. Great video!
We spent a little over 3 weeks in Norway this past December/January. We flew in to Bergen from the U.S., and stayed at an AirB&B for about 5 days before departing on a 12 day cruise along the Norwegian coastline with Hurtigruten. After our cruise, we took the train from Bergen to Oslo and stayed at another AirB&B in the Grünerløkka area. It was an amazing trip and everyone was so friendly. I did learn a little conversational Norwegian, and it was helpful and appreciated. If anyone is considering a trip to Norway, I would recommend it highly.

Hello Anna, thank you so much for your helpful videos. Last April 2022 we went to Norway for the first time and loved it. Your videos were very helpful as insight into the culture, appropriate clothing, and food. They helped us be prepared for our trip.
My husband and I will be taking our first trip to Norway this summer. We will be visiting Vinstra, Skarnes, Oslo, and Moss. Thank you for your videos! I appreciate any sight-seeing recommendations and any traveling advice (we’ll be renting a car).
Oslo got a pretty heavy traffic compared to the rest of the country, especially during rush hour in the moring and afternoon, and can be hard to find parking down town. Many vistiors/tourists often just park their car in one of the smaller towns outside the Oslo city limits and go with the train into the center of Oslo. Less stressful;) In the center one got the Kings Castle, Opera House, Vigeland Park, and many of the most known attractions. Then one can follow a smaller train up in the hillside north of the center, Holmenkollen, for a nice view of the whole region.
Vinstra to Moss? Not really the most exiting parts of Norway. I would suggest to keep to coastal areas, specially west parts but if you got less time coastal areas in the east is pretty good too.
When you are in Moss you should considering driving through Fredrikstad and to Hvaler/Skjærhalden. Hvaler is a summer paradise with lots of little islands you can visit with a ferry (from Skjærhalden), you can even go island-hopping or rent a cabin on one of the islands (if you book early). It's about one hour from Moss, and one of the main places Norwegians go to have their summer vacation as it is very idyllic and has a lot of sun days!

Where is the Love button, not just the Thumbs up? The salmon looked so delicious along with many more fish from there. Traveled all the way to Kirkenes and safety was never an issue, would not do that in America right now. Svalbard is must on the travel list, maybe next time. Totally understand when Anna said she doesn't want to leave and before she starts crying, I get that feeling just from watching anything she does from Norway, miss it so much.

Impossible not to notice your heart-shaped eyes while talking about Norway 😍 After my summer experience, I'd not recommend the period between mid July and mid August if you want to travel on a budget and get in touch with locals (AKA couchsurfing), since the most people are on holiday. Available Airbnb accommodations in Bergen were overpriced, though not so central like the hotel I stayed in, that was much cheaper. Accommodation in Oslo was a bad experience: overpriced stay in a tiny three-bedroom with low-quality furniture and an unfriendly host. Just bad luck. I'd like to move to Norway in a couple of years, but avoiding Oslo. I mean, I like it, but it's quite crowded and rents are out of control. Trondheim would be my first choice, love at first sight. But also Bergen… hvorfor ikke? P.S.: Pretty sure you meant "I love you (plural)" -> Jeg elsker dere. Krysser fingrene, lykke til!
We are looking to sell our property in Colorado and move permanently to Norway with our family. Thank you for your videos they are insightful. We love our quiet, mountains and snow but need a change from the States. Are we crazy or on the right track? 😂
I just returned from Norway ( back to the US) after 10 days.. I loved it there.. Many of the places in your video are places I walked and recognize.. I also traveled to the Lofted Islands in the North of Norway.. Stunning beauty.. Great video !!
Hehe .. have happend once that I have read about .. maybe in the 50's that a polarbear managed to get to Norway's mainland.... but at Svalbard there can at times come polarbears near Longearbyen (the main town there) and people do get attacked by polarbears outside the town .... if they don't take precautions.

About cashless Norway, I was in Bødo last year on holidays. The bus station toilette access cost NOK 5,00 (around € 0.5) but a shopping center was close and save the day.
Welcome back! I recall watching your videos a few years back when I was planning to move to Norway. About two years later I'm about to move out.. I guess it's just not my type of place, the safety is sometimes boring :D Also, while everyone speaks English here, you're unlikely to get any work unless you know Norwegian (of course apart from manual labor jobs) or have luck and work in an international company (which isn't the case for me, cause I've settled randomly in a really rural area which doesn't have any international business) I would recommend making a video about budget travel here, as well as budget living.. as everything here is quite expensive compared to... the rest of the world really :D I hope you enjoy settling back in Norway

Nice to see you bak ! A good reason to live in Norway is the fresh air. You only have one set of lungs, take care of them! And where can you drink straight from a stream if you are thirsty on a walk in the forest or in the mountains? Or straight from the tap. The water is usually best from the tap, but mountain water is also delicious. And where can you walk in the woods and fields without being unsafe if you meet wild animals or scary people, Norway! Wild animals are more afraid of you than you are of them, but one animal should be avoided, moose with calf, because like most mothers, moose mother takes very good care of her young. THEN should you meet one, turn around immediately and go in the opposite direction! And I think you're right that you can talk to most people in English, but the younger ones are the best. I'm 60 myself, but I should probably be able to answer you! IF you should ask about something!

Norway has changed a lot in just ONE year? Hardly, I doubt that very much. I have lived in UK for 20 years but return to Norway at least once a year. It has not changed at all really, of course new roads now and then, some new buildings here and there, some more immigrants, currency has gone up and down, but apart from that it's the same.
If you want to save some money visiting Norway. Bring your water bottle and fill it up with tap water it is clean and taste good. An empty soda bottle will do the work just fine.
*Credit card and mobile phone app The audio is low. I have to listen carefully. Some parts I miss out but overall I get the point. If you want to save money, always shop in groceries; do not shop in kiosks and gas stations. It's like shopping in a grocery and insist to pay 25% more from the total.
I would have gone to a random grocery store instead to buy solo and kvikk lunsj would have saved a tiny bit of money hah! Its all about the Min/Maxxing for me lol

I have booked the train from Oslo to Bergen so I can explore both of the cities and experience the countryside a bit. Do you have any other suggestions? Knowing that English is common there is awesome but I’ve started learning Norsk a few years in advance of my trip and it’d be great if I could find more people who speak the language, native speakers or learners alike🤣 hard to find people to practice with where I’m from

It's been taken years too coming soo far with electrical cars, but it had some boom last few years soo. But it's actually just about 24% who are driving electrical cars, but about 60,000 new registrered into electrical cars yearly. But we have good standards with the vehicles soo there are pretty low noise from the cars.
Such a video might would include renting a 'camping hut', or staying in a Youth Hostel. Buying food at the lower priced shops like Rema1000, Kiwi, Prix, rather than going to restaurants every day)

Once again a great video! Just one comment, of course you cannot meet polar bears (???) on the streets but at least at the more close - to-the - forest neighborhoods like mine at Sognsvannsveien you can easily meet deers (especially at night) 😂

I'll be visiting for two weeks in the middle of June in Sogn og Fjordane, taking a road trip there from Oslo and doing lots of hiking ❤ I'm so excited but do have a lot of questions. Trying to save money by cooking for myself at the airbnb, what ingredients are available, cheapest ways to eat healthy, hiking snacks etc. Are public restrooms commonly available along the highways? Plenty of gas stations? Any tips for an American who's never driven through a roundabout? I wanna know everything 😂
Yes there are rest stops with public bathrooms, and gas stations. Also roadside restaurants, called a “kro”, which uses to be hot back in the day, tho not anymore. Even though Norway is clean in general, our roadside restrooms are not due to the high volume of traffic. Especially ahem* foreigners or tourists who doesn’t seem to know how to behave in a public bathroom. I’d highly suggest to use restrooms at the gas stations instead, but this depends as if very small they might not have any. Also perfectly fine to do nr. 1 outside, and even nr. 2, only if out in the wilderness, if you got toilet paper. Just not do it obvious or visibly. You will find most ingredients available unless outsourcing the bigger cities. If out on the countryside the selection varies. The most healthy is to cook from scratch and less processed and more whole foods… hiking snacks can be everything from fruits, nuts, sandwiches etc. It totally depends on your taste. Roundabouts are easy. Just remember to place your self in the correct lane, and use your blinkers properly both in and out to signal to the other drivers. When into any roundabout you always have to give way for incoming traffic from the right.
If you are on a budget, you get the cheapest food from Kiwi, Rema 1000, Coop Prix, Coop Extra, Spar and Eurospar stores. They all have their own house brands which are decent quality and considerably cheaper than other brands. They also sell food that is close to its expiration date at a discount but be aware that this is usually food that is expensive to start with so there may not be much to save. If you eat bread, shop early in the day and buy the cheapest kneip bread. It only costs about a dollar, tastes great the first day, perfectly good for a week or so and wonderful as toast all the time. As always of course, the more processed the food is, the more it costs. So cooking from base ingerdient is nearly always cheaper than buying ready made meals. Tomatoes are an exception here, chopped tomatoes in cartons tend to be cheaper than whole tomatoes and great for many kinds of sauces and soups. Norway has a reputation for being an expensive country but it's perfectly possible to eat well for five dollars a day, even as little as two or three if you're very careful how you shop. --- As for driving through roundabouts, there aren't really any special rules for them. But when you enter one, give way to the cars already in it, turn right and stay in the outer lane unless you are absolutely sure what you're doing.
@@kilipaki87oritahiti "When into any roundabout you always have to give way for incoming traffic from the _-right-_." NO NO NO! This is true only in countries who drive on the left. In Norway you have to give way to traffic from the Left in roundabouts. This means that you both have to yield to the traffic already in the roundabout when you're going in and to traffic in the inner lanes when you are in the roundabout, but you don't have to mind the traffic coming into the roundabout (from the right). Normally, on the road, you will yield to traffic from the right (unless directed otherwise by sign/traffic-light), but not in roundabouts (or more specifically; you are directed by a yield-sign when entering).
I’m very curious to know of your thoughts on my suggestion/recommendation (I’d made for you in my Comment to your prior Video-4 weeks ago) to consider investing in English and Norwegian Closed-Captioning/Subtitles (and, thus, improving upon “Deaf Accessibility” to overcome yet another communication barrier and reach more people: the deaf & Hard-Of-Hearing)? Not only that, but the Norwegian Closed-Captioning (Subtitles) could benefit us “Hearing” folks too; they’d be an excellent, invaluable tool that could help us English-speaking folks try and learn some Norwegian…I’d never ask you (or anyone) nosy, prying Questions (such as how much Money they make), but if you could budget Professional Closed-Captioning (English & Norwegian), Professionally-Composed English and Norwegian Closed-Captioning (Subtitles) might be a sound investment for either of your RUclips Channels, either way…Meanwhile, the Original/Auto-Generated English Closed-Captioning can remain up as a Secondary Option…Respectfully, if you could do this, deaf and HoH people would have a much easier time following whatever you’re saying in your Videos, and your Channel(s) would likely be viewed as more reputable than the many RUclips Channels out there that get by on Auto-Generated Closed-Captioning alone…For Instance: There are plenty of deaf Content Creators who could potentially have an easier time enjoying your Content if you provide good Closed-Captioning…Also, for any Talking “Stories” or “Reels” you post to your Instagram (I still haven’t looked you up on Instagram yet, by-the-way), IG now offers Auto-Generated Captions for those too, in form of a “Sticker” called “Captions” which could be a very useful tool to assure any Talking Videos in Instagram are “Deaf Accessible” as well…And just like the Auto-Generated Captions on RUclips, Auto-Generated Captions on Instagram can be edited too, in case the AI (Auto-Generated) Speech Recognition struggles to understand your Accent… . When I was responding to your Israel Video the other week, I forgot to mention that I’m ½-Jewish, since my Mom’s family is Jewish (Modern/Contemporary Jewish, that is)…But my Mom’s family is not from Israel, though…That said, I get to celebrate Hanukkah (in addition to Christmas), as well as Passover (in addition to Easter Sunday)…It’s always so exciting throwing in all those extra Holidays… . After my summer experience, I'd not recommend the period between mid July and mid August if you want to travel on a budget and get in touch with locals (AKA couchsurfing), since the most people are on holiday.
Available Airbnb accommodations in Bergen were overpriced, though not so central like the hotel I stayed in, that was much cheaper.
Accommodation in Oslo was a bad experience: overpriced stay in a tiny three-bedroom with low-quality furniture and an unfriendly host. Just bad luck.
I'd like to move to Norway in a couple of years, but avoiding Oslo. I mean, I like it, but it's quite crowded and rents are out of control.
Trondheim would be my first choice, love at first sight. But also Bergen… hvorfor ikke?

Hehe .. have happend once that I have read about .. maybe in the 50's that a polarbear managed to get to Norway's mainland.... but at Svalbard there can at times come polarbears near Longearbyen (the main town there) and people do get attacked by polarbears outside the town .... if they don't take precautions.

About cashless Norway, I was in Bødo last year on holidays. The bus station toilette access cost NOK 5,00 (around € 0.5) but a shopping center was close and save the day.

Welcome back! I recall watching your videos a few years back when I was planning to move to Norway. About two years later I'm about to move out.. I guess it's just not my type of place, the safety is sometimes boring :D Also, while everyone speaks English here, you're unlikely to get any work unless you know Norwegian (of course apart from manual labor jobs) or have luck and work in an international company (which isn't the case for me, cause I've settled randomly in a really rural area which doesn't have any international business) I would recommend making a video about budget travel here, as well as budget living.. as everything here is quite expensive compared to... the rest of the world really :D I hope you enjoy settling back in Norway

Nice to see you bak ! A good reason to live in Norway is the fresh air. You only have one set of lungs, take care of them! And where can you drink straight from a stream if you are thirsty on a walk in the forest or in the mountains? Or straight from the tap. The water is usually best from the tap, but mountain water is also delicious. And where can you walk in the woods and fields without being unsafe if you meet wild animals or scary people, Norway! Wild animals are more afraid of you than you are of them, but one animal should be avoided, moose with calf, because like most mothers, moose mother takes very good care of her young. THEN should you meet one, turn around immediately and go in the opposite direction! And I think you're right that you can talk to most people in English, but the younger ones are the best. I'm 60 myself, but I should probably be able to answer you! IF you should ask about something!

Norway has changed a lot in just ONE year? Hardly, I doubt that very much. I have lived in UK for 20 years but return to Norway at least once a year. It has not changed at all really, of course new roads now and then, some new buildings here and there, some more immigrants, currency has gone up and down, but apart from that it's the same.
If you want to save some money visiting Norway. Bring your water bottle and fill it up with tap water it is clean and taste good. An empty soda bottle will do the work just fine.

If you want to save money, always shop in groceries; do not shop in kiosks and gas stations. It's like shopping in a grocery and insist to pay 25% more from the total.

It's been taken years too coming soo far with electrical cars, but it had some boom last few years soo. But it's actually just about 24% who are driving electrical cars, but about 60,000 new registrered into electrical cars yearly. But we have good standards with the vehicles soo there are pretty low noise from the cars.

Such a video might would include renting a 'camping hut', or staying in a Youth Hostel. Buying food at the lower priced shops like Rema1000, Kiwi, Prix, rather than going to restaurants every day)

It would be so great if you did a video on traveling in Norway on a budget! I'll be visiting for two weeks in the middle of June in Sogn og Fjordane, taking a road trip there from Oslo and doing lots of hiking ❤ I'm so excited but do have a lot of questions. Trying to save money by cooking for myself at the airbnb, what ingredients are available, cheapest ways to eat healthy, hiking snacks etc. Are public restrooms commonly available along the highways? Plenty of gas stations? Any tips for an American who's never driven through a roundabout? I wanna know everything 😂
Yes there are rest stops with public bathrooms, and gas stations. Also roadside restaurants, called a “kro”, which uses to be hot back in the day, tho not anymore. Even though Norway is clean in general, our roadside restrooms are not due to the high volume of traffic. Especially ahem* foreigners or tourists who doesn’t seem to know how to behave in a public bathroom. I’d highly suggest to use restrooms at the gas stations instead, but this depends as if very small they might not have any. Also perfectly fine to do nr. 1 outside, and even nr. 2, only if out in the wilderness, if you got toilet paper. Just not do it obvious or visibly. You will find most ingredients available unless outsourcing the bigger cities. If out on the countryside the selection varies. The most healthy is to cook from scratch and less processed and more whole foods… hiking snacks can be everything from fruits, nuts, sandwiches etc. It totally depends on your taste. Roundabouts are easy. Just remember to place your self in the correct lane, and use your blinkers properly both in and out to signal to the other drivers. When into any roundabout you always have to give way for incoming traffic from the right.
If you are on a budget, you get the cheapest food from Kiwi, Rema 1000, Coop Prix, Coop Extra, Spar and Eurospar stores. They all have their own house brands which are decent quality and considerably cheaper than other brands. They also sell food that is close to its expiration date at a discount but be aware that this is usually food that is expensive to start with so there may not be much to save.
If you eat bread, shop early in the day and buy the cheapest kneip bread. It only costs about a dollar, tastes great the first day, perfectly good for a week or so and wonderful as toast all the time.
As always of course, the more processed the food is, the more it costs. So cooking from base ingerdient is nearly always cheaper than buying ready made meals. Tomatoes are an exception here, chopped tomatoes in cartons tend to be cheaper than whole tomatoes and great for many kinds of sauces and soups.
Norway has a reputation for being an expensive country but it's perfectly possible to eat well for five dollars a day, even as little as two or three if you're very careful how you shop.

As for driving through roundabouts, there aren't really any special rules for them. But when you enter one, give way to the cars already in it, turn right and stay in the outer lane unless you are absolutely sure what you're doing.

In Norway you have to give way to traffic from the Left in roundabouts. This means that you both have to yield to the traffic already in the roundabout when you're going in and to traffic in the inner lanes when you are in the roundabout, but you don't have to mind the traffic coming into the roundabout (from the right). Normally, on the road, you will yield to traffic from the right (unless directed otherwise by sign/traffic-light), but not in roundabouts (or more specifically; you are directed by a yield-sign when entering).
I’m very curious to know of your thoughts on my suggestion/recommendation (I’d made for you in my Comment to your prior Video-4 weeks ago) to consider investing in English and Norwegian Closed-Captioning/Subtitles (and, thus, improving upon “Deaf Accessibility” to overcome yet another communication barrier and reach more people: the deaf & Hard-Of-Hearing)? Not only that, but the Norwegian Closed-Captioning (Subtitles) could benefit us “Hearing” folks too; they’d be an excellent, invaluable tool that could help us English-speaking folks try and learn some Norwegian…I’d never ask you (or anyone) nosy, prying Questions (such as how much Money they make), but if you could budget Professional Closed-Captioning (English & Norwegian), Professionally-Composed English and Norwegian Closed-Captioning (Subtitles) might be a sound investment for either of your RUclips Channels, either way…Meanwhile, the Original/Auto-Generated English Closed-Captioning can remain up as a Secondary Option…Respectfully, if you could do this, deaf and HoH people would have a much easier time following whatever you’re saying in your Videos, and your Channel(s) would likely be viewed as more reputable than the many RUclips Channels out there that get by on Auto-Generated Closed-Captioning alone…For Instance: There are plenty of deaf Content Creators who could potentially have an easier time enjoying your Content if you provide good Closed-Captioning…Also, for any Talking “Stories” or “Reels” you post to your Instagram (I still haven’t looked you up on Instagram yet, by-the-way), IG now offers Auto-Generated Captions for those too, in form of a “Sticker” called “Captions” which could be a very useful tool to assure any Talking Videos in Instagram are “Deaf Accessible” as well…And just like the Auto-Generated Captions on RUclips, Auto-Generated Captions on Instagram can be edited too, in case the AI (Auto-Generated) Speech Recognition struggles to understand your Accent…

Interesting, useful content. expressive and attractive girl. Приятно на тебя смотреть и слушать ;)) But the sound quality is not cool. maybe it works for headphones.. but when you turn on the TV and with an acoustic system, it's very uncomfortable. Audio levels jump up and down with too much amplitude.. I recommend to put in use GainAssist feature in your RØDE wireless microphone :))
