It’s not difficult to make your own Lightning link if you want full auto.
Hell you can even bend up a coat hanger just right and have a drop in device that can be installed or removed in seconds without altering the gun in any way.

Anyone who's going to do something like this and kill a bunch of people isn't going to be stopped by a bump stock ban. As the guy said a "bump stock" is just a toy. It let's you shoot fast but at the price of accuracy. When you use a bump stock the whole gun is sliding back and forth and is unsteady and therefore inaccurate. A real machine gun doesn't do this. Anyway, it easy to turn an AR and most other semi autos into a real machine gun. All you need is a little flat piece of metal, that just about anyone with basic skills can cut to dimension. These are what are often called "lightning links" or "glock switches" and they are much easier to make than a bump stock and unlike a bump stock require no skills or special technique. You actually have to learn how to use a bump stock because you must simultaneously push forward with one hand on the foregrip while pulling backward with your trigger finger on the other hand. If you watch videos where people use a bump stock for the first time you can see it takes a little bit of practice to master that and maintain fire. That's not the case with a lightning link of glock switch. Those are 100% plug and play. So anybody who has the intent to do some bad is much more likely to choose one of those instead and since they will make it themselves, there will be no record that they purchased it. It'd be much better to leave bump stocks alone and focus on those devices instead. Heck, even a coat hanger or piece of wire can be twisted into a shape that performs the same function but doesn't last as long, but for a mass shooter who's only intent is to kill as many as he can before he himself get taken out, that wouldn't matter. Bottom line is trying to outlaw the sale of stuff like this is going to have no effect.

In layman's terms the definition of a "machine gun" is more than one bullet is fired with a single press of the trigger. I.E. holding the trigger rearward continually fires bullets until the trigger is released. These bump stocks and other kinds of triggers do not fit the ATF's definition of a machine gun. I have a feeling that a law will be suggested that regulates the number of rounds a weapon can be fired per second/minute. That is a horrible idea but government officials tend to be terrified of guns. Instead of more gun control, the government needs to spend more time and effort on helping those with mental illnesses and keeping criminals in jail instead of these no bail policies. More people in America are killed in motor vehicle collisions than by firearms but that does not seem to upset politicians. Also, most shootings are committed by criminals with stolen guns, not people who legally purchase firearms. Just imagine what it would be like today if in the 1760s all firearms were banned in America.

The separation of the bumb stock and machine gun is very wide. It takes lots of ammo and lots of practice to use a bumb stock. The average shooter who has never used a bumb stock could not get more than two rounds to fire, it takes practice. I’ve seen people years ago give up on practicing because they could never get the coordination down between their left hand and their right arm. The method of successful operation requires forward tension on the forearm constantly while shooting. Most could never get the idea of operation in less than 500 rounds of ammo, most gave up. It’s very difficult to learn for many shooters thus the lack of protest.
I appreciate MR Cargill for fighting the oppressive over reaching federal government, the majority of gun owners didn’t care because it didn’t affect them nor the majority of shooters. I sure hope Trump doesn’t make another girly man’s emotional decision again if re-elected. Bump stocks are not needed to bump fire a rifle if it’s able to fire semi auto. This is why all gun owners should pay attention to what’s really going on, possibly. What if all semi auto rifles and shotguns were to be added to the machine gun laws. I’m sure liberal progressive sissy’s in Washington are salivating over this idea of having all gun owners with a semi auto paying the 200.00 tax stamp to keep their semi auto rifles. If the handgun arm brace rule is made a part of the package then handguns that are semi auto would also be required to pay the 200.00 for their permission slip to keep their guns.
It’s the understanding of many that if the proper paperwork is filed to own a suppressor, machine gun, or any weapon that falls under the the ATF rules then they are essentially giving up their 4th amendment right to unreasonable searches and seizures. I know it’s in the language because I’ve read it on the ATF forms. Most are gun dealers and this 4th amendment thing doesn’t bother them because the ATF comes and goes as they please. People who have an FFL form of any kind have essentially forfeited their right under the 4th amendment. Many will argue this point. Even if an FFL isn’t required then look back at history to see what they did to David Koresh, he didn’t have an FFL license yet the ATF said he was buying to many guns thus a search was ordered, no law was broken yet it didn’t slow down the ATF and FBI down. They’re other cases where private FFL gun owners were shocked to see ATF cops knocking on their doors. The ATF can visit a home and ask to see the guns and accessories that the owner has at the listed location they provided at the time of application for the FFL. Most of the time it’s a store address however they are many gun owners who have machine guns and suppressors registered under their FFL using their home addresses.
The ATF will inspect the weapons or accessories and the paperwork when they want too at the listed address provided at the time of application. Today there is no room for mistakes, zero tolerance under pedo joes america. The ATF loves people who follow the rules, those keeping the rules are most often the ones who get the ATF’s attention and the visits.
Bumb stocks are not machine guns, the firing of the weapon requires a single pull of the trigger each time the gun is fired. Machine guns require one pull of the trigger and the gun fires till the shooter releases the trigger or the gun runs out of ammo. Totally different animals. I can bumb fire without a bumb stock and it’s actually easier to use the method I use providing the shooter has a belt loop attached to their pants. Will the ATF ban all jeans and pants if they have belt loops? They could if they get their way with bump-stocks, but would they?
Well, they wouldn’t do that, yet they might. The ATF might just require the manufacturers to shorten or lengthen the size of belt loops attached to each garment, I could see this happening if millions started bump firing from their belt loops. It’s better to take no chances with an out of control federal government. We can always sew our on belt loops to our pants, jeans and slacks, I’d hate to have to do this though.

Dear Devin Dwyer: how do you know a bumpstock played a roll in the “deadliest mass shooting”? By that, I take it you are referring to the Las Vegas shooting; have you seen the police report of that? If so, the rest of American would love to know the details of that incident, as those files have not been made available to we, the citizens. If not, you are commenting on hearsay, which makes you a very poor excuse for a newsreader.

Spirit of the Law? What about Black letter Law? Where is Congress? Why is any Executive Agency allowed to change the meaning of words? The last I checked the ATF does not create law via regulations. The arguments being put forth against Bump Stocks is not sound. For those that missed Civics Class and ABC after school specials. Everyone has to agree or disagree about a Bill that may become Law. Yes Virginia, there is a process to go through. If you don't like a Law you must go through the process to create, modify, or sunset a Law. When that activity occurs civil discourse or not can happen. Activism disguised as lobbying is not news, It's Propaganda. Any lobbying organization purposely going against the Constitution should be held accountable for their actions taken. Some would call that a Felony, I would call it Treasonous. I will take Rule of Law any day over opinionated activism. Jeremiah said it best in his last statement.

Man I love how those who swore an oath and continue to make money through guns and those who don’t know better stand up and work for groups who want the ban of all guns. Is there any practical point to a bump stock? That’s not the point. That doesn’t matter. Let’s apply this whole “spirt” bull to everything els in our world and see what people do.

"Creator" is a stretch. I remember buying Hellfires, and Tribursts in the early 90s. And even without those, its pretty easy to bump-fire with without any device. These new Bump Stocks were just taking that old idea, and making it a bit easier to use, but far less accurate. You can see the upper receiver bouncing around. I think they are dumb, but clearly not illegal. Clearly not a machine gun.

And: If I drive a super car at 180mpg on my own property, no one but myself is in danger. Cargill is right, this is about an agency making law.

"This converts an assault weapon into a machine gun"
Oh the amount of stupid in that sentence alone 😂
Assault weapons ARE machine guns. If it is semi auto, it's not an assault weapon. It HAS to have full auto capability to be considered an assault weapon, that is a NECESSARY component to the definition of assault weapon. Also, it has to be chambered in a "battle" caliber, 762x39, 556, 308, etc.

The 2nd amendment says "Shall not be infringed". The Founding Fathers were very specific in their wording in writing the Constitution. The ATF is a Government Administrative Bureau, not elected. The ATF isn't empowered to write the laws that litigate fines and punishment or prison time. Does the IRS, FDIC, FDA, CDC, EPA, etc change/write/create laws to put someone in prison? The FBI doesn't even write the laws they are tasked to enforce, Congress does.
